600' Lakefront, Sat TV, Year Round, Wifi, Pets OK

A private 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, cottage with over 600 feet of lake front that allows pets.

We currently have two cottages, sharing 57 acres. The second cottage, named Eagle View Cottage, is over 300 feet away, about a city block, we left trees in between the cottages so that they are private from each other.

The cottage is located about 200 feet back from the water with a screening of trees towards the water. You have a great view from some of the seating areas closer to the water but a limited water view from the cottage. There is a volley ball net (during warming weather), horse shoe pits, a sand box and about a half an acre... of lawn at this cottage. There is a dock, with a boat lift for aluminum fishing boats. There is also a buoy for tying up larger or a 2nd boat. The cottage also comes with a canoe, included in the rental cost or you can rent 1 or 2 kayaks. Many people, very young to elderly, have enjoyed swimming off the dock.

From the front walkway, it is a half step up to get in to the main entrance hallway. Turn left to the master bedroom, or right to the kitchen.

MASTER BEDROOM

You have a queen size bed, large closet, drawers, reclining chairs, windows out toward the lake.

MASTER BATHROOM ensuite

A 4 piece bath with a separate large soaker tub, separate shower, toilet, sink. We have at least one blow dryer in this cottage.

KITCHEN

The kitchen has a large fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave and a decent amount of dishes, cutlery, etc., for a rental cottage. There is a table with 6 chairs here.

At the back of the kitchen is a door to the utility room. At the front is a window.

UTILITY ROOM

At the back of the cottage is a full size stackable, washer, and dryer. A second ‘beer fridge’, laundry tub and the property well pump and water purification system. Out the left side is another room about 8’ wide by 20 feet long that isn’t heated. This is a storage room and can also act as a mud room. There are various kids toys, kept in here. Leaving at the far end of this room you come out at the lighted BBQ shed and near the fire pit area.

FAMILY ROOM

Immediately beside the kitchen (to the right of the main entrance) is the family room. It has a 26" TV, Satellite Package which includes movie and sports channels. There is an XBox system. A couch, and older sofa bed and coffee table. There is a book shelf with books, DVDs. There is also a phone here. There are windows to the back and front. There is a 2nd door leading out to the front of the cottage. This door is seldom used.

At the back of the family room is a hall which leads to the 2nd and 3rd Bedrooms and the 2nd Bathroom.

2nd BEDROOM

This is the smallest bedroom and contains a double bed, closet and night table. There isn’t much extra room in here. There is a window looking out towards the front of the cottage.

3rd BEDROOM

The Master and 3rd Bedroom are both fair size rooms and work great for 2 separate couples to each have nice bedrooms and be at opposite ends of the cottage. This room has a queen size bed. A bookshelf with games/puzzles. There is a closet and a large window looking towards the west.

Being winterized, the cottage is a great place all year around. Summer is typical lake side cottage living.

Fall/Autumn is great to take in the change of leaves. This event tends to happen around the last week of September to early October but changes based on when the cooler weather arrives. There are a number of nature activities at this time of year (leaves, salmon run, bird migration).

In the winter take advantage of snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing. We will provide a hut for ice fishing but otherwise you need to bring your own equipment for all of the various winter sporting activities. Enjoy the various animal tracks after a fresh snowfall (from mice to rabbits and deer and others there are usually a number of tracks in the snow).

Spring brings the bird migration to the island. It is awesome to see the lake edges where large populations of water fowl spend time during the migration. You’ll likely see a lot of birds you don’t see further south. Rainbow trout swim upstream to spawn at this time.Read more

Additional Location Information

Located on the south side of Patterson’s Bay which is in the south west ‘corner’ of Lake Kagawong. For those who know the area it is located between Mac’s Camp and Fred's Camp. The town of Kagawong is at the exact opposite end of the lake about a 30 minute drive away. Located between Gore Bay (about 15 minutes away) and Mindemoya (about 20 minutes away). The cottage is located close to the centre of the island.

Manitoulin Island is located north of Tobermory about 6 hours north of Toronto. You can take a ferry from mid May to mid-October or the bridge at the north end of the island near Espanola/Sudbury.

We reserve the right to limit booking nights or change rates prior to your booking.

13% HST will be added to all stays less than 4 weeks in length. Prices are subject to change without notice (once you’ve booked though your price is locked in. The tax may change, even after a confirmed deposit, up until your stay). For deposit and cancellation information please see the bottom of this page.

*During deer season (3rd week of November) the price is $900.00 minimum for 1 or 2 people and an additional $450.00/person over 2 people with 6 people max.

Note: currently during the deer bow hunt season we will rent out at mid season rates if you wish permission to hunt the property.

Notes: Fees for last minute extras, such as bringing pets, or over 6 people (and the extra charges have not been paid up front) can be paid by credit card when booking. If you arrive with more than 6 people, or or pets not paid for when you booked you may pay by credit card, or in cash upon arrival.

Last minute rates will be considered based on the length of your stay. Great for a romantic weekend for those who live in the Sudbury, Espanola area.

For the summer the minimum rental length is one week.

For Christmas/New Years the minimum rental length is 5 nights.

Manitoulin Island Cottage Rental Availability:

Saturday to Saturday rentals during High Season (see above schedule for High Season dates, generally mid June to long weekend in Sept):

Check in, Check out times: Check out by 9:00 AM, check in not before 3:00 PM and preferably before 7:00 PM, or make special arrangements. High Season is rented Saturday to Saturday, Off Season rentals can start on any day of the week and check in and out times are more flexible.

Pets: Please ask. White Pine Vista – pets are allowed in the main family room area, kitchen, hallway, laundry area and possibly the master bedroom. We would ask that pets still not go in any room that has carpeting. If you are allergic to certain animals and are concerned about allergies we may no longer have a cottage for you. We will continue to buy non-allergenic materials for bedding, and building materials when we can. We charge $50.00 extra/pet/week. This is due to the fact that there is more likely to be scratches, wear and tear and higher cleaning fees with pets. We also ask that the pets stay off of the furniture/beds. We also reserve the right to charge for any damage done by a pet.


CANCELLATION POLICY

Of course we hope you don’t have to change your vacation plans. However, please take note of the following in case changes are unavoidable.

Once booked there are no refunds. Once you reserve we block off these dates for you and no one else is able to book.

We HIGHLY recommend that you purchase some type of vacation insurance, which includes accommodation costs. Then if you must cancel your trip the insurance may (usually for major medical problems, and other critical situations) cover the cancellation costs. MyTripInsurance is an example of a possible trip insurance plan; however, you would need to verify with the insurance company if this type of plan would meet your needs

  I am thinking that this will be the third winter escape we've had to Manitoulin/Spring Bay/Lake Kagawong. But it's the first where winter was actually in full swing.It's also the first time we rented both cottages as we had family and friends. Comfortable, clean and very friendly are the best ways to describe. Fully equiped with lots of parking. X-country ski from your door or take the skates down to the lake. We took sleds and toured the island as well as did some ice fishing. Spring Bay (9km) has a very well equiped general store with an Lcbo/Beer Store outlet, gas and Post Office. We were able to enjoy camp fires on three of the evenings as they were cold and crisp.
  That's about it. John and Rolanda ( the cottage keepers) live 3 doors away and are very helpful. This has become and will continue to be tradition. Thanks from the Walkers
