Left on 09/28/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Relaxing for me is when you have enough space that you don't feel like your in a box, or that you don,t have to live out of a suitcase. This apartment was so very nice. Full kitchen added bonus for me. Lots of living area, Only fault no TV. Owners Paula and Clive are most helpful, kind and lovely. I truely loved it and would stay many times over.

The apartment is really lovely. Absolutely spic and span, and very homely. There was everything we needed, with a well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, a relaxing sitting room and a lovely terrace to sit out on.
Our hosts were exceptionally helpful. They were always there to answer any questions we had, whilst also allowing us lots of privacy to enjoy the apartment and surrounding area.
There are some great places to visit, with the added attraction of being able to easily choose between mountains lakes or the seaside.
We were extremely happy with our stay, and can't fault it.

A Wonderful Stay in Torre dei Nolfi

Left on 09/03/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay in Clive and Paula's beautiful self-catering accommodation in Torre dei Nolfi, Abruzzo. Clive and Paula were incredibly helpful going so far as to help us collect friends from the train station and arranging car rental for us. They really went beyond the extra mile as hosts.
The house is clean and very comfortable with beautiful views from the balconies. The town of Torre dei Nolfi is very central to Sulmona, Maiella National Park and some lovely hill towns such as Pacentro and Scanno. Sulmona has everything you need, including a large grocery store, pharmacies, banks and a market. It is also not too far from Pescara which has a beautiful beach
We highly recommend this accommodation if you are planning to visit the stunning region of abruzzo.

Left on 08/31/2012 for a stay in July 2012

From the moment we arrived to be welcomed by Paula and Clive to our sad departure, we enjoyed every minute of our stay in abruzzo. The apartment is lovely, extremely clean and very well equipped. Of vital importance, parking is easy and the beds very comfortable.

Paula and Clive are the most helpful and friendly hosts - always there when you need them but never the slightest bit intrusive.

The area is unspoilt and so charming with amiable people everywhere you go - exactly what we were looking for. During our week we went to a Festa, a village picnic, an outdoor movie screening, a late-night concert, beautiful sweet-water lakes, the seaside, countless delightful villages. So many treats we didn't expect. We were certainly never bored.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Sulmona with Paula and Clive and can't wait to return. Very highly recommended!

Trip of a lifetime to abruzzo, Italy

Left on 08/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had a wonderful time during our June 2012 trip to Italy and our experience at the MonteViste apartment made it so much more authentic. The apartment is located in an ancient Italian village called Torre di Nolfi which is just outside of Sulmona. We loved the views and ambience of the village and even found more distant relatives living right there! Clive and Paula are very welcoming and accommodating. They showed us how to get to nearby sights, even partially accompanying us! There were many appreciated extras provided, such as the "welcome breakfast" supplies, maps and guides, translation assistance, and even a rescue by Clive to get the flat tire on our rental car repaired. Paula even bought flowers for us so that we could take them as we visited our relatives in a nearby town. The apartment is well equipped and very clean and comfortable. Our son and daughter-in-law stayed in the lower level, and we all enjoyed the amenities. We loved the balconies with the wonderful views and used the lower deck to eat our delicious Italian lunches. The location of the apartment was excellent, as we were able to see many sights in abruzzo, including the mountains and adriatic Sea, but also travel to Rome and even Naples! We hope to return in the near future so that we can share this delightful apartment with our other son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

Great hospitality from Torre de Nolfi

Left on 08/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We enjoyed our stay in Torre de Nolfi in abruzzo and took the opportunity to visit and see areas in Italy like Cansano, Scanno, Sulmona and Pescara in our rented car. We intended to visit the National Park and witness firsthand how beautiful this region is but maybe next time.

After a busy day, it was nice to come back to Paula and Clive's accommodations for rest and tranquility. Not to mention, the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms were very welcoming and clean. The use of the internet made it extremely handy for our kids as they didn't want to leave the apartment. We parked our vehicle in the piazza and had no worries.
We missed the view from the bedrooms' balcony and the weather was very nice during our visit.
We experienced the Italian lifestyle and culture. Ciao!

Really lovely, comfortable, well-equipped apartment including outside terrace. We liked feeling part of a friendly village and appreciated the beauty of the surrounding countryside and also the proximity of the toen of Sulmona with its beautiful main piazza, many cafes and restaurants and twice weekly market. Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in August 2006

As you probable guessed from the sentence above, my family and I loved our stay at Paula & Clive's apartment in Torre dei Nolfi near Sulmona in abruzzo (Italy). The service we received was fantastic. For example, if we ever needed advice about local beaches, markets or sights they would go out of their way to help us. They were one of the main reasons for our holiday being such a successful one.

The accommodation was fantastic! Set in a quaint Italian village the apartment is traditionally styled, well kept with picturesque views from the bedrooms. The apartment quickly became home.

There is so much that we loved about our stay... The weather was brilliant so we spent many days at the local beach with sand, sea & sun a plenty. Perfect (see image). The locals were very welcoming to us, me and my brother were regularly invited to play football and our lack of Italian vocabulary didn't stop us from having a great time -thankfully, football is a universal language. In addition, the views surrounding the accommodation are amazing and allow for great walks and runs.

Simply, you have to go on holiday to this place! This apartment and its hosts are amazing and you are guaranteed to love your stay there. Hope that helps.

We weren't sure what to expect when booking for mid-November but we were spoiled by lovely sunny days. Hardly a cloud in the sky the whole week.
Clive and Paula went out of their way to make sure we were warm and comfortable, and gave us tips on lots of places to go. We also spent a very memorable afternoon at the olive harvest. Great fun.
The apartment was clean and well equipped. Really suited our needs. The village and surroundings are beautiful and 10-15 mins drive from Sulmona which is a medium sized town.
What we liked best? - friendly atmosphere and beautiful landscape.
What we liked least? - all to do with the time of year we went - many restaurants closed during the week, so had to hunt around a bit.

This cottage was very well appointed and the hosts very obliging. It was a short drive to Sulmona - one of the most fascinating cities we visited in our 3 month holiday. A 20 minute walk into the next town for breakfast was great exercise. The space-saving staircase took a little getting used to - not recommended for bad knees or limited mobility - otherwise a great base for exploring the surrounding villages. The renovation of the downstairs lounge was extremely comfortable and the balcony was a fantastic place to relax with a wine and take in the spectacular mountain views. A car is essential to reach the other villages as Torre dei Nolfi had very limited shopping facilities.

Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Monte Viste is a wonderful base from which to explore the delights of abruzzo. We’ve stayed there twice in the last three years and will certainly be back again soon. The apartment that Clive and Paula have so lovingly and skilfully restored is a delight, with a well-equipped modern kitchen, a spacious living room, two beautiful bedrooms, a secluded deck on which to enjoy dinner and of course wonderful mountain views for which the house is named. The small village of Torre dei Nolfi is a peaceful haven set among farmland, olive groves and vineyards, close to the lovely town of Sulmona, perfectly placed to explore the fantastic national and regional parks nearby, and well within reach of the adriatic coast. This is a land of lovely hill-top villages, castles, abbeys, hermitages, high mountains, deep gorges, alpine meadows, beech woods, great food and wine – where to start and how to stop?! And if you have not read your guide-book Clive will be only too happy to point you in the right direction and to make sure you do not miss out on local events. In a word – faultless!

Left on 08/03/2011 for a stay in July 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Monte Viste while he was searching for family in abruzzo. Our plan was to stay a night or two...but we ended up staying for almost 5.

Clive and Paula were wonderful hosts. Their knowledge of the area and the Italian language was invaluable. The 2 storey apartment (with a fabulously funky set of stairs) was lovely, spotlessly clean and cool during the blazing Italian heat. There was a plethora of information about abbruzo and things to do.

The village, Torre dei Nolfi, and its surrounding area is beautiful. Sulmona was easily accessible by a short car ride.

We highly recommend it. This is a little jewel that we happened across, and will for sure come back to!

From before we arrived Clive couldn't have been more helpful. We arrived late and got lost coming out of the airport but Clive both waited for us and escorted us from the toll road to the property despite it being past midnight.
A welcome pack meant that we were set up for breakfast though!
It was a wonderful surprise to open the shutters in the morning and see the beautiful view.
We had a marvellous time enjoying the stunning scenery in the area, the peace and quiet in the village and the markets and food nearby. The roads into the mountains are slow and twisty but worth it for the dramatic scenery and pretty hilltop villages.
Clive and Paula were friendly and helpful throughout our stay taking us to a local restaurant on our last day which provided us with our best meal of the trip.
The stairs to the cantina and decking downstairs were
a bit tricky if you were carrying your lunch etc down to eat in the sun and would not be suitable for the old or infirm but did not pose any real problem.
Everyone was friendly in the village to us and made us welcome.
I have already booked our return trip!

Amazing beauty & comfort apartment with ideal hosts in abruzzo.

Left on 09/22/2010 for a stay in September 2010

Our hosts, Paula and Clive provided outstanding help in making this trip possible for my sisters and I. They were most patient in offering assistance in the planning and offered help with interpreting as we searched our family roots. Paula and Clive are blessed with a somewhat rare gift of deep hospitality. They offer help in any way they can but allow for your privacy as well. They offered a place that has so much attention to detail with warm decor and beautiful craftsmanship. The beds are very comfortable and having a kitchen, washing machine, and computer available was really wonderful. We appreciated the gift of wine and breakfast staples to begin our visit! The apartment has a most beautiful view of the valley below up to the hills where the beautiful village of Bugnara sits and a panorama of surrounding mountains. We sat on our patio for hours in the morning as the sun rose watching the glory of the day unfold. We were able to take a variety of walks right from our doorstep that explored the valley and river as well as a hillside of a family vineyard overlooking the valley and mountains. This location allowed for many beautiful excursions to small villages of Italy that are most picturesque and offer a glimpse of what old Italy may have been like. In Scanno, some of the women still wear the old traditional dress. Every turn on our drive in the area offered beautiful gems of surprises. At the same time larger Sulmona (famous for the delicious Italian confetti candy) was just a 10 minute drive. It offers a lovely Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as wonderful shopping and restaurants and sidewalk cafe's. We did not have time to explore the beautiful National Parks or visit the adriatic beach side just minutes away but hope to on a return visit. There are not many places available for such a unique experience, and yet I can't imagine one more beautiful, more reasonably priced, or hosts more welcoming.

A relaxing exploration and a taste of real Italy.

Left on 08/19/2010 for a stay in November 2006

The apartment is bright, clean well equipped, with it's own access off the narrow shady cool street where you are free to come and go as you like. The village is small and quiet with post office, and church on the small piazza. The locals are welcoming and our integration into their village events helped us feel part of the community. We were lucky enough to join an annual parade from one church to another as the Virgin Mary was carried from house to house. We were treated to a performance by a traveling theatre company in the piazza one evening, and neighbours and friends of Clive and Paula shared the seasonal gathering of Olives, preserving of home grown tomatoes and crushing of grapes for the export to distant lands. The mountains create a powerful horizon and the landscape is dotted with red tiled farm buildings and olive groves. Nearby the town of Sulmona provided us with a large market, classic architecture and an aquaduct that still provides water for a fountain. Famous for the production of decorative flowers made from sugared almonds, Sulmona has shop after shop of brightly coloured displays. The apartment is well placed for exploration in all directions locally. I look forward to another visit.

We also had a fabulous visit to Montecassino. Nearer to the apartment, Sulmona is a lovely town with lots to see and lovely places to shop and eat - and the weekly market is well worth a visit. Rome is just an hour and 40 minutes away by car and Clive and Paula have lots of information about where to stay and what to see. We had a wonderful holiday and can highly recommend the apartment.
