We had a wonderful time at Robin's place at Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, owned by Robin and her husband who lives in the apartment above. They are very friendly, and they will give you all the help and advise you need. The house was clean and cosy. We only stayed at the house for breakfast and to go a sleep because we wanted to see much from New York. It was very nice that we only had to walk for a few minutes to go to the free Ferry to Manhantan which runs for 24 hours a day and leads us among Statue of Liberty every day! The most impressive attraction we visited was "Ground Zero" , 9-11 memorial with the Freedom Tower (by the time we were there) got the highest point of 1772 ft. You can still feel the impact of what happened there almost 12 years ago. Thank you all and we sure come back once again!

It might be a cliche but in this case it is very accurate.
We were made to feel right at home from before our stay even started. The accommodation itself is charming, character filled, and comfortable. Staying over the Christmas/New Year period, the central heating and thick quilts were most welcome.
All the requirements for a comfortable stay were provided, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge room, dining room, everything you could need. We also had free wi-fi, cable TV (if you have the time to watch) and wood-fire.
Staten Island is a short (free) ferry ride from Manhattan. If you're looking for a break from the hustle and bustle it is ideal. The distance can be a bit of a draw-back as it does mean an extra hour of travel per day, but the ferry ride can itself be a significant part of the fun. For example I used the time to write our blog (www.sleepinginnewyork.blogspot.com which has some photos of the apartment), if you're interested.
Our host, Robin, was always very helpful and keen to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. A quite extensive collection of brochures and information was a nice touch.
One watch out would be that access to the accommodation requires climbing a few fairly steep steps and would not suit frail people or those relying on walking frames or wheel chairs.
We certainly would not hesitate to recommend this as a place to stay, especially for family groups. -

Southport UKElegant, comfortable well equipped home from home
Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Stayed the last week in Sept 2012, Robins nest was spacious and very comfortable. The shower was hot and very powerful, great for reviving sore muscles. The views across the river to Manhatten were picture postcard particularly at night. 10 mins from Staten Island Ferry so after a free 20 min ride past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, New York City was easily accessed via subway. Close to a couple small shops for basic grocery shopping. Try the Beso restaurant in Shcuyler St great food at great prices. Thanks Robin for info about your home , nice to meet you.
