This lakefront log-home borders National Forest, has miles of hiking trails starting at your door, and a privately trout stocked 110-acre lake. Enjoy the lake from one of the many paddle crafts that are provided with the cabin rental, walk the shore, or just enjoy the natural beauty of the area from the private dock, hot-tub, or upper deck. The smell of the pines, the stars, and the miles of forest that surround you make for a classic Colorado vacation.

Located on 35-acres around a private lake that is shared by 1...4 other homes, this cabin is only 27 highway miles from the world class resort town of Steamboat Springs. Steamboat provides you with opportunities to enjoy hot springs, fine dining, rodeos, river fishing, grocery stores, golf, bike rentals, balloon rides, music festivals, tubing, rafting, shopping, spas and all of the amenities you expect from a world class resort town. Once you have taken in the sites of Steamboat return to this peaceful lake home and RELAX as the lake turns to glass and the trout start to hit the surface of our privately stocked natural lake.

From June to November this is a wonderful place to start from your doorstep and enjoy walks around the lake, hikes through forest and meadows, canoe rides, bike rides, a family lake swim, or trout fishing. November through April, summer fun becomes winter fun and snow activities begin! We will provide a few sleds and snow-shoes to help you enjoy the powder.

More than a vacation rental, this secluded lakefront log cabin inside of the forest will become a mountain recreation favorite. Biking, boating, swimming, hiking, fishing or relaxing next to the private trout stocked alpine lake during the summer. Backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, or just let the kids play in the snow.

Miles of open hills and meadows to pick your own route from the cabin door, or minutes from well traveled cross country trails on Rabbit Ears pass. A great place to enjoy nature. We will even provide snow shoes, some track skis, and a few other snow toys in the winter; bikes and boats for summer and fall fun!

Book September, our favorite month and watch as the aspen turn gold against a bright blue Colorado Sky, the wildlife prepares for winter, and the sunlight on the lake sparkles. Fall is an excellent time, for fishing, hiking, biking and taking pictures.

Additional Location Information

The property is inside of the Routt & Arapahoe Forests in Northwest Colorado, 5 highway miles from Rabbit Ears pass at 9,000 feet. Baker, Whitely & Bear Peaks serve the backdrop for the 640-acre private residential development that is home for this cabin. Many gold water fisheries are within an hours drive on the Blue, Colorado, Yampa, and Platte Rivers. We are 2 miles off of the Hwy inside of the forest, and about 30 miles from Steamboat Springs, Kremmling, & Walden Colorado; 70 miles to Summit and Winter Park Ski areas.

Airports: Largest nearby airport is Denver (DEN) 170 miles SE from the cabin, Steamboat offers commercial flights at Hayden (HDN) 50 miles away, and both Steamboat & Kremmling have facilities for private jets (30 miles).

Some of our guests find the rate is economical to rent the month and stay for a shorter time period. In an effort to maintain the uniqueness, quality, and privacy of the property we do not pro-rate base rate by the week.

Rates listed are typical starting rates for a single family of 4, but are subject to change without notice. Our rates vary based on specifics of your party and amenities. Ask about winter or multi month discounts.

House sleeps 6, but an additional garage loft suite, suitable for 3 with its own 3/4 bath can be negotiated for larger groups at an additional fee; this additional space is only available as an amenity to the cabin.

The hot tub availability and fees to be discussed at time of rental.

Mid-January through mid-May are typically low season rates - discounts may be applied.

Most well behaved family dogs are allowed, but please talk to us about your pet before you book your reservation.

Cleaning fees are optional - discuss houskeeping needs with the Owner when you book your reservation.

  I stayed at this cabin with a friend while traveling in the area. It's beautifully appointed, right on one of Colorado's few natural lakes, and has an up-to-date kitchen (no scary old appliances). I was in the area again a month ago, and while the trees in the area are being ravaged by pine beetles, there is still quite a bit of biodiversity and a good number of healthy trees remain. It's nice to take a kayak out on the water and there are great wildflower meadows to walk nearby. A pleasant, quiet mountain hideaway with beautiful sunsets. Winter visitors note: only disadvantage is that driving in and out to get to Steamboat can be a little complicated in the winter. Recommend 4WD in wintertime.
