We have rented from Stowe country Homes many times in the past and have rented Bear Hollow several times. Stowe Country Homes does an excellent job of making sure that the property is immaculate and functional. They understand customer satisfaction.

From beginning to end, Stowe Country Homes was helpful & hospitable. The house is phenomenal in every way possible. We don't have a single complaint about the property. It's amazing & I can't imagine anyone not loving it. Stay here & the rest will fall into place!

We were 3 sets of parents with 7 adult kids (18-26). Sleeping arrangements were easy: parents had private rooms (2 w/ private bath), 2 girls had a private room (double bed and shared a bath with 3rd set of parents), 4 boys were happy in the bunk room and we were happy they had their own space and bath that no one else used or saw. One girl had to sleep on a pull out couch in the downstairs living room, but said it was comfy! The house was well stocked, we had a party one night with 25 people and there was plenty of space,cooking/serving utensils, we did use paper plates and napkins. The house has lots of great hang space, there was lots of card playing and social games. The kitchen worked great - multiple cooks could work simultaneously. The place was clean, efficient and easy to manage. We all sat on the couch and watched football, we had great dinners at the dining room table, no one was one top of eachother or fighting for space, the pool table was a huge hit. All in all this was the perfect choice for our group and dynamics, and received high grades functionally.
We also lucked out in that it snowed about 2 feet while were there! Best Christmas Skiing I have had in New England. Love Stowe and SCH does a really good job, everything went very smoothly for us. We also got 15% discount on tickets through SCH.
We loved our time there, thought it was fairly priced and def do again. Here are some observations that may help you know what to expect: It felt like a fairly new construction that was built to rent, not homey. I did not notice wear and tear, bathrooms looked new and clean, maybe a little sparse. You can see in the pics what the decor is like, this is not your vermont country home! It is more functional than glamorous. Layout of kitchen was not ideal but worked. Lots of up and down, one important set of stairs is spiral which could be hard for some. The mountain road gets backed up too, and can take some time get to get to the slopes.

It is a very nice home for a large or extended family group. Four very nice bedrooms plus a bunk room. Two large living areas on wo different floors. A dining room table easily sitting 10 plus a separate kitch table seating four or five.
The disadvantages are:
(1) There are an awful lot of stairs which cannot be avoided, so not a suitablle rental if someone in your party has a disability.
The pond is not really suitable for young children or older adults.
While the facilities were geneerally good, there were a number of places where there was wwar and tear which had not been fixed.

This home was a perfect ski vacation spot. The location was great for shopping in the village and not far from the slopes.
The home itself was clean, well stocked with blankets and towels and had enough space for an entire family with lots of kids. There was plenty of things to do also with the pool table, ping pong table, hot tub and game selection. We all really enjoyed this home.

Everything worked out very well for our 13th annual ski trip. We had stayed at Bear Hollow before and returned because it suited our needs very well. Unfortunately, the hot tub was broken and that is such a key feature for our stay, it was a bummer. But we still managed to have fun!

The house was large and accommodated a large group of people. Everyone loved the hot tub. The house was clean. The shower curtains liners need to be washed. Also, for the cost of the house, the brand of toliet paper, tissues and paper towels should be of better quality. The towels should also be washed in fabric softner.

Our group stayed at Bear Hollow over Martin Luther King weekend. We enjoyed our stay. It's a well-appointed property with plenty of common area space - more than the pictures would suggest. It seated almost all 18 people comfortably for meals. The huge couch in the common room makes it easy for your whole group to be in the same room at once - no need to split up into different rooms. The hottub was great!
The only downside is the distance to the mountain. It's a solid 20 minutes with no traffic and one day it took us an hour to get back due to traffic on the Mountain Road.
our family (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) rented bear hollow for a week in july, 2010. there were 15 of us and we all left hoping to rent bear hollow again in 2011.
in looking for a place, i had to satisfy all the requirements of my family...and you know how hard that can be with 15! my sister wanted an outdoor hot tub; my husband wanted a jacuzzi; my mother wanted a spacious kitchen; my son wanted a game room; my daughter wanted to swim; my uncle and aunt wanted it to be driving distance from nyc; my cousins wanted to be able to enjoy the outdoors; and i just wanted there to be enough space for all of us to not to get on each others' nerves. we were all satisfied!
what made the experience great was the attention by the folks from stowe country homes. we were greeted by a bottle of wine and fudge and they were a phone call away anytime we had a concern, they responded immediately. the jacuzzi was leaking and the plumber arrived promptly, we ran out of garbage bags and dishwashing liquid, and they were delivered right away. the only issue we had was that one bag of garbage in the kitchen hadn't been emptied, but otherwise the house was spotless. they also supplied all the linens and towels, the detergent for the washer/dryer, the toiletries; it felt like we were in a hotel.
and of course, stowe is gorgeous! surrounded by all that natural beauty and the many opportunities to experience it...hiking, biking, swimming, running, etc.

The House was everything it promised to be. We were 3 families (15 people total). the rooms were lovely and the communal areas (kitchen, dining room and family room) were very condusive to a fun time. The hot tub was great too. It was a 15 minute drive to Stowe ski slope... A beautiful home.
It was a pleasure dealing with the rental company as well.

We stayed here for a ski weekend getaway and it was great. The room set up made it cozy for couples and single people to have private space. Also, because it designed for home entertainment (hot tub, pool table, etc) it was accommodating for those who didn't want to go out after skiing.
The couch is HUGE and made for great conversations, as was the dining table that sat all 8 of us with room to spare.
This is definitely the place for large groups and long stays!

This was the perfect house for a group of friends. Highlights included the
location set back from the road on the top of a small hill, the interior and
exterior amenities and the interior layout.
We really enjoyed cooking in the chef's kitchen and eating in the attached
dining room. We also loved the huge living room, game room and hot tub.
Four separate bedrooms and an additional bunkroom provided everybody
privacy, and a plethora of common spaces gave everyone plenty of room to
enjoy each other's company.

As a native New Englander, I have rented countless ski houses all over Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Bear Hollow is hands-down the nicest place I have ever been fortunate enough to stay. The house and its amenities are all top notch. One of our friends is a professional chef and the gourmet kitchen served us well. The hot tub, game room, and living spaces provided us with an amazing place to relax after the slopes (which are less than 10 minutes away). If you are looking for a beautiful, exceptionally-clean, modern, well-situated place to stay with family or friends, then look no further than Bear Hollow.

I was lucky enough to get a last minute invitation to join a group that had rented Bear Hollow. I didn't have any particular expectation but looked forward to being in Stowe and going skiing. To put it plainly, the house blew my mind! I wanted to move in! The bedrooms and bathrooms were all lovely. The kitchen was amazing and so well equipped with quality glassware, lovely stainless appliances. Nice balance of high quality and felt right at home. The 25 seater couch that extends the entire living room was a luxurious treat. Not to mention the outdoor hot tub!!! If I am ever so lucky to get a chance to stay at Bear Hollow, I would in a heartbeat!! P.S. If you need a cab, call PJ. He's such a great guy, ready to transport large groups and make a fun night out for everyone.

Our trip to Stowe was a last minute decision with a few close friends. We were fortunate enough to stumble upon "Bear Hollow" as a possible accomodations option.
I have to say, the pictures were fabullous and we were all so excited to arrive but once we got there the house was even better than expected. We all had comfy beds to sleep in and enough bathrooms to go around. The kitchen seemed to be the focal point of our trip, as it usally is and we enjoyed a great dinner in the open concept dining room.
I highly recommend "Bear Hollow" to a large group of friends or families... particularly a group of couples given the privacy of the many well-appointed bedrooms and bathrooms.
The highlight for me was the open concept kitchen with top of the line appliances. It even came stocked with all of the standard spices, etc to make cooking easy.
The hot tub in the yard and the jacuzzi in the master bath were welcome ammenities, especially after a hard/cold day of skiing.
Thanks again Bear Hollow... I hope we meet again soon.

Our 22nd year to Stowe and amazing as usual. From the rental process, to the greeting while recieving the keys, to the clean & awesome house... the entire stay was great. We definitely would rent from Stowe COuntry Homes again and rent Bear Hollow again.
Best parts of the house was the kitchen & dining room layout, the jacuzzi, and the kids area downstairs....along with the views.
Couple areas of improvment could be upgrading the TV, doublechecking all the lights work (some switches/bulbs were not), while possibly updating the decor. But again, everything was great, so this is simple 'nice to haves'.
The only real issue was one of the tubs didn't drain.

I was very impressed with the quality of service at Stowe Country Homes and the home itself. When we arrived the pipes in basement were frozen. Immediately someone was dispatched, and spent a good 2-3 hours unfreezing them. He was very friendly, helpful and non intrusive. The house itself was beautiful as was the large property. The kitchen allowed us to cook large family meal.

This house can't be beat! Its a very large beautiful house that is extremely comfortable and with plenty of room for everyone. It has all the amenities you can ask for, a brand new kitchen, pool table, hot tub, lots of bathrooms, and even a fireplace to cozy up to. The house is fully stocked with plenty of towels and sheets. It's a quick and easy shot to the mountain and town.
Also, the process of renting was super easy. The property managers are very quick to respond and helpful. The check in out process was a simple as showing up and they had a packet ready with directions to the house and lots of info of things to do around town. Also, while we were there it snowed a pretty decent amount overnight and before we woke up the long driveway had already been plowed and the stairs shoveled. I highly recommend this house.
