I stayed here for five days with my family in april 2013 and had an amazing time. We were in Tahoe for a ski trip, so it was wonderful to be so close to the Heavenly ski lifts. The house is huge - there was plenty of room for our eight adults and one baby. The owner provided us with very helpful instructions to make sure we had everything we needed. My favorite part of the house was the kitchen - it was huge and very modern, with a great big fridge (plus separate wine fridge), a professional-grade stove and oven, lots of counter space, and every kind of pot/pan/dish/utensil we needed for cooking big family meals each night. Everyone in my family loved the house and thanked me for finding it for them. :) We will definitely look to stay here again the next time we are in Lake Tahoe!

The house was a wonderful place for a family vacation. The view was beautiful. We had family visit us from the area during our stay and they could not believe we had found such a wonderful house so convenient to everything, yet off the beaten path with a great view of the lake. They plan to rent it during the summer for a fun girl weekend.

There are many wonderful things about this property but my favorite was siting in one of the rocking chairs in front of the large window and watch the view of the lake, especially at sunrise and sunset. We were a family of 10, all adults on a ski trip, and the layout was perfect for us. The description was very accurate. The jacuzzi tub in one of the master bedrooms was in high demand and highly appreciated after a day on the slopes as we took turns soaking in it. The kitchen was fit for a chef with plenty of cookwares, dishes, and silverware and we enjoyed few dinners at home prepared by one of us who happens to have trained as a professional chef. Thank you Hutch for a wonderful family vacation! We'll be sure to come back.

We have just spent a week at the house with family who flew in from NZ and Canada. It was the first family holiday we have had for a long time and I was eager to find somewhere really special to stay. Hutch's house was absolutely amazing. It exceeded our expectations in every way and we really appreciated the care and attention that has been taken over every detail. We were two families and Grandparents. They loved their upstairs room tucked away from the noise of the younger children. I particularly enjoyed the chef's kitchen which had everything I needed and more. Thank you Hutch for providing such a superb home for us to stay in.

Our whole family have loved the time spend at "the Essence of Tahoe" and it truely exceeded all expectations. The location is much better than we could see from Google street view as it looks straight out over the lake across the small park in front of the house. We had two families with small kids and one set of grandparents and the configuration of the home was perfect.
The house was perfectly central to everything going on in Tahoe. Very close to Heavenly for skiing and also close to shops. We loved our trips on the lake (rental power boat) and to emerald bay and beyond.
We would definetly stay again and will be recommending this house to anyone we know heading your way.

Wow!! This property exceeded my expectations. We are the over 50 gang and the home couldn't have been more perfect. I say home because that is just how it felt. The view is a million dollar view, The home was top notch and the owners paid attention to every detail of this home. The Layout was great!! I had my family of 4 then my sister and her husband and my lovely parents who are in their 80's. We had more than enough room and everyone had their private bathroom. A Must if you are staying with others. You know what they say about location. Location, Location, Location. Steps to the beach, minutes from Tahoe Blvd and the casinos, 5 minutes from the grocery stores and the ski lifts .The neighborhood is so very quiet. Wish we had reserved this home for a longer period of time. Next year we know we will be back and stay in this wonderful home. The is a beautiful property a stone's throw from the lake. It is modern, clean, and super comfortable. It was even better than I pictured. Once the street construction is done, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. In the winter, it is probably awesome as well.

We've rented a number of beautiful vacation homes over the years but none were as beautiful, well-equipped, and tastefully furnished as this property. The location is superb with an unobstructed view of Lake Tahoe from the front of the home and it's just a short drive to Heavenly, the casinos, and downtown South Lake Tahoe. Most importantly, the owner is a pleasure to work with. He is professional, easily accessible, and very quick to answer questions.

The house has wonderful upgrades, not to mention the view of the lake and easy access to Regan Park. We plan to stay again on our future trips to South Tahoe.

We had a wonderful time staying at this house in Lake Tahoe!! As soon as we walked in, we were surprised by the beautiful layout and features of the house! It was so clean, and well decorated. Each room had comfortable beds and beautiful furniture. The heated floors and huge jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom made us feel so spoiled! The view of the lake out of the huge windows were breath taking!! The kids loved exploring the house for all its hidden treasures!
The house was only a few minutes away from the lake, casinos, Heavenly, and grocery stores! I loved the location! We took many walks and bike rides in the warm afternoon sun after enjoying a day on the spring powder!
We really enjoyed our time and would love to plan a summer trip!! -

Location is fantastic!!, close to town, ski area, restaurants, etc and right by the lake, the view from the windows is spectacular!!!
The house is beautiful and very comfortable, many amenities, decoration is calm, simple and inviting. The view from the living room and dining room windows are absolutely amazing, getting up every morning looking at the lake is priceless
One of the best rooms is the kitchen big enough to have more than one person cooking, great appliances, complete kitchen! We really enjoyed it!
We have a great time on the snow with the snowball machines and all kinds of snow toys to play
Kids bedrooms are very nice, kids love to have their own space, wi fi all over the house, great for the teenagers and their laptops and I pads
Garage big enough for 2 cars, very necessary in winter
We definitely will stay there again, it has been the best house we rented in Lake Tahoe

When i first choose this property i said "ok" looks nice now I have rented at least a dozen properties in south lake tahoe and most the time it feels like a gamble because most pics are decieving..
Now i am driving on the 50hwy coming in from Reno right away lakeview ave comes up and I make my turn within 3 minutes I have arrived!!! I did not make 10 turns with 5 stop signs no - one turn I was there at the lake! Not the keys.. I Walk into the bottom level entrnce right away I can see how clean it looks (the style) then I walk up to the main floor thats when my breath was taken away and the biggest smile came across my face!!! Right away I knew I made the best choice my impression was that this masterpiece was professionally designed and decorated with great taste, when you walk up the stairs and make your left you are hit with a picture perfect view-windows from floor to ceiling sprawling 40 ft across and 15 ft high let you digest one of the prettiest sites in the world! The kitchen has the most beautiful granite I have seen-the floors and wood trim shimmer when the sun hits it-also inlaid with a border-what detail...The ceilings are raised and vaulted to about 18ft high which gives you a open and free peaceful feel plus they are finished with copper and wood! (Detail) The master bath is gorgeous with a slate walk in shower,a jacuzzi bathtub with a big window so you can relax with a view! All the bedrooms are decorated with great style! The garage is fully stocked with all the snow goodies for all ages... Very close to heavenly -amazing location.. The house is wonderful, we really liked the view from the lake, is beautiful to sit and eat with a beautiful view ... The house is very ampia and beautiful, has all the amenities you would expect for a holiday of any kind ... The ski areas are nearby as are shops and rstaurante.

This property is absolutely phenomenal. The pictures do not disappoint. We went for a long weekend and the place and the location, could not be beat. We can not wait to return. Even though, there was a very slight bump, the wireless was on the fritz, the owners was extremely responsive and worked hard to resolve the issue. I would highly recommend with property to anyone.

When we pulled up to this place we were very impressed just by the manner which it was maintained on the outside. We even found people taking pictures of the exterior as they walked by. Once we opened the door and came inside it got even better. The house is immaculate and very functional. The instructions were readily available and very clear. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Our stay was during the Labor Day Holiday. The location was perfect for watching the fireworks. We could walk down to the beach in under five minutes. I will definitely rent this place again.

My husband and I rented 'The Essence of Tahoe" for two weeks and had extended family and friends for varying periods of time. We all had a spectacularly fun experience at this lovely spacious home.
The house was well equipped in the kitchen and we cooked/grilled on the rooftop grill and in the oven for all dinners. Our groups enjoyed dinners around the dining table while watching the lake and environs. Clean up was great with a dishwasher and amenities. We were pleased to find 2 sets of washer/dryer- one on the entry level and the other on the main level.
The house was a perfect location for across-the-street lake swimming and walks in the neighborhood, walks in the Upper Truckee Marsh meadows, visiting the extended park across the street and strolling up to Hwy 50 for leisurely shopping /craft fair.
The views from this house were beautiful 24/7 and enjoyed from early morning through the evening. The house was spotless. The spa bathroom adjoining the master bedroom on the main living level sported a wonderful multiple shower-heads shower and jacuzzi bath. The beds were super comfortable and furniture was beautiful and solidly constructed. The lovely decor made us all feel as if we were vacationing in the "lap of luxury", yet comfortable.
Three additional bedrooms were located on the entry and upper levels, which suited us well. This provided privacy for my husband and myself as well as privacy for our guests.
Hutch has been wonderful to work with when setting up our rental request dates, and he was available for communications at all times. Our deposit was refunded in an extremely timely manner.
We wholeheartedly recommend "The Essence of Tahoe" to those wishing to experience a wonderful,
unique vacation in serene, comfortable luxury. -

We just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at The Essence of Tahoe. Our "trip" actually started months' before, with an extremely smooth and organized rental process. We really appreciated all the tips provided beforehand and the notebook awaiting us which provided step-by step instructions for the high-end entertainment systems located throughout the home.
The home itself looks exactly like the pictures, super clean , extremely high-end finishes and the 4-bedroom layout (was perfect for our group of 3 couples and 2 2 down, 1 main, 1 up) kids. The downstairs TV with game station, allowed the kids to play downstairs while the adults could chat and cook upstairs. We loved being able to bar-b-que on the state-of-the-art gas grill on the rooftop deck - what a view. The jetted tub and multi-head shower in the Master Suite was a big hit - even the kids were anxious to bathe, just to try it out! You feel like you are staying in a 5-star lodge - all by yourself.
The location is excellent. You have an unobstructed view across a small public park to the water. We simply walked across the street and across the grass to launch our kayak or simply to let the kids play on the sand. While conveniently located to the downtown area of South Lake Tahoe, the home sits in a quiet residential section just West which enabled us to bike ride with the kids though quiet, peaceful streets.
The customer-service didn't end the moment we walked in the door - when we arrived, we couldn't connect via the wireless, so one quick call and we collectively figured out the power was off due to a tripped GFI outlet. And of course, we forgot coats hanging in a closet when we left but by the time we got home, we had an email waiting to let us know that they had been found, and asking where we'd like them shipped - concierge service at it's finest!
In closing, I would definitely recommend this rental to friends, family and everyone else. You wont' be disappointed!Response from Hutch - 07/12/2011

Awesome place with a very hospital host in Hutch. Hutch was extremely responsive to our every need and question. The house is exceptional quality in a wonderful location, literally a stroll across the road to the lake. Everything in the house is fully functional and excellent quality.

We found this cabin and knew immediately that this was the perfect location for our Memorial Day weekend get away. The booking process was quick and easy and Hutch always responded to emails in a timely manner. We arrived and the cabin was in superb condition. The view is unmatched and is located literally across the street from the lake! The casinos are a short 5 minute drive away which makes for the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. We cannot wait for the next time we are in Tahoe as we know exactly where we will be staying!

We had a wonderful stay in the house for a mini family reunion. The house is immaculate and it looks like it was built with extra love and attention to every detail. It's also a beautiful and convenient location with gorgeous lake views and driving distance to all restaurants and sightseeing.
Even though we were only there for a short while and didn't barbecue on the deck, we enjoyed some very nice stargazing up there.
Also highly recommend the master with with the whirlpool tub and the multi-jet shower. Perfect after a day out enjoying the outdoors.

This is a beautiful new home located along the shores of Lake Tahoe. The view is truly "The Essence of Tahoe". The amenities are boundless, there was never a want for anything, this home is very well supplied with up to date electronics (TV, Stereo, and appliances), and the furnishings are very comfortable and well appointed.
I was hosted by Hutch and stayed with friends for three days. The minute we set foot in this home we new it was well cared for, and immediately felt relaxed allowing us to slip right into 'vacation mode'. The view from the roof patio/deck is stunning, we spent hours sunning, eating, reading, and soaking in the view. When we felt the urge to move we took advantage of the wonderful location to take a leisurely stroll across the street through a small park that is very popular as a wedding location, and down the public beach.
Quite honestly, the only drawback to our stay was the length; too short, hated to leave.
I highly recommend this home, grab your family and friends and take advantage of this wonderful vacation home!

This was our second stay at this house. After our first visit in 2010 we couldn't wait to get back there! The setting is fantastic. The proximity to the lake is so close, even the kids didn't mind hauling their sleds over. The home has the perfect layout for multiple families, as each bedroom is on a different level. The home is spotless, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. We Bbq'd 2 nights of the three on the rooftop despite the snow and cold weather. The kids ate first and then we sent them downstairs to watch a movie while the adults had dinner. The owners are professional, organized, and prompt. Do not hesitate to stay here! It is amazing! Our extended family rents a house each year, normally at the Oregon Coast, but this year we decided on Lake Tahoe and we are so glad we did. We use this annual time together to play games, eat well, drink a little and catch up with one anothers busy lives. The Essence of Tahoe turned out to be the perfect location for all those activities and much, much more. Some family members went snowboarding at Heavenly while the rest of us went sledding at the park directly across the street from the house. The view from the main level is amazing and if you are lucky, you will even be able to watch weddings in that same park. The house was prefect for multiple families with the bedrooms on various levels. Everything about this proprerty was exceptional. I would certainly recommend the Essence of Tahoe to my friends who want to vacation at the Lake.

We booked the Essence of Tahoe for a family reunion and couldn't have asked for a more wonderful stay. The house is beautifully decorated, luxurious and very well equipped. Hutch is extremely organized and quick to respond which made the booking process very smooth.
Waking up to a lake view every morning was a real treat and we're already looking forward to our next visit!

We had a wonderful time with our cousins staying here. The house was set up perfectly for all the age ranges that were there. The home itself was beautiful and had the most amazing views of the lake. Snowboarding was a breeze since Heavenly was so close to the house. Centrally located and just absolutely perfect. Will definately stay again and recommend to all we know!

This home is amazing. Very nice. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything is brand new. The home is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The lake is amazing. Watched a wedding in the snow take place while we there right from the balcony! Walked with the kids to the meadow for a hike. I must admit the master shower with 6 shower heads was up there on the top of the list for my favorite. The jacuzzi tub follows in 2nd. We couldn't have had a better time.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Essence of Tahoe.
This house is super spacious, has a fabulous layout (the main living room is great for a large group of people, the upper and lower levels offer privacy), and is filled with *tons* of nice custom features (too many to list, but our favorites were the stone fireplace (which works really well to keep the main living room warm), the master bathroom (amazing), the in-ceiling speakers, and the top-of-the-line kitchen appliances).
On top of that, it's in a prime location, just a couple minutes drive to Heavenly and lot of different shopping and restaurants, and just steps to Regan Beach, which was tons of fun for us and our toddlers, especially after it snowed..we built a huge snowman (5 ft tall) and sledded on all the hills surrounding the beach. It was so much fun.
When the power went out due to the strong winds before the snow came, we still had light (from the emergency flashlights and candles that came with the rental) and heat (from the fireplace and gas heater).
It was extra nice that the rental also had bikes and sleds that we were able to borrow during our time there.
Hutch is great to deal with. He replies to emails and phone calls quickly, gives you all the details you're looking for, and tries to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
There's just one thing to consider - for stays during the winter months - the first floor (which is where the futon and most of the beds are) is much colder than the 2nd and 3rd floors. We mainly all stuck to the main living area (which is the nicest area of the house), so it wasn't a huge issue for us, but..it is something to keep in mind..
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the house immensely and would recommend the home to anyone looking for a rental in the S. Lake Tahoe area. -

Whether it was snowing or sunny, this house was a delight. The view from the family room is unequaled: straight across from the lake with only the magnificent pines to frame the blue. The location is convenient to every venue in South Tahoe. The kitchen is wonderful and easy to work in, with most every pot/serving piece that is needed, provided. Comfortable beds, enough bathrooms, and easy to use washer-dryers, made life easy. Staying here was a lovely experience.

This is easily one of the most amazing houses I've ever set foot in. The view of Lake Tahoe is breathtaking. The close proximity to everything - shopping, skiing, casinos, marinas - is deceptive because the house feels so secluded. The owner is super friendly and will do everything he can to make sure your stay is excellent. My husband and I plan to make renting this lovely home a yearly tradition.

I came across this home when I was researching where in South Lake Tahoe to celebrate my 50th birthday. I wanted a vacation rental that was beautiful, centrally located, awesome lake views and large enough to accomodate my family which included 7 adults and 5 toddlers, but most importantly, one that was going to provide very special memories. When I saw the photos of this gorgeous home, I knew this was the one! We had a great time! The kids loved being so close to the beach. We loved cooking in the kitchen using the top-of-the line appliances. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was immaculate.
The owner, Hutch, is a very nice man. He responded quickly to all of my questions and was considerate and flexible regarding the rental. He returned our full deposit within a few days after our stay.
The whole experience was top notch. I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it to those looking for an amazing vacation rental while staying in South Lake Tahoe. My one regret is that my stay in this home was not long enough...I'll fix that next time.

The home is warm and welcoming. You have everything needed for entertaining,a kitchen equuipped with alnything a good chef could ever need.The view's from the main balcony are wonderful, a panorama of the mountains and the lake right at you fingertips. The bedrooms are all wonderfully supplied with down featherbeds and down comforters, you couldn't ask for much more on a snowy night. The casino's and shoppping are no more than five minutes away and there's a really nice park across the street on the bank of the lake for people with children. There truely is something for everyone, the serenity of the mountains and the lake, the excitement of the casino's and a feeling of being in someone's beautifully furnished and very welcoming home...

The property had everything that you would want in a vacation rental and more! The location was outstanding right by the lake with a sand beach and a park. It was close to all amenities, but quiet enough to avoid most traffic. The interior was almost as nice as the vice from the picture windows and the roof top deck. It had great amenities from the open floor plan, to the rustic contemporary design features, it was just a beautiful place to stay. We will look for it again the next time we are in Tahoe!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lake Tahoe. The home is gorgous! Very spacious and comfortable with high end furnishing and fixtures. The kitchen is fully equiped for cooking and entertaining. Incredible views of the lake and mountains. The location is perfect for walks and exploring, and is close to town for grogeries, restaurants, and entertainment. The perfect place to relax and appreciate the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

The subject says it all. This is where you want to be to escape to paradise. You can feel the tension build as you get closer and closer to this home. If you think it's a beauty from the outside just wait until you step inside. Gorgeous through and through. An amazing view of the lake from the living room and rooftop. This is where happy hour should be spent. The access to the lake could not be easier. Within 5 minutes you are in the water. There is also a nice play structure with swings for the little ones. We cannot wait to return. The owner was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. A+

The place was absolutely amazing and surpassed all our expectations.
The house is immaculately kept and offers every amenity needed to make stay comfortable and enjoyable. The views are amazing and the location is perfect for those wishing to take advantage of South Lake Tahoe's restaurants and casinos.
Although, there is a beach right in front of the property, we also found a secluded beach within walking distance from the property -- I highly recommend a visit. You can ask the landlord for directions.
The landlord was great -- really I can say enough good things about him. We will definitely be staying at this property the next time we are in Tahoe.

This house is amazing! It has all the comforts that a vacationer could dream of. The three levels make it perfect for traveling with multiple families or people. The view and close proximity to the lake are breathtaking. The owners have spared no expense (games, sleds, quality linens, throw blankets, bbq, and on and on) to make the stay a memorable, comfortable and enjoyable one for the vacationers. A must see/stay. Book your reservation today...you won't want to leave!

I wholeheartedly and without reservation would recommend this breathtaking South Tahoe retreat. From furnishings to decoration it does not disappoint. It is open, airy and full of light. The view is simply breathtaking from every level and is directly across the street from the lake. It is a few steps to the beach which was perfect with the kids. It is close to stores and restaurants and sleeps quite a few.

My entire immediate family (6 adults and 3 children ages 7, 5, and 13 months) stayed at this beautiful property in late July 2010 while in South Lake Tahoe for a wedding. The house appears to have been built or remodeled very recently, as it features state-of-the-art appliances and stylish furnishings. It was in excellent condition.
The owner ("Hutch") was very helpful both before and after we arrived (we had a couple of questions upon our arrival). The location is nice too--about 100 yards from the Lake. If you stay here, ask Hutch to give you directions to the nature preserve that is a quarter mile west of the house. The preserve includes a marsh with walking paths that lead to a long, sandy, and almost tourist-free beach.
All told, we highly recommend this property. Thanks Hutch! -

I stayed here for my honeymoon. This house is truly Amazing!! For only two people being there it was like a mansion. The location was great, being only steps away from the beach, not too far from everything else. I love the decorating in the house. I would love for my house to look like it does.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay on our honeymoon. We loved it there and would love to revisit it again. -

This place was amazing to say the least. The house, the location, the view, where do I start? Being in construction I was impressed with all the fine details, top of the line kitchen and the great workmanship. Because of the high ceilings in the family/dinning room and the huge windows you actually feel like you are outside and you can easily stay indoors all day playing games and spending quality time with the family. Location, we were able to walk to several beaches and pick and choose which one we wanted to visit. On the other hand at night we were able to drive five minutes and go to the casinos and several restaurants. Finally the view, it was pretty entertaining watching five weddings in one day happen in front of our eyes with the amazing lake view in the back ground. I wish my house was as beautiful as this rental.

This home leaves you asking for nothing more. It's large enough for all your friends, close enough to the lake for a day out on a boat or an evening down by the shore, and architecturally, it's absolutely stunning.

This must be the ultimate in cabins. I would not call it "cabin", but a "modern castle"!! This place is huge, beautiful, clean and modern. Newly remodeled with a kitchen that rivals Food Network's!! Fabulous living spaces and bedrooms. The bathrooms are custom-built with stone and tile. I wish my house was like this!! The views of the lake and the surrounding areas are fabulous. Just across the street from the lake with walking trails all around. The fourth floor deck overlooking the lake is beyond words!! You must go up there and enjoy a summer barbecue - grill provided :-)
