The property we stayed in was great. It was so clean when we arrived, we were very impressed. The layout was perfect for all of us and the multiple decks were outstanding. We would definitely stay in this property again.
The only thing we had a problem with was the dryer. It got hot, but did not seem to blow air, so we were not able to get our clothes dry. Other than that, it was GREAT!!! -

Vacationing on the Outer Banks has always been a privilege to me, as coming from Ohio, leaves one only longing for the next visit. Vacations are really every dream come true, as the beauty of the beach, the interesting wildlife, and the fantastic weather makes one really think long and hard on even returning home. TOP OF THE DUNE was perfect for my family for a number of reasons. Located in a lovely secluded area, but yet within walking distance to the beach. Bright and very accommodating, it just seemed like every comfort it provided anticipated us as its guest. We were able to take walks with our pets around the quiet neighborhood, hop in the car for a scenic drive or shopping, and spend a day at the beach --all just to be topped by returning home to a beautiful beach house.

The bedrooms in this house are roomy and the communal area (kitchen and living room are spacious. We really enjoyed the dining room table which was also good for games in the evenings. There were plenty of comfortable couches for watching TV and reading. The kitchen, including silverware, glasses and cooking supplies was well stocked, which I greatly appreciate. The house is in a good location. The Southern Shores guarded beach area is relatively close; school age children and older can easily walk or bike to the beach. Duck is a short drive or healthy bike ride up the road. I also liked the screened porch. I would definitely rent this house again.
Note to Southern Shores: We go to Southern Shores to be with family, swim in the ocean and explore the natural surroundings. The more houses you can offer like this (without the fancy stuff like hot tubs and swimming pools) the more likely we are to rent from Southern Shores. -

We had stayed in this home almost 20 years ago. It was still a wonderful experience. We appreciated being able to bring the dogs.
The beach was just down the hill and the place was convenient to everything. -

We enjoyed our stay at top of the dune. It's a great location just off route 12 which makes it very quiet. It's a very quick walk to the beach and to the sound. We loved our cocktail walks with our dog over to the sound to watch the sunset. It's a very short walk to duck village on the beach or by trail. This property is great for 2 to 8. The kitchen is very equipped. There is no view of any water but since it is so close to ocean and sound
it doesn't matter. We look forward to staying there again this year.
