About Spain

Located on the Iberian Peninsula in Western Europe's southern quarter, Spain is a lively and colorful country. From Arabic-influenced architecture of the country's southern regions to the grandeur of Madrid, visitors to Spain marvel at the incredible architectural diversity in the country's cities. Spain is also a culturally rich nation, with Catalonia and Galicia counting among its autonomous internal divisions. The Canary Islands and Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea lend the nation even more exotic flavor.
Some of the top attractions in Spain include:
-Madrid: The majestic capital of Spain is home to the Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor and the Museo del Prado, three of the most popular and striking attractions in all of Europe.
-Barcelona: A lively, friendly coastal city, Barcelona is perhaps the best place to come if you want to take part in an authentic Spanish fiesta.
-Catalonia: This region is home to the city of Barcelona, but exploring beyond the city's limits is well worth your effort. With enchanting towns and a beautiful countryside, this is one of the best places to go camping in Spain if you're in the mood for outdoor adventure.
-Galicia: Legendary for its regional cuisine, Galicia is also home to the famous Way of St. James, an important Christian pilgrimage route.
-The Mediterranean islands: An ideal setting for a wedding or honeymoon in Spain, or simply a relaxing beach vacation, the Canary and Balearic Islands groups rank among the most beautiful and desirable destinations in Europe.
If you're traveling with your family, you'll also find tons of theme and water parks in Spain; they're dotted throughout the country in every region, and make for an ideal way to relax and keep the kids entertained for the day.
For your Spanish holiday, consider staying in a vacation rental instead of a hotel. You'll enjoy a more authentic experience as well as have more privacy and all the comforts and amenities of home. Plenty of options are available in all budget ranges, both in the city and in the countryside.
If you want to explore the area further, Spain shares borders with Portugal, tiny Andorra, and France. Adventurous travelers may choose to head south across the Mediterranean for a visit to northern Africa.
