Description from the manager
What can be more appealing than a property set in an open landscape on the edge of the sea, with magnificent panoramic views and perfect tranquility.
Vlamis consists of four adjoining single units and one separate unit of accommodation. The views of the sea and the sky are as far as the eye
can see and at night, the starry lights of Chania are clearly visible across the water.

Additional Location Information
Stavros is well-known for its beautiful sandy beaches and the clean, blue sea. It is actually a small bay and a long sandy beach next to it.
The area of Stavros consists of a scattering of holiday accommodation and some private villas, but generally it remains beautifully quiet. A couple of tavernas are close by and a few more as you head out to Stavros in one direction or Kalathas in the opposite direction.
The beach at Kalathas is sandy and some water sports are also available. One or two small grocery shops are in the area but there are many more shops and restaurants in and around the seaside villages in the peninsular. A car opens up further options to explore this fascinating area of Crete.
The contrasting terrain is almost endless, with vineyards and melon fields, to traditional villages and fishing harbours. At the northern tip and only a four minute drive from your accommodation you will reach Stavros beach area where 'Zorbas' mountain dominates a glorious white sandy beach which is shallow and safe for children. Stavros had been used as the location for the film Zorba the Greek as it represented the archetypal sleepy fishing village. More information about Stavros here in www.chania-vacation.com/crete/

TjømeThe unforgettable sunset, warm hospitality and breathtaking sour
Left on 09/07/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We arrived late at night in Crete with high expectations and we were not let down. Penolope and George our ever so caring hosts, met us late at night at the airport to welcome us and guide us to the villa.
The first in day in the villa we discovered how wonderful the place was. From the clean, warm and refreshing pool to the crystal clear sea right beneath the villa, which the whole family appreciated a lot.
Almost every evening we watch the unbelievable beatiful sunset. The sun sets right in front of the villa. The villa is situated in a relaxing and calm sourroundings and the only sound was the waves hitting the shore.
Penelope and George often visited us either to give us traveling tip, nearby restaurants or to provide us with homegrown vegetables.
Stavros beach which is nearby ( drive 4 min) is wonderful lagune with crystal greenish water. A perfect beach for both adults and kids.
We will highly recommend Vlamis villa because , The wonderful Penelope and George, the spacious and nice villa with the fantastic view and sunset.
The sea that goes on for ever and ever.
The kids tolds when we had to leave that this was the best holiday ever.

SydneyBeautiful, remote, location

We loved our stay in the Vlamis Junior Villa. It is not close to anywhere, and that is part of the charm. Everything was advertised and I agree with the comments of the other reviews. In particular the pool, sunsets, and swimming in the ocean (which is literally 20m from your front door) were the highlights. Even though it was very hot during our stay, this was not a problem and we felt very comfortable there. It was one of the most relaxing locations of our month in Greece.
It can be used as a base for exploring the western half of Crete, but be warned Crete is a big place and you would need change your accommodation to see things in the east as it is too far to drive there and back in a day. But for Samaria Gorge, Balos, Moni Preveli, Amari Valley, Plakias, Chania, Rethymno (insert your own favorite) etc it is absolutely fine. On checkout we needed to drive to Iraklio for an early ferry and that was fine.
George and Penelope we thought to be very nice people and their explanations and maps etc were useful.
We had GPS in our hire car and I think that is essential as the roads in Crete have no logic at all. Perhaps the one improvement could be better directions to the property (once we found it everything was easy).
This was easily the best value for money location of our month away. -

I can simply say that it was a pleasure to stay at Vlamis Villas for two weeks with my wife and kids. Both George and Penelope were very great and responded to all of our needs. I will never forget the sunsets, the great view from the balcony, and the great food at the nearby restaurants. It was a perfect holiday in the sun.

We had the most fantastic holiday at Vlamis apartments!
The secluded, peaceful and beautiful surroundings contributed to a well needed relaxing vacation. The reasonably priced apartment was very clean, well equipped for home cooked meals, with lovely Penelope and her family always available to provide us with care and recommendations about nearby restaurants and attractions.
We found ourself feeling so well at ease and at home that we barely left the place and poolside, other than in order to fill the fridge or laze out at the perfect sandy beach in Kalathas a few minutes drive away. Our two year old daughter was so happy she completely forgot to throw us her occasional terrible-twos tantrum!
In short - don't even think twice - press "Contact Owner" before the place is fully booked!!! -

This was our first trip to Crete, and what an introduction! We stayed in the "Independent" villa for 2 weeks in a very hot august. The accommodation was easily big enough for us (2 adults, 2 children), and it was kept very clean by owners both before and during our stay.
The facilities were good, with a large fridge freezer, and adequate kitchen area.
The kids loved the seawater pool, and it was so nice not to smell of chemicals each time we wanted a swim! A very short walk down to the sea (about 30 meters) and I was in the sea, swimming amongst some stunning fish. (this became a daily ritual!)
A short trip (5 mins) in the car gives you easy access to at least 4 good sandy beaches. Many of these are very sheltered, so are ideal for young kids, and also for those that wish to just lay on their back and float! Even more beaches are available after a 15min drive.
We took a boat trip out of Chania during our stay, and highly recommend this too. We also went to the waterpark, which was a lot of fun, and is well worth spending a full day at.
The owners of the villa were very pleasant indeed, and gave us lots of information on our arrival to enable us to find all the important things, like Tavernas, supermarkets, banks etc. This enabled us to feel right at home from the very start of our stay.
The Villa's are in a very quiet location, and are richer for it.
We would be very happy to go back again. Loved it! -

We had excellent service from the owners both before and during our holiday. The accommodation is well appointed and well maintained with lovely unobstructed views out to sea.
There are tavernas in the area and it is approximately a 20 minute drive to Chania were there are more restaurants and shops. Excellent, safe beaches nearby.
Airport transfers are easy for the independent traveller, would recommend pick of hire car from the airport as a car is essential. Crete is a wonderful island worth exploring.
