      Home in need of a little TLC

      The rental staff was polite, courteous, and responded quickly to any maintence requests. However, the home is in need of some TLC. Kitchen material needed replaced and updated (dull knives that don't cut, cutting boards that are extremely overused...ect). Water damage visible, curtains in the room did not fit the sliding doors (sun always coming through even at the crack of dawn), screens ripped with holes in them, and pool furniture broken are just a few of the examples I can think of.The home was not the home we expected for the price - we have rented much nicer homes from other realty agencies in OBX for the same price.

      Nice house, perfect location!

      This house has an ideal location... seconds away from route 158/Ocean Blvd Intersection and close to grocery stores and Walmart for convenience. Very short walk to the beach access walkway, and nicely-sized pool made for good opportunities to stay cool. It is a short drive to all major attractions in both Nags Head and Duck communities.

      Something to keep in mind... you may want to bring along DVD players for the bedrooms as they are not provided in most.

      Great balconies on middle and top floors, but limited seating out there so you may want to bring lawn chairs.

      Kitchen was well-equipped including plenty of dishes and glasses.

      A wonderful week!

      What a great vacation spot. Directly across from the beach. (4 minute walk)!!! The house was clean, comfortable, and inviting. We enjoyed every day we were there. It is in a great location. The beaches were never crowded, like they were up in corolla the year before. This Rookery was absolutely wonderful. Take advantage of this great value!!!

      This home was excellent for our family of fifteen.

      Great house; very good maintenance response; outstanding location.
      Amenities/kitchen supplies were good.
      We really liked the fact that our four children's families could each have their own "master" bedroom.
      More cribs would have been helpful.

      This is a nice house and we had great service by Seaside vacation. Few minor problem when got into the house but Seaside was there within the hour fixing everything.The house was big and I would rent again but there are a few things the house was lacking. We had no pot holder and limited kitchen supplies. A small pan is not very useful when cooking for 15 people. A manuel to house would be helpful too, tons of switches but not really sure what work what. Never did find the switch to turn on the pool light. The yard could be better maintained too. A vacuum cleaner would of been very useful. Over all the house was nice and I would stay here again.

      Wonderful and spacious

      The house was great! Very Clean and well decorated. We loved the in-ground pool and the pool table. We were happy to see a gas grill there for our use. We got our exercize going up/down the steps. One improvement would be the sofa on the middle level(not very comfortable). The beds were very comfortable and we loved everyone having their own bath.

      Enjoyment after Problems Fixed

      The following problems were encountered upon our arrival: 3rd floor (main area where kitchen/living room/dining room and master bedroom were located) air conditioner was not working, had frozen up.
      Crib side rail broken - would not stay up. Pack & Play side support broken - would not stay up.
      High chair plastic seat cover ripped.
      A/C was fixed the same day.
      Pack & Play and High Chair were replaced. Crib was never fixed or replaced.
      The grill was unusable. A gas grill was brought to us by realtor.
      No table/umbrella poolside.
      No lounge furniture on decks, only a couple of folding chairs to sit on.
      With just a few upgrades this house would be much improved.
      After most of problems were resolved we all enjoyed the house (for the most part) and it's location, and would rent it again if the upgrades were made.

      Perfect

      We recently stayed at the Rookery in Southern Shores. There were 15 of us total, family with teenagers and two small children. It was the perfect place for us, plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, great table for dining, kitchen was well supplied. Everything was very well kept, clean, organized. We would absolutely return, hoping to next year.

      Great vacation house

      The house was very nice and accommidated all 10 of us plus a baby. It was well stocked with kitchen items so that made packing easier. Some stuff, such as carpet could afford to be replaced (but i understand with renting it is hard to keep it nice)

      We had a great time and the home was well worth the money we each spent. Much cheaper then going to crowed OC MD for a week.

      We would definitely come again and will use Seaside Vacations as well.

      A house with great potential....needs more substance!

      The layout of the home was awesome. We loved the decor, the fact that every room had its own bathroom, the multiple refridgerators, dishwashers. The hot tub was great, the outdoor shower was nice and convenient. The exterior door to the downstairs bathroom was awesome for using the bathroom while outside by the pool. Landscaping was nice and the parking area was great.

      Here are the reasons we will not rent this house again:
      1. No blinds on the main level, yes we were at the beach, but we would like shade options inside. Could not see the TV durring the day. At night we felt exposed to the neighbors
      2. Kitchen cabinets were empty and most appliances had a broken part.
      3. Laundry room light did not work, had to replace the light bulb.
      4. Only one interior trash can, only in the kitchen. Should have one in the basement by the fridge and one outside with the pool.
      5. Had to put our own batteries in TV remote controls.
      6. Kitchen Table was nasty. It always felt sticky and dirty, even after wiping it down. Needs to be refinished, along with the hard wood floor.

      We know this house has the potential to be great, it just needs some TLC.

All of our homes are individually owned and will be decorated according to the taste and needs of the homeowner. We will always be willing to take care of any maintenance as needed on our homes, but we were not made aware of the bulb out or any of the missing batteries during your stay.

      We will pass along your comments to the homeowner about the furnishings and need for some updates.

      We are glad to see that despite the minor inconveniences, you still enjoyed your stay enough to add two additional nights to your stay at this home. We look forward to being able to welcome you to the Outer Banks again for a future stay.

      Relaxing Vacation

      My entire family had a great time. The 3 grandchildren loved the evenings at the ocean feeding the seagulls and the days at the pool. Great location, close to the beach(about 1 block)and everything else we wanted to do and see.

      The house was great and looked just like to pictures on the internet. Rooms nice and everyone had their own bathrooms. If you have elderly people the stairs can be alot to climb (3 flights from top to bottom). The kitchen was nice with lots of seating space. We did have an issue with the sink but my husband was able to fix it.

      During the day we rode bikes, went to the beach and enjoyed our own pool. Our evening were spent playing pool and playing frisbee with the kids. After dark we sat on the deck and enjoyed the evening breeze and our favorite drinks. Really relaxing!!

      I would bring extra towels unless you want the service to provide them. Grill could have been larger (and cleaner!). It was old and the park grill was on the other side of the house. We cleaned it and just cooked in shifts.

      If you like seafood, we had a great Picnic dinner (Clams, Crab legs, Oysters, corn and potatoes steamed) from the shoppes around the corner. They have a great Deli too.

      I would recommend this home and would visit again.
