What is your "ideal Holiday" like?....oeno-gastronomic, adventurous, naturalistic, historic, artistic, relaxing, religious/spiritual?
Spoleto offers all these aspects mixed together...an unmissable experience during your trip in Italy.

SPOLETO: "THE AMENITIES OF A VIBRANT TOWN COMBINED WITH THE PROXIMITY TO COUNTRYSIDE AND MOUNTAINS"!
2 holidays together: city break + countryside retrait = if you decide to book a house in the countryside, then you'll have to take the car every day, even to taste an ice cream! On the contrary, if you just book an apartment in a town, you have to take the car or bus to reach mountains and the countryside, or walk for some kms. In Spoleto these 2 kinds of holiday are combined together!
Spoleto is a charming historic town, full of cobbled and arched alleys, within easy walking distance of mountains and woods. This is the main quality of Spoleto and the reason why it is so much appreciated by visitors from all over the world: you have the amenities of an urban centre combined with the close proximity to the surrounding countryside and mountains, without taking a car! Departing from Spoletium holiday apartments, in a few mins you can reach the Ponte delle Torri (Towers Bridge), a spectacular medieval aquaduct that connects the upper part of Spoleto to the hills and then crossing into the woods and mountains. Here you have easy flat panoramic footpaths or the possibility to climb up the mountains, following the "Franciscan Footpath".

The centre of the ancient town is almost completely pedestrian, with shops, bars, museums, theatres, old libraries and excellent restaurants. Just a few steps from the apartments you have Medieval and Roman monuments, wonderful Romanesque churches and convents, beautiful squares where, in the evenings you'll find outdoor concerts, during the mornings the daily farmers' markets or the characteristic antique market.
Staying in central Spoleto, you don’t need a car to get around, you can use public transportation to visit nearby cities and villages but, if you prefer, I can help you in renting a car during your stay. Everything is within very easy walking distance, even the train and bus station. The closest bus stop is 30 metres away and the train station is 15-20 minutes walking distance. Local buses and taxi service available. To visit Spoleto is easy for old people or mothers with babies because of the underground moving walkways, 8 sets of escalators and underground elevators. Spoleto, with its central location, is the ideal departure to explore the main cities of art and villages in Umbria and Central Italy. Rome is 1 hour and 30 mins away by train and Florence is 2 hours away.
Spoleto boasts a strong cultural tradition thanks to Institution such as the Lyrical Experimental Theatre, the Centre about Early Moddle Ages and especially the Festival of the Two Worlds, started in 1958 by the composer Giancarlo Menotti. The town, perched on a green hill, is unique thanks to the beauty of its monuments and the breathtaking surrounding landscape. The urban stratification of its historical centre, among the largest in Europe, dates back from the Pre-Roman period (XI-X century B:C:) to the 19th century. The main remains, such as the Roman Theatre, Thermal Baths, Amphitheatre, Roman Temple and Roman Arches, show how important was Spoletium centre during the Roman Times. In the Middle Ages it was the prestigious Capital of the Longobard Duchy, a huge powerful territory in central Italy. Splendid examples of this period are the Fortress, some tall towers, amazing mosaics, beautiful Romanesque churches and convents, the magnificent Bridge and the San Salvatore church, one of the most ancient Christian churches in the world, wich has been declared UNESCO World Heritage.

      Everything you could ask for!

Left on 05/18/2013 for a stay in February 2011

We've had occasion to stay at two of Luana's sites - the large apartment once called Il Priore and the smaller La Dama. Both were exactly as advertised and of top quality - comfortable, pleasantly decorated, well equipped and meticulously clean. Top this off with Luanna's enthusiastic assistance and you have a completely winning combination.

      “Great location and super host!”

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in January 2012

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Luana and her husband for being such great hosts and for sharing the magic of Spoleto. We rented the "Il Priore" apartment for nearly 3 months and Luana helped us with all our questions, from obtaining internet access to what to see and do in her beautiful town. She supplied us with great tips and information on the Umbrian region, couldn't do enough for us and made our stay super easy.

I would higly recommend her business to all travellers to Umbria, especially Spoleto, which will always be in our hearts.

      Umbrian gem

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in June 2012

As our train trundled through the fabulous Umbrian countryside, we knew that we were in for a treat. Having decided that an apartment would give us the freedom to live the Italian life for two weeks, Spoleto proved to be the ideal choice and Luana's apartments, right in the centre of this beautiful town, were perfect. It was good to know that Luana was on hand to help and advise, if needed. We loved being so close to all the wonderful food shops and were able to try all the local delicacies. Our apartment was superbly designed for two and a great spot for people watching! Spoleto is an ideal centre with many fascinating walks around the town and surrounding countryside. Cheap train and bus tickets meant that we could explore further with towns like Todi and assisi close by. Two weeks were just not long enough!

      unique experience in Umbria

Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013

As a family with 3 kids we looked for a big apartment - Il Principe suited our best. The flat is stylish and had everything needed- and it has a personal touch, we really felt at home there. What is more, it is conveniently located- there are some good food shops nearby and big supermarkets 10 minutes on foot. To explore Umbria the best way for us is the travel by train- and the station is also easily reachable on foot ( 15 minutes). The best thing about Spoleto is its quiet medieval atmosphere and nature, - and you have have it without crowds - we took long walks around the town and the forests. You can eat perfectly practically everywhere- not only in top-rated restaurants- and bring home lots of delicacies. But the real gem is Luana herself- so helpful and attentive- she offered advice and help in everything we needed. Hope to return definitely.

Friendly people and good food in a slow city

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We spent 10 days strolling around in the small cosy town with narrow streets and a lot of steps. We walked on well-marked tour-routes in the woods around Spoleto.
We visited other villages on hill-tops well reachable by train and bus, and tasted special products from the district, such as truffle, cheese, ham, salami and olive oil and local wine.
The friendly hostess gave a lot of valuable information, and picked us up at the station when we arrived.

The apartment and Spoleto are quite perfect!

Left on 03/12/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Situated in the middle of the old part of Spoleto, the apartment is proximate to all the sites of this marvelously beautiful and interesting town. The spaciousness of the apartment and its architectural sophistication make it the perfect venue. Central but quiet, it makes one a part of the town and yet assures tranquility. While there's every reason to spend extended periods of time searching the byways of the town - the walks are wonderful - there are the surrounding mountains and woods which, for the walker, are a delight. The quality of the food is extremely high with a wide range of places varying from the formal sites to the most delightful local/family spots.

A word must be said for our agent, Luana Zangarelli, who is thoughtful, exuberant, genial and extremely competent.

Excellent time in this lovely apartment

Left on 12/10/2010 for a stay in September 2010

I stayed in one of Luana's apartments on my holiday in September for two weeks, and I could not have enjoyed it more! The apartment itself was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and newly updated. It was very well-located in the historic centre so I could walk everywhere. It is also easy access to the train station for daytrips to other Umbrian cities. Luana was nice enough to pick me up from the train station and showed me other apartments that I had the choice of, all looked similarly great. The welcome kit was so thoughtful, as were all her tips on where to get the best food (the Bio caf? she recommended is sooo good, sadly I only ate there once on my last day). Aside from a comfortable and functional apartment, Luana and her husband were so warm and friendly and really wanted to make sure I had a great experience in their town. They gave me great tips on hikes and even took me on one of the most memorable I have ever been in the Pian Grande. Spoleto is such a charming little city and I hope to come back in the spring someday to experience the wildflowers in the Pian Grande and stay in one of these apartments again! You will not regret staying here and will not want to leave!

We stayed in the apartment "la dama" for three weeks while preparing for our wedding in Spoleto. It was perfect for our needs: comfortable, private and economical and ensuring that we were immersed in the culture and lifestyle of Spoleto. Luca and Luana (the owners) were extremely hospitable and helpful. We repeatedly picked their brains for local knowledge about restaurants, trekking walks, day tours and more. Nothing ever seemed to much and they tailored their replies to our personalities and interests. The apartment was a welcome retreat after busy days with all necessary conviences. We grew quite attached to Spoleto and la dama!
