Southern Shores Realty makes the whole booking/administrative experience easy. We enjoyed the Talisman very much and it laid out very well for our entire family. We have always been Nags Head People, But Southern Shores is very convienient and accessible to the whole OBX. We also enjoyed the movie theatre room and hot tub. It is a very nice place to get out and walk the neighborhood or sit out on one of the many decks and enjoy the privacy.....Would definitley utilize Southern Shores Realty and The Talisman again...

The purpose of our rental was twofold; one: to have a place to stay for the final arrangements during the week before our daughter's wedding, and two: to have a single location for family members to stay during the wedding weekend in the OBX, in lieu of a hotel. Staying the full week just made more sense than just a few days before the special event, so my wife and I decided to rent a house. Southern Shores Realty (SSR) was recommended by a local family, so the decision was rather easy to make. The hard part was selecting from the many SSR properties in the Chicahauk district, the designated wedding site. All in all, the decision worked very well. We will again consider renting a house from Southern Shores Realty, hopefully in the coming year.
Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. We really enjoyed the service and the overall OBX experience.

the floorplan is excellent and wide open!!!!!! first floor theatre room is fantastic and huge, also can not be heard throughout rest of home. house is very solid and quiet inside and located in a great neighborhood, very close but tucked into your own little world. the dry parking is great for loading/unloading. all bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, especially master suite on 3rd floor, the bathroom is excellent! we have been renting from southern shores for 6 years and this was the best yet!

Once I found the Southern Shores Realty website and realized the selection, that's where I concentrated my search for our vacation house. Then I decided that Southern Shores offered us the best location - right off of 158 but close to both Duck and all the stuff on the whole Kitty Hawk/Nags Head strip. I narrowed it down to several houses, but the Talisman had more of the features we wanted. We had 3 families - grandparents, and 2 young families, each with one small child. So each couple had their own bedroom (king and queens) with private baths, and each child had her own room and a bath to share, in addition to half baths on the top and bottom floors. We wanted an extra family room so there was room to spread out when we didn't want to all do the same thing. We set up the Wii in the downstairs playroom and used that refrigerator for extra drinks. I knew we might want to play games, use our laptops, etc., so I wanted an extra table. The Talisman has a really nice dining table with 8 chairs, so we could all eat together, plus a round table and 4 chairs, and stools at the bar for the kitchen. We had our own pool to enjoy without packing up and driving somewhere, we enjoyed the hot tub after the babies went to bed, and the path to the beach was right next to the house with a 5 minute walk to the beach -using the wagon to haul our stuff. A nice gas grill, plenty of deck and pool furniture, washer and dryer - except for needing a cookie sheet in the kitchen, we had all the comforts of home and then some. The house is decorated tastefully, the beds and furniture are all in good condition, new appliances. It was also safe for our toddler since the back decks don't have steps from one level to the next and the pool steps from the middle deck has a big gate on it. The outside showers also came in handy after the ocean. This house is the perfect size for 3 families with children!

The house was great. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We had some issues with the internet working properly. It was clean comfy and cozy!

We had a really nice time in Southern Shores and this house was beautiful, spacious and very well stocked. It was a short trip to the beach. We have stayed in Southern Shores before and really like the area. The realtors were very friendly and helpful.
We would definitely come back again.

The property needed a little TLC. The kitchen was lacking several cooking items or some pots/pans needed to be replaced. Hot tub cover had a leak and made it very hard for one person to take off.

We had a wonderful time at Talisman, but had a few problems there:
1. Could not get onto the internet for my husband to conduct some business while there.
2. Had to buy belts for the vacuum and fixed it to able to use.
3. Pool had not been cleaned.
4. Hot tub was not working.

This is a lovely home in a secluded nieghborhood. The house was convenient to the beach and shopping. There is plenty of room to spread out. We had to be very careful in the family room area because of the four glass topped tables. These were not good for our small children. We asked the rental company about pool furniture, because there was no chairs to sit around the pool, but they never answered us.

I haven't stayed in this particular house but have rented from Southern Shores for years. We had three couples who rented this house together. The house couldn't have been more perfect for us to have a quiet get-away during vacation time between college semesters. This was a group of college professors and spouses. Thanks for making this great house available. I hope we'll be able to come to it again soon.
