This is the beach house for relaxation! Every amenity provided for your convenience and enjoyment. Spend your week (or 2) at this centrally located beach house - close to great restaurants and shopping. Arrive on Friday to beat the traffic. The keyless entry system makes it a breeze to check in. We provide all beach equipment (chairs, carts, umbrellas, sand toys). Linens are also provided. Our pool and hot tub over-look woods - very private and relaxing. It's a very short walk to the beach and the neighborhood has lots of great bike paths.

L1:Family room, sleep sofa, w/flat-screen cable TV/DVD and Wii Console.

L2:3 BR (MBR w.../K, shower & jetted tub, ceiling fan, cable TV; 1 w/Ts, ceiling fan; 1 w/2 bunks, cable TV/ DVD) bath (w/tub & shower).

  We stayed at this house for the first time. We often stay in Chicahauk as we like the privacy. This house offers a secluded getaway, surrounded by trees and protected from the main roads. It is well appointed, clean and nearby to some wonderful restaurants. It's a short walk to the beach via a wooded, paved path. The house is comfortable, with a huge family room and kitchen. We really appreciated begin able to bring out pups with us and having a quiet location for them to relax on the deck. It was difficult to get them inside! Difficult to say what we liked least as this is such a nice house.

  Upon arriving, we were very thirsty and had stopped for beer and wine en route, but imagine our disappointment and shock when there was NEITHER a bottle opener NOR corkscrew!!! Not our idea of a fully equiped kitchen.
  There were ants in the kitchen, a few of the days, which must have been known, because there was an ant trap on the counter, but it was not effective.
  We found the lack of ground floor bathroom to be inconvenient when using the pool.
  Other than the above irritations, we were pleased with the house.

  Absolutely Perfect!

  Our stay at the home was more than perfect. We rent in the area because of the neighborhood feel with closeness to beach. Our little ones love learning to ride their bikes on the paths throughout the neighborhood. We loved the home. The bedrooms are perfect for our kids. They love having their own room with tv/dvd player to watch movies for naptimes and bedtimes. Pool area is a must have for our family & this home pool is exceptional. Love that our golden retriever can come with us...we wouldn't go to OBX without him. Overall, very nice and comfortable!

  Great House except for the Pool Guy and Gal

  Over the years my family and I have spent many summer vacations renting homes on the Outer Banks peninsula. We always stay in Southern Shores and always rent homes that have a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a large comfortable family room. I would score Awesome Dream a 7 out of 10. The bedrooms, jacuzzi, swimming pool, entertainment center and overall quality of the house were good. Unfortunately the deck was fairly old and frayed and gave my daughters splinters. Another concern was the charcoal grill which was located on the ground level. My family loves to cook on the grill, daily, when on vacation. The home's kitchen is located on the third level which means that when using the grill you have to go up and down the stairs like a football player at training camp. It would have been much more convenient to locate a GAS grill on the deck closer to the kitchen for convenience.
  
  My biggest concern though was the "pool maintenance team" who showed up at the house in the early morning 3 times during my one week stay. Their attitudes suggested that they were really relatives of the owner checking up on us. Beyond the fact that they had no legal right to enter the property during my stay, they used profanity and complained that we were not properly adding water to the pool. They also complained that my daughters were not putting away the pool toys each day. On the final day of our rental they showed up at 9:00 am and insulted my father who is retired and argued with me. I immediately contacted the rental agent who verified that we were not responsible for performing any maintenance on the pool and that the intruders had no legal right to enter the property. I threatened to contact the police and they left the property.
  
  Therefore as an experienced renter in the Southern Shores area of the Outer Banks, I believe the home was clean, comfortable and enjoyable. I wish we could have made better use of the grill and deck. I would rent this property again, but caution that if the "pool maintenance" hooligans are still checking up on renters I do not recommend renting this property. Please read your rental agreement carefully and know your rights and responsibilities. Thanks for reading. JMV

  Nice House

  We have no complaints about this house, other than the neighbors can be a bit noisy at times. The house was clean and roomy and met our needs. There were only 3 of us so there was more than enough room. Easy walk to the beach. We enjoyed the pool and our daughter enjoyed all the kids movies and toys.
