      Picturesque - comfortable

Left on 05/21/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Plumbago Cottage is the ideal place to stay well visiting in Stellies. Especially if you have children at the University.
The main bedroom was large and sunny with a comfortable four poster bed.
The Sauna was used every night and was the highlight in the evening after a long day shopping or sightseeing.
The staff always very friendly and eager to help -
Wifi was a bit of a problem due to the router not having been set up properly.
The fireplace added to the comfortable evenings - only problem was that if one didnt leave a door slightly ajar, the room would fill up with smoke!
All and all a perfect place to stay even though it was on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.
We would prefer Plumbago Cottage over another self catering flat in town due to the peacefulness and the it being on the Rozendal Farm.

Don't miss out - this is the place to stay... Make sure you eat breakfast and dinner at the auberge and enjoy every minute there. It was perfect for our family (we have three small children). Very low key, relaxed, and free for roaming around. Wonderful!

      A little piece of heaven

Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Being a young family, getaways sometimes proofs difficult with 3 highly energetic young children. Plumbago Cottages was perfect for us! Nestled on the foot of the Jonkershoek Valley we loved the accessibility to outdoor activities for both us and the kids in the surrounding areas. We also loved the restaurant auberge Rozendal, situated on the farm for heartwarming meals. With the wine farms on your doorstep and the beach a mere 20min drive away, this is the perfect getaway for families. We loved it!!!

Cosy, warm and beautiful - what a place

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This is no standard self-catering cottage! The two nights we spent at Plumbago were super.

The location is great as it is just on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, which makes it convenient. Yet the layout of the cottage makes the mountain and views seem like you are far away from everything. The two horses and the pig on the neighbouring paddock are really great too.

There is a nice gas stove and an oven with a well kitted out kitchen (although two of stove's burners weren't working). But there was someone there to sort it out quickly.

The best for last: As it was winter we were worried that like most places it would be cold. Well, between the fireplaces, underfloor heating and the sauna were enjoying the storm outside.

The photos on the website are also no exaggeration; that is what you get! The attention to detail is great. This is a really great place and we would recommend it without a doubt.

      beautiful, peaceful romantic getaway!

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had an awesome time. The scenery, the nature, and the fresh air we breathed were jus so out of this world. We chilled the whole weekend, my hubby and I bonded even more. Service is great, hosts are very friendly and professional. Will definately be back, and will most definately recommend to friends and family.

The views from our cottage are mangificent.

Luxury in the country, but close to Stellenbosch

Left on 04/29/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My family arrived at Plumbago Cottage on a cold, rainy day, but were immediately comforted by Nathalie's warm welcome, a fireplace full of wood, and a spacious sauna. The modern cottage is set in a beautiful setting with horses in the pasture, surrounded by mountains, and, even the visiting african eagle owl at dusk. The kitchen is well equipped, and the highlight was being able to cook with the amazing award winning vinegars Nathalie creates through Rozendal Vinegars. Plumbago cottage is an 5-minute car ride to the center of busy Stellenbosch, yet provides lovely solitude and privacy after a day of touring vineyards and negotiating traffic. It was perfect.

Left on 02/22/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Service received via email was excellent. All arrangements were made via email, quick and easy. Nathalie always replied and even did special requests for me. The cottage is wonderful, we had everything we needed. The sauna was fantastic! The location of the cottage was great a it is not in town but just outside, also situated perfectly between Franschoek and Cape Town
We loved the view, and peacefullness.

Wir hatten wunderschöne Ferien auf der Rozendal Farm!

Left on 02/09/2012 for a stay in January 2012

The most "Zen" place in the Stellenbosch area.

Left on 02/01/2012 for a stay in January 2012

Me and my girlfriend Kattis, and her kids alex & Emma, had the kind opportunity to stay at the ammann family's fabulous cottage on the foot of Jonkershoek. The modern, cute house/cottage has everything you need, the surroundings are actually a nature reserve, and still conveniently located at the edge of wonderful Stellenbosch town. Waking up in the morning with the horses and cows gracing in the mountain backdrop, only a few meters away from your favorite morning coffee spot on the patio - is nothing short of magic. We had a great time seeing Lyne, Alexander and Nathalie again. Initially customers through the wine and vinegar products, now more friends and "family" because of their, in many respect similar ideas on sustainability in both living and agriculture.
As we wish the ammann family to see us again in Sweden - we surely would like a yearly doze of their Jonkershoek magic. We will make a plan - perhaps You should too.

A lovely cottage, surrounded by lush meadows and dramatic mountains. You feel instantly at home. The living room decorated with pieces of art and craft, and a romantic bed room that will entrap you to have coffee in bed, watching the horses and cows graze.
A perfect romantic hide away, nothing missing to make you feel comfortable.

      Highly recommended!

      Most incredibly relaxing weekend away

Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We had the sublime pleasure of staying at Plumbago cottage for a weekend. Everything about it is so incredibley wonderful, from fluttering our eyes open to see the mountains gazing down at you and spending the morning reading in bed with a sunfilled room, to dining on fresh strawberries next to the fire for breakfast followed by a sauna to start the day.

The cottage is perfectly and privately situated with incredible views of the Stellenbosch mountains. Its very close to the local restaurants and amenities, so if you can tear yourself away from paradise then you could perhaps venture into the village nearby. The cottage has its own private sauna helping to achieve the ultimate in weekend relaxation.
Our hostess Natalie, was fantastic and paid careful attention to detail and all our needs and left us some of her world reknowned 12 year old red wine vinegar as a welcome gift.
Everything about Plumbago was fantastic and it was everything I had hoped to have in a relaxing weekend away from the city.
I would recommend this for honeymooners, small, young families, city hipsters needing a break and even single travellers looking for some quiet time.
I cant wait to go back!
