Description from the manager
A detached single storey cottage with a large garden, set back from the road which leads down the hill into the little village of Stromeferry. These are some of the most beautiful scenic surroundings to be found in the Highlands and there are lovely panoramic views from the cottage and the garden to Loch Carron and the hills beyond. Stromeferry has a launching slipway for visitors who wish to bring a boat, and a small railway station. There is no shop, but just 5 miles away is the picturesque resort of Plockton and a wider choice of shops will be found in Kyle of Lochalsh, 9 miles to the south west. The cottage dates from 1927, rooms are brig...Read more

LiverpoolPoor cleanliness - very disappointing; wonderful location
Left on 05/23/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Found the cottage not to be particularly clean; the bedding was a disgrace - pillows poor quality and also badly stained similarly the duvets. The kitchen was not clean had to wash all utensils, dishes ande cutlery before using them. Had to wash and clean out cutlery drawer. The cottage smelled of damp when we arrived and it was also very draughty with old fashioned heating (convector type heaters. On the plus side the location was superb, situated on a hillside with great views of the loch and surrounding countryside. Good point for exploring the surrounding area.

EdinburghExcellent value
Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013
An excellent base for exploring the beautiful area around Kyle, the applecross Peninsular and Torridon, being just off the a890. We chose this cottage because it took pets - we have a small collie - and because our son is getting married at Eilean Donan. Jenni - the key holder could not have been more helpful - even offering to look after our dog if required. There was a burst water main but the first we knew of it was our neighbour further up the hill who appeared with a five litre canister of water to tide us over until it was repaired (it was within hours). Very considerate and a real friendly, country community spirit which was typical of all we meet.
As it was the first week of March we used the open fire (lots of wood and coal included) which initially took some mastering (using distant memories from childhood).
As mentioned elsewhere the open plan front conservatory/dining area - hall - kitchen did make it cold at that time of year but overall the electricity costs were no more than we would have paid back home for the same period of time.
Lots of reading material, Sky TV, videos in the house if required. Would happily go back.
For those who don't know the area it is important if touring to keep your fuel tank topped up as we met a couple who had ran out of fuel. -

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at the cottage and so did my two dogs. Located in an ideal spot for touring we walked miles but only scratched the surface of all the places we could have visited. Sitting in front of the fire at the end of the day made each day perfect. The sun shone and the birds visited our garden every day. It was peaceful and I cannot wait to return.

the magnificent view from one of the windows of this cottage over Loch Carron compensates widely the slightly damp interior of the house. Heating is next to useless because every warmth seems to leave the house right away through walls and/or florr.

The cottage is wonderfully situtated and has fantastic views. We had a lovely welcome by way of a bottle of wine in the fridge. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The cottage does have mice which unfortunately are able to get on top of the kitchen work surface. We didnt mind so much but you do need to be very clean and make sure you put all food stuffs away.

The house is comfortably furnished and has many modern conveniences (but not Sky Sports!).
It is pleasantly and conveniently situated with a lovely garden and view.
The caretaker had prepared thoughtfully for our visit, and we found settling in easy, better than for many holiday properties with complicated details and equipment.
A few things need renewing eg cold tap on bath, but did not detract from our overall good impression. -

staffordso quiet place
Left on 11/21/2010 for a stay in April 2010
we were very happy about our stay in the cottage, how quiet and beautifull place it was, - we were able to explore highlands to diferent directions - isle of sky, plocton, invernes, aplecross from here. The cottage itself was so cosy, comfortable and had a nice oldfashion feel inside, fire place and room overlooking the lake and mountains. Nice big safe garden with wiews full of daffodiles in Easter. Very good dairy farm, small train stop in walking distance.

The cottage was extremely clean and there was a welcome pack waiting for us. The views from the cottage were amazing, overlooking Loch carron. We spent a long time in the porch/dining area as it was so light and had views over to the loch. The cottage was located near the main road to Kyle of Kochalsh so there were no problems getting anywhere. The Skye bridge was twenty minutes away. There was also a woodland walk yards from the cottage where we walked our dog. We did some free fishing in the loch. and caught quite a lot. There were plenty of shops nearby and restuarants. We liked the peaceful location of the cottage best and we least liked the fact that there were no doors shutting off the kitchen and the dining room from the hall, which made these rooms cold. Also, although there were garden seats outside, we could have done with a table also to have our meals outside.
