Charlottesville, VirginiaWell-cared for home in a great location
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our family of 5 stayed at the cabin for a week in mid-August. It was clear that the owners take good care of this house and prepare it well for their rental season. The kitchen is well-stocked and the house is well-equipped. It is within walking distance to town and the harbor. The owner was easy to correspond with. Clearly a well-loved house.

Toledo, OhioThis is very clean, well-accomodated, and in a great location!
Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Our family just returned from a week in this great cabin. We wanted to be very close to acadia National Park, but not in a busy area. The location was perfect for this. The cabin is within walking distance of a small town with great restaurants and stores, and a very short drive (some 5 minutes, some 10 minutes, some 15 minutes) to all the sights of the national park. And when you return to the cabin you experience its quiet and natural setting at its best. It was rejuvenating to be there.
The owners have obviously taken a lot of time and effort to make their home user-friendly. It comes equipped with everything you need for cooking and relaxing. Everything is clean and cared for, and the entire cabin has a cozy yet spacious feel to it.
Very highly recommended! -

Carmel, NYFantastic home for an amazing vacation
Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Just got back from an amazing vacation. The Cabin allowed us a home away from home while visiting acadia and MDI.
First, the location is terrific: About 5-10 minutes by car to the supermarket and Echo Lake (great for a dip to cool off), a short walk into town for dinner or coffee, 15-20 minutes to the main areas in acadia. Mike and Dee left three days worth of suggestions of activities which were perfect and a stress free way to start the week--the best were Rich's Lobster Pound in Bass Harbor and the Ship Harbor Trail (great place to picnic!). I would add sunrise on Cadillac Mountain--breath taking.
Second, the house is incredibly well stocked. Everything from Lobster pots to paper towels and laundry soap. It differentiated this house from any other rental. Well worth getting Lobsters from Rich's and boiling them up and eating on the deck. Every meal we ate outside, a really nice outdoor space and the hammock was a huge hit after outdoor activities!
Honestly, it was our best vacation ever and the cabin was a huge part of that. It feels very remote and secluded although in a great quiet town.
Can't wait to plan our next trip to acadia and Mendelson Cabin.
P.S. Fidler's Green is a restaurant not to be missed. -

New York CityHome away from home!!
Left on 02/05/2012 for a stay in June 2011
We have stayed at this cabin four times now - this house will become your home away from home.
The house is spotless, and all the furnishings are comfy. There is lots of room for everyone to sleep and the beds are very comfortable. Additionally, the house has plenty of room to hang out in, whether it is next to the cozy fire place in the living room, where you can relax, read and play games, or on the beautiful outside deck.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything from pots/pans to spices/condiments. Everything you need, from a lobster boil to a gourmet meal.
The location is perfect for taking walks to the water and picking up fresh lobster/crab, hiking in acadia National Park, exploring the Cranberry Islands, and going into Bar Harbor to look around or for a night out.
We've loved our stays! We only wish they could be longer and more often.

New York, NYRelaxing Vacation Getaway
Left on 02/04/2012 for a stay in September 2011
First, and most importantly, everything which Mike (the owner) posted on FlipKey, including the photos, was totally accurate, and you couldn't ask for a finer owner than Mike - he was courteous, prompt, responsive and reliable. The log cabin is spacious but cozy, open-feeling, cheerful and uplifting. The location and the dense trees and foliage make it feel secluded (and it is really, really quiet), yet the neighbors are close by, and it's just a 5-minute walk to the beautiful ocean, and maybe another 5 or 10 minutes into town. It's a perfect location for walking and biking, with plenty of rolling topography, but nothing steep. The cabin was meticulously cleaned before our arrival. We found that it had everything we needed for a long stay - it is not only fully accessorized with many of the items you would have in your own home, but the modern kitchen is also equipped and stocked with most of the spices, oils, condiments and other goodies you'd need to whip up and serve an inviting meal. All in all, a great place to relax in or to come home to after a day of sightseeing, walking, hiking , biking or whatever you fancy.

Perfect location within walking distance to lovely harbor town. House is extremely comfortable and well located. Everything you need and more (TV, Internet,DVD fully stocked kitchen)Nice sculpture in garden. Low to no maintenance. So much to do on the Island. Can't say enough about this place. Owners spared no expense in preparing this house for two or three couples to share or a large family. We will be back!

New York CityBeautiful, quiet, comfortable and conveniently and located for a
Left on 02/01/2012 for a stay in July 2010
My wife and I stayed at this cabin for a week in July 2011 and had a wonderful time. The cabin itself is beautiful, very quaint and comfortable and so different from anywhere else we had stayed. We are from NY and normally holiday in modern hotels and this was a wonderful change. The house is very well equipped, comfortable and private. We woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside the window and had a wonderful time picking up lobsters from the local fisherman and cooking them ourselves for lunch on the front porch. We could easily walk into town for a meal or a drink or a browse around the local shops and acadia National Park is only about 20 minutes away. Touristic information about the area and acadia are left in the house, which was also very helpful as was the provision of beach chairs and towels. We had a great time and felt very relaxed at the end of the holiday.
