Magnolia Cottage in Sturminster Newton was originally built in the 19th Century and used as a barn. Magnolia Cottage has been tastefully restored to offer accommodation for groups of up to four people. It’s a picturesque haven for small families or a group of friends. There are two patios from which to enjoy a glass of wine or a spot of al fresco dining in the summertime. There is off-road parking for up to two cars, and the shop and pub are less than two miles away. For the winter months, there is oil-fired central heating throughout, meaning you can enjoy what the region has to offer at any time of year.

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

Magnolia Cottage is very comfortably appointed with large living/dining room and kitchen downstairs and a twin bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is well equipped. There are 2 patios with views of the lovely garden of the main house. The owners are very helpful.
You are deep in the countryside, and there is almost no traffic going by. My first afternoon, I spent several hours on the patio and the only traffic was 2 women on horseback. There are lovely walks in the vicinity. However, it is about a 15 minute drive to the closest stores in Sturminster-Newton, so you can't really pop out if you forget something. To me, this added to the charm.
My only very minor quibble was that the bathroom is on a different level from the bedroom.

The cottage was just lovely - scrupulously clean, comfortable, all the facilities needed for a family. It was so easy to book and everything really did look like it did in the brochure, so no nasty surprises. Quiet but ideally located for touring or just roaming round the village. Everything we needed was close at hand - shops, cafes, restaurants/take aways, places to visit, country walks. We had a friendly welcome and were given directions and offered any help we needed. I was so pleasantly surprised that our sons enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Would definitely go back!

We had e very nice time. The house is large, beautiful, cosy and comfortable, we really liked it. In various places around the house, we could enjoy the sun.The owners are very friendly and hospitable.

We stayed two weeks in this lovely cottage in July 2011. We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was comfortable in a very quiet countryside. We made a lot of trips from here. The owners were very kind and we felt very welcome. The boys slept in the living room on a couch which could be turned into a bed. For them okay, but for adults it could be a problem. For us there was a very nice bedroom on the first floor.

Luckily we had good weather so were able to take advantage of the 2 patio areas and ample garden furniture. Having said that the lounge in particular was extremely well equipped with flat screen TV, DVD, etc and furnished to a very high standard. Comfortable beds, although attic ceiling rather on low side (I am over 6' tall). Absolutely no complaints.

Had a lovely week. Comfortable, clean and owners unobtrusively on hand. Perhaps not so toddler friendly with no washing machine or drying facilities. Kitchen not easy to use. Would best suit a couple mostly eating out.

The Owners were very friendly,and approachable,and even managed to find a Plumber on Xmas eve :)
The House Clean,nicely decorated,very warm,for the winter months,Television,DVD,and even Internet.
Nice quiet location,could describe as remote,but
local Amenities only 3 Miles away.
Plenty of Guides,and suggestions compiled by the Owners should you wish to explore.
Overall,the House was perfect for what I was looking for.
