My husband and I absolutely loved everything about Gull Cottage! Look for the yellow mailbox. It is conveniently located in the middle of everything. We headed up North to Corolla for The Wild Horse adventure Tour and down to Nags Head to watch the sunset from Jockey's Ridge State Park. There are many restaurants in Nags Head as well. We loved Kelly's, Plamlico Jacks, and Miller's.
Having a keyless entry is great so you don't waste time getting keys. Upon arrival my husband did a canon ball into the pool. The pool is a great asset; it was warmer than the Ocean and no riptides. There are lots of trees making it more private than other houses. We loved sitting on the deck and watching the deer. The house is a short walk or drive to the beach.
The house is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need including wireless internet (which neither of us can live without). The kitchen is fully outfitted with every bit of cookware, flatware, and dinnerware you could need, even a blender! The linens and towels were a bonus since we didn't have to lug all that down with us. But what impressed us was the thoughtfulness put into the experience. We found loyalty cards to the local grocery stores to get discounts on your purchases, noodles for the pool, and chairs for the beach. Gull Cottage really is a home away from home.
My husband is a very light sleeper and usually beings ear plugs when he travels. He was concerned about hearing hear street noise in the front bedroom but we couldn't hear it over the awesome sound machine!
There is a bike path across from the house, so if you enjoy biking I would say to bring one down or rent one. They are cheap to rent a "beach cruiser" which is a 1 speed bike with pedal brakes.
Our overall experience with Outer Banks Blue, Gull Cottage, and The Outer Banks was outstanding! We really loved how relaxing the Outer Banks is! I would highly recommend this home to anyone going to the Outer Banks!

Our stay was amazing! The house is absolutely perfect - warm and inviting and enough space for my friends and I to have our own space. The pool was beautiful and all of the beach supplies in the pool room were a great bonus! We had a great time and look forward to a repeat in the future.

We loved everything about our recent stay at Gull Cottage! The check in process was a breeze- just go to the house and use the key code that was provided via e-mail.
Upon arrival, the first thing you notice are the small things with this vacation home. Plenty of books if you're a reader, plenty of games to play as a family, a Nintendo in the 3rd bedroom if you have children. However, it doesn't stop there- the home is fully furnished and equipped with everything. The only thing we really needed to bring was clothes and toiletries. The towels are furnished. The bed linens are furnished. The kitchen is fully equipped with every bit of cookware, flatware, and dinnerware you need for your whole trip. The house is decorated beautifully and neatly as well.
In addition, we really loved the pool! I know it sounds a bit corny to spend as much time at the pool as we did when we were only a short distance to the beach, but we absolutely loved the pool!
The other thing that stuck out to me was the thoughtfullness put into the experience. Upon arrival, we found loyalty cards to the local grocery stores that get discounts on your purchases. Since we are not from the area, none of these stores are in our area, so this was a nice touch. In addition, there were parking passes for private beach access- another great benefit!
The overall experience was outstanding! We loved our entire experience, not only staying at Gull Cottage, but the entire Outer Banks experience!
I would highly recommend this home to anyone considering an Outer Banks vacation. In fact, my family is already planning its next visit, and we will make sure to stay at Gull Cottage once again!

We received excellent service from start to finish. We liked the pool the best of course and the front bedroom, which is on the road, is still loud in spite of triple windows in the front. By 3:00 AM last Saturday I could hear people leaving the island already because even though I left at 7:00 the traffic was already backing up. I liked the linens service. It's nice to get there and have you bed made and have towels. There are just too many people coming in and going out of the island on the weekends. If I could check in from Monday to Monday I would be happy. The house is wonderful. I just wish that it was quieter.

Gull Cottage was beautiful, inside and out.
We loved not having to make it to the beach before the realty office closed to get keys - the keyless entry was so simple.
Loved not having to pack towels, bed linens, kitchen towels, etc. Made life easier - and left room for all of the other stuff we never used!
Also liked the checkout - was a breeze!
I love Outer Banks Blue!!! Will definitely use you again!
The cottage was a bit noisy from the street noise - but we'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
We absoutely plan to stay at Gull Cottage many more times in the future - a lovely home - not beachy like all of the others - and the fact that we could bring our furry children with us was icing on the cake. Thank you

Overall a great vacation experience. The Gull Cottage is a fantastic place to spend a vacation. The location is perfect for area shopping and resturants, and an easy and nice walk to the beach. The cottage was very clean upon our arrival and it was great that the cottage is pet friendly. The pool/decks/grill area are also very nice. The bikes are a great addition that the Gull offers, and it is only a short bike ride to the village of Duck. (try Baldies Ice Cream when in Duck) The only negative was the traffic noise from Hwy 12/Duck Rd...Other than that we highly recommed. PS...The Outer Banks Blue people were great to deal with!

The home was extremely well equiped with all the comforts of home. It not only had games for the entire family, but so many books that you had a problem deciding which one you wanted to read on a rainy day. The pool was wonderful and the house was set up that two families could share and have their own privacy. I would recommend this house in a minute to anyone interested in going to the Outer Banks for the first or any time after your first visit. We loved our stay there.

Gull Cottage is a wonderful vacation home! The home & pool provide you a great place to relax and it is conveniently placed in Southern Shores, near Duck and Kitty Hawk. The property is wooded to provide you privacy as well as a home to the resident deer that visit periodically. How amazing to see four deer just beyond the pool!! Sheets & towels are provided for convenience. Can't say enough about how wonderful the vacation at Gull Cottage was. Hope you enjoy it, too!

We really enjoyed the property as it was surrounded by trees which made it cooler than other homes we stayed in. It was pet friendly as the pool is fenced in. The main living feature is all on one floor which was great for our 12 year old German Shepherd. The pool area is really nice and provided sun in the day as well as shade in the evening.
The road is close to the driveway which was a little noisy - but you could not hear this inside. The size of the house was great for my husband and myself - some homes in the area are too big for just 2 people, so this house was perfect.

I just love the Gulf Cottage and look forward to spending many more visits to the outer banks in North Carolina....at this quiet and well-kept little get away.
The Gulf Cottage comfortably sleeps a family of at least six, allows pets and has many amenities that allow for a wonderful visit and stay. Highly recommended home that is very well kept.

We just spent a wonderful week at Gull Cottage in July 2008. It was our first time renting a vacation home and we were very pleased with the cottage and the service that Outer Banks Blue provided us.
The house came furnished with everything that you would need except food. It even had bikes, beach chairs for our use.
