Family Group
PennsylvaniaA nice week with family
Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Blue Lagoon added to the fun family experience we had with it's pool and hot tub and cheerfully furnished house. We appreciated bikes and pool toys that were available for use. Toys, movies, books were enjoyed by our group. A note to future renters, the toy room with futon was too small for an extra sleeping area, but was suitable for video games/movies or a small play area. The turtles in the pond were fun to feed. Decks provided some quiet reading areas.

Scotch Plains, NJa wonderful week
Left on 08/09/2009 for a stay in July 2009
The beach was wonderful as always. The house was good but lacked a few niceties we have come to expect from our Southern Shore rentals. The "playroom" was a 5 by 8 closet; not a plyroom. And the kitchen lacked quite a few utensils we have always had in the past (a potato peeler, a grilling fork and no platters to speak of for fruit, meat, etc).

Riverton, NJMore than to be expected
Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in June 2009
The Blue Lagoon is a charming house located approximately 2 blocks from
the beach. The house was clean and had a bright but slightly dated decor.
Very inviting. The owners obviously take care of their home. They thought
of everything we would need. There was even charcoal for the grill and
extra batteries for the electronics. We brought our beach chairs and toys,
but it definitely was not necessary. There were approximately 6 beach
chairs, a beach umbrella, and tons of pool and beach toys (boogie boards,
blow-up tubes, shovels, buckets, and a wagon to tote it all to the beach.)
We are nature lovers and appreciated that the house was on a wooded lot.
Every day one or more family members would visit the turtles in the back
pond. 20 to 30 turtles would approach to be fed. (They liked bread
products.) We loved this!
During our stay we took the 3 adult bikes and rode around the area. We
crossed Route 12 to the sound side where the canals are located. (Literally a
3 block ride on Hickory. Then turn right over the bridge.) Wow! What a
beautiful area! We were privileged to see deer grazing along the wooded
neighborhood streets. We watched the sun set over the beautiful sound.
(Be sure to ride down the dead end lanes to see the magnificent houses on
the canals. Who can afford to live in such luxury?)
We also appreciated that the Blue Lagoon's turnkey day was a Friday. (It
seems like most OBX rentals turn over on Saturday.) We hit no traffic
entering the island. On Saturday morning my father and I went for a bike
ride along Route 12 to the Food Lion. It was 8 o'clock in the morning. We
were stunned by the amount of traffic on Route 12! It was a parking lot. I
am not a patient person when it comes to sitting in traffic. I was so happy
that I didn't have to endure a giant traffic jam. Yay!
If we go back to North Carolina's Outer Banks, we would definitely stay here
again. We were happy to have stayed at the Blue Lagoon. -

Herndon, VARelaxing and fun
Left on 01/09/2009 for a stay in August 2008
We had a great time at the Blue Lagoon. Our son (age 10) was quite taken with the pond on the property and liked standing on the dock and feeding the fish and the turtles.
All of us enjoyed the pool and we spent as much time there as at the beach. The beach was just a short walk away so that was nice. We tried to do the beach in the morning and the pool in the afternoon.
The house was well equipped. Plenty of room for a family of 4. Our daughter, age 17, had a room on a different floor which gave her privacy as well as her own bathroom and TV. Our son loved the bunk bed and having his own TV as well.
We had no complaints. The rental company personnel were pleasant. The whole transaction went smoothly. We are ready to go back! -

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania"Turtle Time"
Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in September 2007
We first stayed at the Blue Lagoon September 2007, again in 2008 & we have reserved for 2009. Four adults and two mini schnauzers are quite comfortable here. The home is comfortably furnished, clean, just a short walk to the beach and the turtle pond in the back is our favorite spot to gather & feed those guys in the afternoon. We enjoy the pool and the decks as well. The property is private, yet close to pretty much everything we like to do during our visit to the Outer Banks. My sister coined the phrase "Turtle Time" after our first visit and the next year when we re-booked she called a few weeks before our departure for vacation to remind me that it was almost time for "turtle time"!
