    Additional Location Information

Terrazza Bella is located in the best part of Spoleto village, the pedestrian centre, amidst shops, bars and restaurants, in the famous palazzo of Rocca Dei Perugini, constructed at the turn of the century, when Spoleto was occupied by the Perugini for 2 years !! Fortuntely, the Spoletini fought back, dousing their enemy with burning oil, tipped from the top of the equally famous Torre Del Olio, a few metre up the lane, terminating with a fierce battle that took place in front of the Rocca Dei Perugini. This is how the Spoletini regained Spoleto and why since those time, there remains an unease between the Spoletini and the Perugini, the former believing Spoleto should be the capital of Umbria, not Perugia !

So, if you want to stay in a comfortable apartment, immersed in history, step into the street for your gelato, cappuccino, truffles, fine wines, pastas, clothes to die for, walk for 15 minutes to the top of Spoleto to Il Ponte, possibly the largest Roman aquaduct in the world……and, so very beautiful, cross the bridge and arrive in the foothills of the Apennines, spell-blinding beauty at every twist and turn, look no further than the selection of apartments we are offering, including Terrazza Bella. No wonder Prince Charles declared Spoleto to be his favourite city in the world - but, don't let this put you off !!

Spoleto is pure magic, a tiny city with a village feel, where fantasy meets reality….and, each day will unfold to reveal ever increasing delights.

If a fun packed holiday attracts you, offering you everything from grape picking, visiting museums, clothes shopping to fine cuisine, then, visit Spoleto !

Great apartment in medieval centre with the best hosts you could

Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013

I can't speak highly enough about this apartment or the hosts. Want to imagine you really are living in Bella Italia? Stay here. A spacious, renovated apartment with large terrace in the medieval centre of magnificent, Spoleto: an Umbrian hilltop city full of art and history, that includes a castle resided in by Lucrezia Borgia, and a city gate that was visited by Hannibal and his last elephant. Laurie and Norma are the best hosts you could imagine, there are personal touches and colourful extras in this apartment that make your stay sublime, you can feel the passion and care in what these two do, and they offer great tips re local restaurants and outings. But hey, what am I telling you for? I want this place again for me next year...and the year after...and the year after that. Fortunately Norma and Laurie manage lots of great rental apartments (because you will have to fight me for this one :)

      We will be back

Left on 08/07/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Our family spent two sunny weeks in Norma and Laurie's "Terrazza Bella”. The apartment was everything we had hoped for and more. The terrace was indeed the bonus, offering a cool breeze in the evening when dining outdoors or when listening to soft evening music from the piazzas below. The balcony on the front of the apartment provided a view of the pedestrians as they strolled along the shops, gelato in hand. Norma's web site, her introduction to Spoleto and her Welcome Package were very helpful and we visited almost all of her suggested "osterias” never to be disappointed. Laurie met us at a prearranged spot and we followed him by car to the apartment. (We recommend "splurging” for a secure parking spot if you do visit by car, although a vehicle is not necessary in this pedestrian friendly city). Because we arrived during an unusually hot period in June, Laurie was quick to add another fan to the two waiting in the apartment. The pool at Villa Marianna was a favourite part of our day and was a perfect spot to cool down after touring beautiful Spoleto and the surrounding villages. We will definitely return and we highly recommend a holiday booking through Norma and Laurie.

We had a great three nights here, and really enjoyed the location, in the town and the area of Umbria. Could have happily spent longer. Laurie was very helpful meeting us and guiding us to the handy carpark he arranged, and settling us in. As well as good information about the area in the apartment, everything else was well set up and comfortable, with a medieval front to the building and modern back with nice deck, lift and views. We had a great swim at another of Laurie's properties, which although not that easy to find was a great spot.

Beautiful, central location to tour Umbria from

Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My family and I visited Italy and april and May of this year, and used Spoleto as a base for just over two weeks. Terrazza Bella was a beautiful, clean apartment in an idyllic setting and had all the amenities one could need! We travelled with my 5 year old son - and the location and setting was perfect. It was quiet and out of the cities - but had all the conveniences! Easy walking to the train (we ended up not renting a car it was so easy) and grocery stores, shops, fabulous restaurants (highly recommend 9Cento Casual Restaurant - by far our favorite and the owner andrea is most gracious and helpful) historic sites and even a couple of playgrounds. Spoleto is full of good finds - my son loved the escalators to the top of the hills - did it countless times. We cannot wait to go back!

Norma and Laurie Williams were the property managers and ended up being one of the best parts of Spoleto - they were so helpful beyond what we ever would have expected - and such a treat to have met! Cannot wait to meet again! Thanks so much.

Laurie and Norma are professionals in their efforts to be good hosts, that of course is very nice in itself. On top of that the accomodations are exactly as advertised and take you back to a much more basic period of time where the stress of life does not seem to exist as it does in North america and elsewhere. Loved every minute of it.

Excellently located right in the centre of Spoleto. The apartment was part of an old block full that was full of character and lived in by other Italians. Gives you some insight into the local life of the city. Lovely terrace with good views over Spoleto. A bit noisy at night due to it's location so we had to sleep with the windows closed. The apartment is comfortable - not luxorious -but is nicely open planned and tastefully decorated. Comfy sofas. The swimming pool is wonderful with great views across the valley - we hired a car so could reach it independently. Resturant on site at the pool cooked some of the best food we tasted in Italy. The owners were really welcoming, approachable and helpful.

A totally positive experience in beautiful Spoleto...

Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Our week at Terrazzo Bella was just about perfect. The apartment was just right for me and my daughter - we each had a nice bedroom as well as one good bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped with lots of treats left by Laurie and Norma. The terrace was lovely and we spent lots of time enjoying the view and many potted flowers. You can walk out to just about everything - shopping, restaurants, even the train station. Trains bring you easily to other hill towns like Spello, a gorgeous flower filled spot. Norma and Laurie are both very attentive and we so enjoyed our lunch at Villa Marianni, a highlight of our trip. Already we've made plans to return with husband and another couple next May. Really the only suggestion I gave Norma was that for me (maybe not for everyone) the mattresses were quite hard. In all a lovely spot that I will return to and that I have already referred friends to. Norma rents other great apartments in the same complex. Ciao. Ciao.

I travelled with a family friend for several days then stayed solo. The whole experience was just what I wanted - to stay in one place rather than touring,
      and live the Italian lifestyle.
Terrazza Bella (and Terrazza Splendida were lovely - very clean and comfortable - close to amenities, very central. Laurie and Norma were delightful hosts - very helpful
I would reccommend this holiday destination very favourably.

Firstly, our sincere thanks to Laurie and Norma who made us so welcome and took great care of us. Laurie, despite train delays always managed to meet us. Great suggestions for restaurants and side trips and always available for suggestions. We did rent a car and paid the 50 euros for the on site parking and would recommend this if exploring is desired. Loved "Bella" for the lovely terrace, view,convenience- the best of both worlds as it overlooked the quaint old part of town with all the shops . Altho' busy, we never had any trouble sleeping as things quieted around 10pm. Umbria is quite lovely and enjoyed other hill towns but Spoleto is the best place ot stay. Campello del Clitunno was our favourite restaurant. We miss it all now that we are home.

      Great Stay in Spoleto

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Terazza Bella is a great apartment, very well equipped and in a great position for exploring Spoleto. We rented a car space which I felt was definitely worth the money for the convenience of carrying luggage etc. I would also feel confident staying here without a car as I feel Laurie has got a good system organised with transport to and from the station.

The apartment itself is very well stocked with heaps of really good quality kitchen equipment. There was also some food supplied as a welcome pack which I thought was really great. The terrace is a delightful place to sit and take in the scenery.

Laurie, the owner of the apartment, is very helpful and friendly and I would definitely be happy to stay here again and recommend the apartment to friends.

Terrazza Bella was the ideal location for a chance to explore Spoleto and surrounds. We particularly appreciated being greeted at the railway station and shown all the details of the apartment by Laurie, and also to meet Norma in person as well. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. We loved the views from the terrace. The picturesque walks through the old town and the surrounding countryside were delightful experiences.

Left on 10/21/2010 for a stay in October 2010

This is the second time I have stayed in apartments from Umbria Holiday Rentals. Both times I have been extremely satisfied from the initial correspondence to the final drive to the station. I do however feel it necessary to mention this time that something seemed to be wrong with the bed I slept in at Terrazza Bella. It was in the first bedroom from the hall entrance. The squeak was so loud that not only did it keep me awake but also my friend in the next bedroom. I switched to the other twin the next night and it was better but both beds seemed to lack proper support. Of course firmness is always a matter of personal preference but loud squeaks are not. I have no doubt that this will be promptly looked at as Laurie and Norma always are eager to insure that all is well with their rentals. I would have no hesitation renting from them again.

Fabulous location in old town Spoletto.

Left on 09/27/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Terrazza Bella is as advertised, a lovely apartment with a great outdoor space located right in the centre of old town Spoletto. There are multiple excellent restaurants and a great variety of shops nearby and Spoletto itself is easy to navigate. A car is absolutely not necessary but if like us you like to get out and about, we would recommend that you take the private parking space attached to the apartment as trying to park locally would be a nightmare. If you do have a car, Spoletto is an excellent base to explore Umbria with assissi, Perugia, Todi, Lake Trasimeno and Rome all within striking distance. However, we decided to take the train to Rome and it was easy to organise and hassle free.
Laurie and Norma, the owners could not have been more helpful and we have no reservations in recommending this apartment.

Great apartment to rent in central Spoleto!

Left on 01/26/2010 for a stay in May 2008

We have stayed in Terrazza Bella once and Terrazza Splendido on our second visit and would highly recommend either apartment.

The apartments are supplied properly serviced with clean linen and a generous welcome pack - a blessing if you arrive late as we did. They also have good international SKY TV with loads of English speaking, movie, news and children’s channels. Best for us is the bonus of a free internet connection. Terraces are situated with open views to the hills and at the rear of the building which means you escape the buzz of the passeggiata but can join in easily (great fun!) if you wish.

Furnishings are more than adequate – comfortable rather than luxurious. These apartments represent tremendous value for money – even if there are only two of you staying and are a perfect base for exploring not only Spoleto but southern Umbria too.

We found the location to be ideal for the historical centre of Spoleto with all the attractions within an easy (albeit sometimes quite steep) walk. If you don’t fancy the walk then there are regular buses which run in circuits round the one way system and also to other nearby towns and villages. I believe that a new lift is to open soon connecting the lower part of the town to the central and upper areas.

There are also several terrific restaurants in the town (details of which are left in the apartment) again all within strolling distance. PM me if you want my favourites.

I haven’t been able to figure quite why Spoleto doesn’t figure more prominently on the Umbrian Tourist circuit – not that I’m complaining as it resultantly retains an admirable Italian quality. Best of all it is buzzing at night time in start contrast to many of the more well trodden tourist towns which evecuate at night time. It has loads to offer – fabulous walks with lovely views, Roman history, opera, festivals, food – can’t wait to get back!
