A Taste of Village Life
If it's a sociable and active weekend you're after, or on the other end of the scale - looking for 'a license to chill' - Stanford is for you! An enterprising country village on 25 km from Hermanus, carves an interesting niche in the leisure market. Life here is slower than in the city, so it’s no surprise that many ex-urbanites now call this village with a river at its heart, home.
Choosing a favourite time to visit Stanford is like picking a treat from your grandma’s pantry—each season seems better than the next. Stanford caters for sport enthusiasts and eco-adventurers alike, with its diverse activities on offer: tackle a 4x4 trail, dust off the old golf clubs, ride a horse, go on a sunset cruise, learn to fly fish, spot the whales or dare to go shark cage diving. For those who wish to spend their holiday at a more leisurely pace, enjoy our fragrant wines, sit back in our country gardens with a good book or relax on a river cruise.
Award-winning restaurants and wine estates are plentiful. All hungry and thirsty travellers are welcome. We cater for everyone’s budget – from pub ’n grills to luxurious restaurants and romantic cafés with specialised cuisine. Come Say ‘I do’ in Stanford. One of the landmarks is the Anglican Church and the Dutch Reformed Church on the village green. Their idyllic settings make it a popular venue for country weddings. The village and its people elicit a warmth and ambience that is hard to find anywhere else. So get away from the mad rush of your life and pay us a visit.
Wedged between two evocative water worlds - the picturesque Kleinerivier, and the moody Atlantic, this quaint Victorian Cape village in the Overberg life is lived to the rhythmic ebb and flow of tides. Stanford is on the coastal plain separating the mountains and the sea, about 90 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. Health spas and healing, whale-watching and winemaking, hiking and horse-riding, birding and bicycles - all can be enjoyed in this scenic area.
Floating slowly down the river on a summer's afternoon, you'll realise why the languishing country bug is so catching, that many weekend visitors to this small village, return time and time again.

Cape Town Central, South AfricaVery Dissapointing

Unfortunately a very unsatisfactory experience. Accommodation was far from clean. Response from owner not great. However the position of the house is lovely and close to the river

I am very disappointed by this review. One of the three ovens had not been cleaned; my sincere apologies.
There were cobwebs under one of the cane chairs on the verandah.
The rest of the residence was in good order. The oven has been cleaned and the cobwebs banished. -

Cape TownBeautiful house, amazing setting, super-chilled

Wonderful house right on the river with rolling lawn and views of the mountains and easy walk into the centre of town with its antique shops and cafes. Outside dining on the balcony that opens onto the garden and a fantastic pool that really made the stay.
Walks along the riverside, canoeing (don't let the guys who rent out the canoes rent you the one that has to be towed - although crashing into the reeds repeatedly was hilarious).
The owner, Michael, gave us great recommendations on places to go and where to eat, including Coffee on the Rocks in De Kelders, and The Stanford Table.
We had one day of no electricity due to the mountain fire that broke out between Hermanus and Stanford, but there were plenty of candles in the house, and it was a good excuse to barbeque.
Serene and lovely. We'd definitely go again. -

JohannesburgPeace and quiet in a beautiful home from home
Left on 12/28/2012 for a stay in December 2012
When we walked in at our holiday destination, I having booked online, the family congratulated me. Corgi Park is a most beautiful home; built and decorated with care and a most tasteful attention to detail - something one keeps noticing as you recline on yet another well appointed couch or day-bed, indoors or on the verandah overlooking the rolling lawn and serene river at its bottom end. Set in Standford with its collection of good antique shops and none of the throng of the nearby metropolis of Hermanus, this is civilised living. It's a very special place one definitely wants to get back to.

Cape TownRelaxed, fun filled time!
Left on 12/21/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Corgi Park was really a blissful experience. The house was very convenient because it has 3 en=suite bathrooms which helped as we were 3 couples thus each couple had it's own bathroom. The verandah(one of two) overlooking the river was lovely and big with an amazing view accross the river to trees and the mountains. We had breakfast there and were entertained by all the different birds.
The kitchen is fully equipped and lack for nothing, while the spacious lounge was also a get together area with a fire place when the evenings were cool outside.
The second verandah overlooks the swimmingpool which we enjoyed tremendously to cool of during the hot days and had lunches there and lazy suntanning afternoons.
The house is also conveniently in walking distance to the centre of town by way of the river walkway or the normal road.
We will defnitely go back to Gorgi Cottage. -

We stayed at Corgi Park for 2 nights. What a special place! The house is beautiful and offers comfortable accommodation in 3 bedrooms and a stunning big veranda where you can enjoy the lovely garden and views of the river. It's perfectly situated in a quiet part of town with direct access to the Kleine River. It is private, quiet and peaceful and it offers everything you could possibly need for self catering. Can definitely recommend this accommodation.
