Tobacco and Cigarette smoke dominated the experience

Left on 10/10/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Booked for 5 days, on the second day we were asked to leave.
The owner Mario and his in your face cigarette smoking mother lied, so they could take in a higher paying guest leaving our family with children stranded, carting luggage & looking for accommodation during peak season.
      Beware!

Stayed one night but could have stayed forever!

We booked the Grisogono Palace last minute for one night on booking.com.We got a really good rate of 99 euro's.This apartment is within the Diocletian Palace walls an excellent location for exploring the old city with numerous restaurants right on your door step.We were very fortunate as the night we stayed there was opera in the square right outside of which we had a birds eye view for free! The apartment(if you can call it that)has been beautifully restored & the owner & her son who met us to let us in are very proud of it's history. She said the ceiling alone had taken 14 years to restore to it's magnificent glory. The lounge area was beautiful, kitchen galley area basic(but then who wants to cook with all the mouth watering restaurants that Split has to offer.I only have 2 gripes, one being we didn't realise there was a switch on the outside of the bathroom to generate hot water(Hubby had a hot shower,I had a cold one!) the other was there is only one air con unit in the lounge area(it looks like they are planning one for the bedroom as there is an enormous wire sticking out of the wall) & because it was so hot when we visited the cold air didn't reach the bedroom.Overall our stay was fantastic.breakfast which is included is taken in a nearby restaurant which we thought was a really nice touch & you can have what ever you like & staff were very friendly.Would definitely stay at the Grisogono Palace again was one of my favourite places to stay on our Croatia roadtrip.

Best luxury apartment in Split Croatia

Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Where do I begin! What a gorgeous apartment. The photographs are true to life. The apartment has some original details such as the 13th century decorative ceiling, venetian glass windows, and gorgeous stone walls. It is decked out with modern furniture, a large comfortable couch (music channel on the flat screen tv in both the lounge & bedroom). Open plan functional kitchenette. Windows which can be opened right up to the breeze, roman ruins & hustle & bustle of the street below. It is right in the centre of everything in Split! Location is absolutely perfect! The main oldtown square is next to the lounge room & live acoustic music can be heard some nights which created a fantastic vibe. The bedroom was a quiet escape down the other end of the apartment. They've done a good job soundproofing the bedroom. The apartment is very new hence no feedback. Look no further-this apartment will not disappoint!!! The owners are also really lovely-just like everyone in Split!

      Fantastic atmosphere and location

Left on 05/09/2012 for a stay in April 2012

You could not be more central. The apartment with its historic ceiling and spacious rooms makes you feel part of ancient Split and the palace.
A lively place with evening music below the window in Peristil Square below the clock tower.
Recently renovated to a high standard with air conditioning, TVs in bedroom and lounge and wi-fi.
Don't be too greedy with the shower though as the hot water will run-out. Soap up with the shower off and you will be fine. Water hots up quickly alllowing next person to shower.
      A great stay.
