Lilac Cottage is a charming Maine cottage nestled behind a lilac hedge on a dead end road that lies just a few minutes walk to the beautiful Maine coast. Lilac Cottage has a large guest suite with private entrance. Discovering nearby walking trails and hidden beaches will enhance your enjoyment of the area. Lobster pounds and art galleries are scattered throughout the peninsula. A short drive up the peninsula will take you to the restaurants, galleries, and shops of Rockland. From Rt.1 Thomaston, take 131 S from the General Knox Mansion House to Rt. 73 (approximately 6-7 miles). Turn left on Rt.73 for one mile to Clark Island Road. Watch for signs to OUTWARD BOUND. Turn right on Clark Island Rd. for 6/10 of a mile to Lilac Cottage on your right.

Our accommodations at Lilac Cottage were comfortable, charming and beautifully decorated. Our hosts, Harriet and Peter were gracious and welcomed us into their home. They were also very helpful in suggesting nearby restaurants. In the morning, we were served an organic and homemade breakfast in the outdoor garden, surrounded by gardens and wildflowers. We are sooo looking forward to our next visit.

Exceptional place. Very homey, private. The breakfast was presentation was outstanding, tastefful and filling. Very comfortabel bed- but that is subjective. Nice, quiet setting. Rockland (North) and Port Clyde (South) are each about 20 minutes away. The B&B; is just out of the way enough to avoid the "summer crowds!" and central to many mid-coast amenities.

My wife and I stayed here on recommendation from some friends of ours. The room was large, very clean and as my wife said "very charming". We opted for the B&B plan and were pleasantly surprised with a first rate breakfast.We had it delivered to the door which allowed us to have a leisurely morning. Make sure to ask for the blueberry muffins, with local berries, they were excellent. You cant beat the location for this price. The beach is a walk away and if you have Kayaks bring them as this is perfect place to set out from. Over all it was an excellent stay and we would recommend it .
