This house is nestled amongst the beautiful greenery that Chicahauk is known for, so that it feels as though you're miles from civilization, and yet is only a 10-min walk from the beach (there's a good cut-through to beach access via a trail).
The house is beautifully decorated, the kitchen is well-furbished, and the pool & hot tub were terrific.
An added bonus was a sun-room where we spent many an hour working on puzzles and reading.
We've been staying at Southern Shores for over thirty years, and I would rank this house at the top for its price. Our friends who stayed with us had never been to the Outer Banks and were enchanted with Chicahauk - and the house - and vowed they would return.

The picutres don't do the house justice. Every ammenity you could ask for - beach chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, pool floats, new outdoor shower was great for washing away the sand, etc. etc. Not to mention the house is fully stocked in the kitchen, except for a blender. We had a fantastic time by the pool and the beach front parking is a dream for aging parents. A little far to walk on foot to the beach for little ones though. My only concern was the screens and the pool PH levels, oh, and the ramp from the outside of the house would work better if it also went to the pool area. Easier on senior parents and little ones.

We had such a wonderful week. The weather was perfect. The house is great for larger families or two families staying together. It left us plenty of room with 4 kids to spread out and give my teenager his own "pad" for the week. The beach is a bit farther away then we would have liked but between the pool and the home I didn't want to leave anyway, nor did my kids. We would love to come back this year however based on our budget it may be impossible. 30 years of coming to the outer banks and this was by far the best! Only issue was the a/c worked a little too well bring a sweater!
