This vacation was a last minute decision. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to find such a nice accomodations at the last minute. The home was decorated and appointed very appropriatly. We were very surprised and extremely pleased to find that the home was'stocked' with everything we needed from cleaning supplies to food prep and cooking utensils to recreational and entertainment options.
The only negative experience we had was the difficulty in payment. Elan would not accept our personal check, wire transfer or even a credit card payment (unless we paid a $50 processing fee). The house was well appointed with great surprises at every turn. If you like to eat in at the beach as we do, flip flop was terrific. We made waffles with the waffle iron, blender drinks with dinner, grilled seafood regularly and used the hot tub daily. Our kids loved this house, they could spread out on the three floors, had plenty to do from the great movie selection to the game room with video games and darts. The beach was a short walk or ride away. The master bedroom was massive and private, everything was just delightful. The owners were great and the house feels like home as soon as you arrive.

We selected the Flip Flop Inn for our first OBX vacation based on the user reviews and photos, which don't do this place justice at all. We loved our vacation there and will make it back as soon as we can!
The home has absolutely everything you could want in a vacation rental, and a few really unexpected niceties, like the beach cart, umbrellas and chairs, which put it over the top. The kitchen is well appointed with cookware and actual sharp knives! There is no shortage of deck space, either. The back deck sports enough room for an outdoor get-together with its built in benches and plenty of chairs. It has a nice gas grill. The front of the house has three deck levels with the hot tub located on the uppermost. The house is very clean and spacious with an open floor plan the pictures can't quite capture.
Being set back from the road makes it nice and quiet. The game room was a hit with the kids and kept them occupied long enough for Mom and Dad to get some peace and quiet! (Note: bring your own memory card for the PS2 if you have one) Cable TVs in every bedroom, the loft, game room and living room. Excellent master suite. Wireless internet worked well. The furniture was clean and comfortable. It is a short walk to the beach down 3rd ave, or you can drive down the street to Hillcrest and park there with the parking pass. Hillcrest is about 1/4 mile away. The home is equipped with an assortment of beach chairs, toys, umbrellas, etc., and has a decent outdoor shower.
George Persico was very attentive to our needs and did his best to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our experience. He called to inquire after us and we had a nice conversation. We had a couple of minor problems when we arrived and George contacted the rental agency and we had it resolved very quickly.
Make sure you take the time to go to Ocracoke and see its pristine undeveloped beaches. Breath-taking. It is worth the drive! Go early and bring a picnic.

House had everything you can imagine. Rooms were spacious and clean. Kitchen had all the cooking utensils... All you need to bring is your food. The walk to the beach was short and there were no crowds in this area. The owners were so nice to check in with us to see everything was ok.

This is our second time staying at the Flip Flop Inn, and we will not go anywhere else. This house has everything you could ask for and it the perfect size. We love the location - we usually spend a day shopping in Duck and Corolla and then a day further south, and this house is centrally located. The owners are kind and we enjoy getting a phone call from them inquiring if everything is to our liking. The beach access up the road w/ parking pass is very convenient as well - close by so you can run back to the house quickly if you forgot something. We can't wait for our next stay at the Flip Flop Inn!!

Very well kept, roomy home. Can not think of any amenity that was not available. Very comfortable home in all respects. Walking distance to beach. Home set back from road so little noise from traffic. Easy access to Duck. Price was reasonable. Had a wonderful time.

The house was beautiful, air conditioned, had plenty of parking, and a lot of conveniences. The wifi, piles of paperbacks, movies, binder with local info and menus, beautiful kitchen, shaded decks, the bike path going right past the house, the beach being 2 blocks away, and especially the hot tub all made for a wonderful getaway that ended way too soon. We will definitely be back.

The owners have thought about all the comforts you could possibly need. Since we were the first rentals after the winter there were a couple of hicups and George was very accomodating making things right for our stay. We loved the hot tub and the open feeling of the house yet woodsy back from the main road. It is a absolutely beautiful home! The kitchen was fully stocked, family room had lots of movies, etc. The only drawback was its proximity to the beach. It was a long walk or you could drive to the pubic beach. Other than that you can't go wrong by renting this home and its location to lots to do in Duck etc. was great!

"There's no place like home..." unless, of course, you've visited the Flip Flop Inn on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. From the moment I stepped into this home, I felt a very warm and welcoming feeling...It didn't hurt that the beach was right across the street (such an easy and pleasant walk), there was a great jacuzzi upstairs, and some of the best seafood restaurants around so close by. The house is so spacious and well appointed. The pictures don't do it justice. I also couldn't believe what I was getting for such an reasonable price! It truly exceeded my expectations. I loved how I was able to bring my bike on my vacation and it was such a great ride into town. Such charming shops to visit and local produce to purchase. They also say "You can't go home again!" Luckily, I know I can always go "home" to the Flip Flop Inn.
