Great Stay at The Honey Dew Cabin

Left on 08/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We just returned home from our stay at the Honey Dew Cabin, owned by Yancy. We loved the Cabin and all of its accomodations. The house was cozy and comfortable and easy to manuever about. The kitchen had all the accesories needed to cook and feel at home. The kids were so excited when they saw the air hockey game and a hammock. It was nice that each bedroom had atv and dvd/vcr hook up. The owner provides a large collection of dvds that youcan comfortably and cozily watch in the spaceous living room. Yancy, the owner made sure to make our stay a wonderful and rememberable one. sending emails on what to do in Big Bear. We will definitely return to this Cabin.

Left on 08/15/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I have stayed at many cabins up in the big bear area and this one was by far one of the best especially for the price.

This is where me and my now wife went for our honey moon and couldn't be happier. We were greeted by the owner Yancy who was the nicest guy, real salt of the earth, easy to talk to and friendly. He gave us tips and suggestions on places to eat and things to see which was a big help.

The cabin was clean and looked exactly like the pictures. That is not usually the case with other places. It was very cozy and everything you could want from a big Bear cabin. I really liked the room and all the activities already there. The air hockey table was fun for a couple hours, there were over 300 Dvds, plenty of room and the hammock was great.

This place was pretty close to down town and was away from the tourists which I really loved. There is a little market with in walking distance maybe a block and a half away which was awesome for some little things we forgot.

I really couldn't be happier with everything with the way Yancy had information for us on things to do, kept in contact before the stay and made it very clear as to where we could reach him at any time in case anything should come up.

I will be staying here again in the winter for sure and next time will bring some friends.

Recapturing and discovering family and me time!

Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Hd Cabin, a marvelous experience from beginning to end! I've read about others' negative experiences and wanted to ensure that this was a legitimate cabin. Before I booked our stay, I had a few questions about the cabin which I emailed to the owner. He immediately responded gaining my trust. He sent me links about the cabin, the area and its points of interests without my prompting. He was easily accessible.

We were extremely delighted for its charm, coziness, comfortable, and spacious areas. The brick fireplace and high ceiling added to the warmth and welcoming atmosphere. I heard my boys ecstatically exclaim that every room had its own entertainment system. Nostalgia hit me as I saw the air hockey table. I was thrilled about the kitchen - new appliances including a dishwasher and plenty of cookware satisfying my inner chef. The dining table served as the family round table. Huge backyard, wooden deck BBQ grill. My intention to reconnect, re-energize the family worked out fabulously! Hd was the place to do it! Top of the world, heavenly, true bliss. Majestic mountains yet near Downtown and Big Bear Lake. Choice to enjoy activities or chill in serenity.

Owner made effort to greet and meet, but our schedules did not coincide. Last day, some lights went out which the owner promptly handled. "Uncle al” and his wife, the maintenance couple, arrived, to whom we gravitated immediately. Conversed with owner as if friends for years. Kids wanted to stay but were excited we would definitely return in winter and spring. That same evening to my delight, my deposit was already refunded!

My hat off to Yancy. Job well done. Yancy was the perfect host from the moment I decided to rent the cabin thru the end of our stay. He communicated with us and he should a genuine caring of our experience. We came up to look at property to buy and his place excited us even more. He has taken great care to make the place comfortable, well appointed with all the comforts of your own home. The beds were comfy and the place was well maintained. I loved the shower, since I am on the tall side it was nice not to have to slump over to get my hair wet(haha). my fiance and my two doggies loved the secure backyard for them to explore.
When we come back (which we will) we will either stay there or reccomend our family/friends to stay with Yancy.

      Job well done!!!

The cabin was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed or stay and the place had all of the necessary amenities. We just stayed a couple days but could easily have stayed longer. It was just my wife, myself and our dogs and it plenty of room with a fenced in yard for the pups. I would think if you were a family with a few kids it would be the perfect size with one master bedroom and a second bedroom with bunk beds. You could fit your whole family crew. The owner had great communication with us and we plan on staying here again.

We rented this cabin for a girls getaway - with the bunk bed room for a slumber party atmosphere. We loved the open air plan and gorgeous kitchen. The deck was great for morning coffee and evening apertifs. We never heard street or neighborhood noise from inside this gorgeous cabin. A short distance away was a market for last minute purchases, and it's just a short drive to Big Bear - by car or taxi! The owners answered all emails promptly, We look forward to booking again!

Honey Dew was a perfect fit for my family. I really appreciate the owner providing me with a lot of information prior to our arrival. The cabin has a ton of movies to watch, air hockey, PS2, DVD player, WiFi, flat screens, cable TV, fenced yard, and the list goes on. The cabin had an immediate at home feel to it and i felt like it was my house. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you would need to cook your meals along with plenty of cups, plates, silverware, etc. We have two kids (7&9) and there was plenty of room for us and you could easily have 3 or four more people. The cabin is in a great location and within a short 15 min drive to the Discovery Center or alpine Slide. There is also a community park down the street with basketball courts, playground, and a skateboard park. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning soon.

We had a great experience at the Honey Dew Cabin. From the very beginning of dealing with Yancy to the when we had to come home, (so sad) it was super...This cabin is all of 5 stars and then some. Super quiet area, wonderfully comfortable beds, great kitchen to cook in, clean and comfortable throughout. Our 13 year old son enjoyed the air hockey, games and videos. It was nice to be just a short walk to the park to play some basketball. If you come to Big Bear, plan on staying here, you won't regret it. The owners take great pride in their cabin and it makes it feel like your coming home to your own. Thank you for sharing with us and we look forward to making more time available to stay again and again. See you soon...

This cabin is by far the best place to stay in Big Bear. The cabin is very well taken care of and maintained. We loved everything about it, especially the flat screen and movie selection. The owner definitely went above and beyond what was expected. He gave us all the information we needed to have a wonderful time. It was like we were part of his extended family. We were greeted by 16 inches of snow on our arrival, which was perfect for the kids who had never seen snow before. We were all very grateful for the low rate, which made it possible for us to go on the trip in the first place. We will be coming back here every year and probably in the summer as well. Thank you honey dew!

      Family Valentine's Trip

Left on 03/13/2012 for a stay in February 2012

I first spotted the Honey Dew cabin while searching for a cabin for a longer weekend extended family getaway. Unfortunately there were no winter weekends available and I had my heart set on the Honey Dew, so we had to cancel our big family trip. I just couldn't find another cabin that looked this great for this low of a price. Instead, I decided to book a weekday stay for my immediate family: me, my husband and our two small children. I'm glad I did, because this was the best place we could have stayed. Even before we left, Yancy sent emails with helpful information such as the snow report and Big Bear activities that we really appreciated. When we got to the cabin at 2:00 pm on Monday, the handyman was there replacing the showerhead that had been malfunctioning during the previous people's stay. He was very kind and welcoming and helped us settle right in. Yancy also called that evening to see how we were doing and to make sure everything was to our liking. The cabin was wonderful. Perfectly clean, spacious, with tons of comfortable beds. The air hockey table was a huge hit with our 4 year old, and the 1 year old enjoyed pulling down the giant collection of movies and rearranging them for us (we tried to make sure we put them back in order - the numbering system helped!). The kitchen was outfitted with nice cookware and great appliances. The gated yard was wonderful for the kids. The neighborhood was extremely quiet and serene. We've stayed plenty of places in Sugarloaf and in the greater Big Bear area and this was our favorite yet. The whole cabin was just perfect for us and we will be returning as soon as we can. Thank you, Yancy, for sharing your cabin with us and for being such a warm and gracious host!

The cabin was by far the nicest we have ever stayed in up in Sugarloaf. It was very cute and very cozy!! The price was amazing and the owner is very easy to deal with and takes pride in his cabin. My only recommendation is a higher powered vacuum to make the cleaning easier (for the bedrooms)!!! =) For anyone staying there I recommend packing light and using the laundrymat that is right around the corner from the house! Thanks so much for letting us rent the cabin! We will definately be back this summer!

Cleanliness is extremely important to us and our guests, so we added a high-powered vacuum. A laundry mat, with WiFi Internet, is located near the Sugarloaf Fire Station near Maple and Baldwin. We installed a washer and dryer (secured) which is available for any guest(s} that stay at Honey Dew Cabin for 4 days or more. Under both bunk beds there are drawers and additional an storage area for our Guests' personal belongings.

Family getaway in Big Bear for the New Year's Holiday!!Johanna Tristan San Diego, Ca
Review Submitted January 3, 2012 Date of Stay December 30, 2011I stayed in this cabin for 3 nights over the New Year's holiday weekend. It was an awesome experience and easily exceeded my expectations. The cabin was very clean, the appliances were all nearly new and the cabin came with some nice amenities, including a big screen TV, a blue ray player and a very large (and current) collection of movies to choose from. There were also Tv's in the two bedrooms and a Play Station, which was nice to entertain the kids in the evening. The beds were all very comfortable and the linen's provided were nice and the blankets very soft and warm. Also, there's a store less than a block away and a park a few blocks away. The property owner was also very helpful and the process for reserving the cabin, payment and checking-in/out was very easy. The property owner called on the final day of our stay to check-in and make sure everything was going well, which was nice. I mentioned that the cabin was great, but that we had spent some time in the ER with my daughter who got a few stitches as a result of a sledding accident. He was very concerned and even gave my daughter one of the many bear sculptures that adorns the inside of the cabin. Overall this cabin isan excellent value and when we return to Big Bear in the summer we will be staying here again.

My wife and our two sons (ages 5 and 4) stayed for two nights to go skiing. Our friends also stayed with us for the first night. The cabin was easy to find with great driveway parking. Inside was clean and spacious. The air hockey table, play station and impressive DVD collection kept our busy boys well occupied. Extra bedroom could definitely use a brighter light. My wife liked the heat lamp bathroom. I would have liked the option to use without the heat lamp but the two switches turned on only the heat lamp. Flat screen TVs and cable were great. Heater worked like a charm and hot water was quick and plenty. Clean up and departure instructions on the fridge were easy. Our only wish was that it was a bit closer to the resorts but for the price and overall quality of the cabin, the extra drive was well worth it. We hope to visit again soon!

We are so happy that you were able to rent a Sport Utility vehicle after discovering a last minute mechanical issue with your personally owned vehicle. After all your planning for the snow, we are pleased the cabin met your family needs. Thank you for sharing your nice family pictures depicting your kids enjoying the Air Hockey, PlayStation 2 games, the flat screen TVs. With a A+++ and 5-STAR rating, we hope you spread the word to share Honey Dew Cabin with your friends and family for a discounted rate. We look forward to helping you with your next Big Bear Lake vacation stay. Come back soon!

      Great Get away cabin

Left on 03/04/2012 for a stay in October 2011

Great clean remodeled nice cabin in Sugar Loaf. It outside of Big Bear but very close to everything. I liked being closer to the national forest. I brought my kids, dog and a foster dog. The neighborhood was nice and flat to let the kids scooter & walk the dogs. I felt comfortable leaving my fur-children behind in the fenced yard while we explored the towns. Easy to get to, easy to park in the parking spaces. Love the bunk beds, fireplace & kitchen. It felt like home. I would recommend it to anyone!

      Rare find!

Left on 03/03/2012 for a stay in October 2011

I rented this cabin for my mother-in-law and a couple of her friends for a relaxing getaway from the city. She returned from her trip extremely happy with the cabin accomodations. She raved about the cleanliness, spaciousness, and accessibility to nearby shops and restaurants. She was very impressed with the price and no hidden charges approach by the owner, which was very refreshing. Yancey was very helpful and made himself available for any questions we might have. All in all this was a great deal and it will definately be a place we would recommend and are eager to return to ourselves for future visits.

      My Stay

Left on 03/02/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Our stay was fantastic! The honey dew cabin was very clean. It was an enjoyable stay and relaxing. It felt like home not like a rental. A home away from home. The owners were amazing, very kind people and always there when I needed them. The cabin was amazing very up to date, nice furniture, appliances and spacious. The neighborhood people are very welcoming. The cabin is near shops and slopes, just minutes away. My over all experience was so great!!! These words still do not describe how wonderful the cabin and the stay was. You have to just experience it with your family and friends to fully understand how great it is.

Left on 02/27/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We just spent a wonderful winter holiday with our family at the cabin. The cabin is everything other people have written about. It's sparkling clean, loaded with things to do for the kids and overflowing with charm. We highly recommend this charming home and thanks so much to Yancy and his family for allowing us to rent it. We will definitely go back to it again. Don't waste your time looking any further for a different cabin because this one is adorable. We left a snowman in the fenced in backyard for the next geusts to laugh at. Enrolling in a class called snowman 101 to make a better one next time!

Big Value + Big Bear Lake + Excellent Cabin = Honey Dew Cabin

Left on 02/27/2012 for a stay in September 2011

Honey Dew Cabin has a ton of natural sunlight, making it bright and extremely clean! It was nice being close to all the amenities: the lake, zoo, Village, Discovery Center hiking trails, and ski slopes; yet, remote enough to enjoy the peace and tranquility of Sugarloaf with my family. My kids and I took an extended weekend trip to Big Bear to get away from the stresses of our everyday lives in the city. It was perfect for our family: perfect price during this stagnate economy, perfect for my two sons and my teenaged daughter, perfect for family-time. The place was roomier than I had expected. The kids loved the air Hockey table and the selection of games and Dvds. We were able to utilize the fully-stocked kitchen to prepare our meals, which was a huge savings with growing kids. The evening air was refreshing, helping us sleep like babies! The back yard, outdoor deck, hammock, and barbeque grill were phenomenal. We relaxed and rested while enjoying the scenery. The owner was extremely polite, accommodating, friendly, and professional and always answered my concerns quickly. The owner suggested we ride on the Ski Lift Chairs at Snow Summit to experience the beautiful view of Big Bear Lake and all of the surrounding mountains and trees... All Big Bear visitors should try this Snow Summit round-trip Ski Lift Chair ride to the top of the mountain for pure sightseeing and hiking thrills! Wow, it was absolutely breath-taking; don't forget to bring your camera for those memorable family photos. The entire reservation process was delivered as promised. We will definitely be returning to Honey Dew Cabin to enjoy the snow.

I just want to drop a note of thanks for an enjoyable experience at Honey Dew Cabin. This was my first visit to Big Bear and I didn't know what to expect, but when I arrived and stepped into the cabin, I was taken at back on how immaculately clean, well equipped, and cozy it was. I was very impressed by all the accomodations. It exceeded my expectations and made my stay enjoyable. The cabin was perfect for a summer/winter vacation. I will certainly stay here again next time I visit Big Bear.
