This cottage was recently renovated and is very clean and bright. The main floor has one bedroom with a queen bed, one bath with a shower, tiled floors, spacious living room/dining area with many windows letting in sunlight. The living room has a ceiling fan, satellite TV, DVD and two comfortable couches. Sliders open onto the expansive deck with gas grill and deck furniture. Downstairs there is one queen and 2 twin beds. There is a half bath with washer and dryer off the bedroom.Step outside to the enclosed outside shower. I've stayed in several other Surfside Cottages and Condos over the years, and this is my favorite. 402 Wilson is more "house" than "cottage." The owners obviously love it and have cared for it beautifully - a real plus for lucky renters! Perfectly located on the ocean side of Ocean View Drive, equipped with essentials and extra touches, clean and well maintained. Lots of outdoor deck space, including the "crows' nest" with great view of the ocean - ideal spot for breakfast, late afternoon "Cape Codders," and nighttime stargazing. Close to S. Wellfleet General Store, the amazing French bakery, and other shopping but very quiet - after Labor Day, the beach is nearly empty! The bedroom on the main floor is lovely and light, the bedroom area (screened) on the lower level is also fine. The twin beds on the lower level are not actually in a separate room, so it's best if residents are family members and/or good friends. Great to have extra bathroom facilities on that lower level, and the washer and dryer are a real plus.
I have "personal space" issues and have had no more than three adults at one time in this cottage. That's worked out well, and I also enjoy being alone in the space.
We've rented through Surfside for ages, and have always received prompt, accurate information prior to our stay as well as speedy, attentive service any time we've needed it while there.
Major pluses: Location, cleanliness, extras in the kitchen and elsewhere, proximity to ocean beach, quiet!, upper deck, washer and dryer, Armand and Lisa's presence.
Tiny minus: The outdoor shower could use a new showerhead/nozzle - maybe that's been added.

Third visit to Surfside Cottage's with 3 growing children now 14, 12 & 11. Each year gets better then the last and the children can't wait to get to Wellfleet to relax and unplug. Our activites and venues change each year and its always an excellent vaction. I love that in the fabric each childs memories Wellfleet will be a large part of it. We're planning to make it a 2 week stay in 2012. Lisa and armand are perfect hosts and there is a lot to be said in "no surprises" Enjoy!

The house on Wilson is beautiful and a great space all around. Being so close to the beach was fabulous, and the close proximity to Hatch's fishmarket and veggy stand!
My only reservation is for guests who are sleeping downstairs in the basement. The space was lovely, clean and roomy. However, the dehumidifier is incredibly loud and so several of us found it difficult to sleep at night.

The downstairs dehumidifier can easily be turned off at night and back on during the day to keep it comfortable.
