    Additional Location Information

Hop the 20-seater ferry for a 2-minute ride to fabulous, private South Venice Beach with your free ferry pass. Bring along the chairs and towels that the hosts provide. The beach is un-crowded and has glorious sunsets.

You can walk for miles to rejuvenate. Use the Venice “snow shovel” to find prehistoric shark’s teeth, as Venice is the Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World. There are a plethora of shells to be unearthed as well-watch the pelicans dive, shore bids hunting for dinner and dolphins swimming as you enjoy the turquoise blue waters.

Upon your return, enter into the all-tiled home. Relax on the leather couch in the open, cathedral-ceilinged living area.

The beige tiles continue in the crisp, freshly painted all white walled rooms adorned with many of co-owner Wendell Welch’s award-winning scenic and wildlife photos.

Barbeque on the grill, eat in relaxation on the tiled, screened and windowed lanai or at the wrought iron glass table in the eat-in kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave and dishwasher and is fully equipped for the creation of simple to elaborate meals, including serving dishes and a service for 6.

The home is WI-FI and plug-in fitted for J45. There are over 200 Dish Network channels plus premium channels to choose from on your 40' Digital Flat screen TV in the living room . You can also play CD’s or watch a favorite DVD.

There’s a queen bed in the master suite with a walk-in closet and ample drawer space. The master also has a private bath with shower.

Your guest/s will rest on the full size pillow top bed in the 2nd bedroom. They can curl up in the comfortable armchair to read. There’s a large closet and small dresser as well.

Sheets are a 300 count for comfortable sleeping and there are 4 pillows per bed with extra blankets for the occasional chilly night.

Park your vehicle in the garage. There’s also an in house laundry room complete with iron and ironing board.

There’s wonderful biking at Shamrock Nature Park, about a mile from the house, and a great bike path along the Intracoastal in Venice, where an occasional eagle can be seen soaring overhead. Bicycles can be rented at several locations in Venice.

No smoking or pets allowed-no exceptions!!

Venice has a beautiful downtown area, with many antique shops, some great eateries and fun boutiques and galleries for poking. There are quite a few lovely beaches here as well, and the North and South Jetties provide great people, boat and dolphin watching-it’s a favorite spot for sunsets, too.

There’s even a bird rookery where you can watch heron babies and, later in the season, the egrets and smaller shorebirds. Venice has two libraries and, if fishing or golf are more your style, there are many in-town and close-by options. The movie theatre is close by, too-less than a five-minute drive. There’s a bowling alley as well.

Just a short drive away you’ll find Sarasota with the wonderful Ringling Museum, the refurbished downtown area, cultural events, a great night life and the Marie Selby Gardens, just to mention a few.

If you like nature, Myakka State Park is great for hiking and bird watching, biking, too. You can kayak or canoe down the river if adventure is your style. The tree top walk there is not to be missed!

Do you want to venture further afield? St. Petersburg, with the Baywalk for fun shopping, the Dali and St. Petersburg Art Museums make for a great day trip. Within less than two hours you can be at Busch gardens and three hours will find you on a Disney Ride.

Fort Myers, an hour in the other direction, has the huge Fleamasters Flea market on the weekends and don’t miss the Edison-Ford winter home tour. Naples, Sanibel and Marco Islands can be reached in less than two hours for other great day trips. Art shows abound in the area on weekends, as do many festivals in the winter.

So, no matter where your interests lie, Venice is a wonderful area to spend some time at any part of the year.

Feel free to call your friendly artist hosts, Linda and Wendell Welch, with any further questions.
