As you pull into the yard you’ll notice right away that much love has gone into making the gardens and lawn as beautiful as they can be! The nautical themed colors of the bedrooms and the light, airy, open living spaces, will melt your stress and your heart the moment you step inside this 1963 ocean bungalow. Renovated in 2004, this three bedroom, two bath cottage is an absolute delight.
The Main Floor, which is actually upstairs adding to the stellar views, has a wall of windows with sliding doors leading out to the deck. The open-concept main living room has a glassed-in fireplace, stylish yet very comfy furniture and beautiful, unique touches lovingly added by the owners. The sunny kitchen has all the modern touches needed to inspire succulent meals! You will love the butcher block cart! A bedroom with a King bed as well as a full bath are also located on the main floor.
The Lower Levell has an additional family room with a fire place, TV and casual furniture. Two bedrooms, both with a Queen beds, and a full bathroom round out the lower level. An Aero Bed (double) is available.
As lovely as the inside is, the story of this cottage is outside! Large open deck with electric awning for when you have had too much sun and want shade. Southport Island is a hidden treasure on the Boothbay Peninsula. Eight miles for Boothbay Harbor, you cross the historic swing bridge onto the island and feel the world change around you. You know you are on vacation. Small sandy beaches, large expanses of rocky shoreline, views of islands and open ocean, walking, kayaking, fishing and more! This quaint and historical part of Maine is treasured by the few who know of it! From the shore you can see Cape Island owned by Margaret Hamilton who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. A pair f Ruby Red Slippers are on display at the Islands library. Hendricks Head Lighthouse and Beach are just a short ride away for those who prefer swimming on more of a sandy beach. Rachel Carson frequented Southport often and mentions the area in her books.
