This is a quiet, newly updated cabin in the very secluded South Fork of Provo Canyon. You’ll see wild turkeys, deer and moose summer and winter, wildflowers abound in summer, and the autumn leaves would impress even Vermonters. And yet you’re only 10 minutes from Sundance, and 15 minutes from Provo.

The cabin has four full bedrooms, 1 king, 1 queen, and two with a queen and twin bunk. Plus there are sleeper sofas in two other rooms. So in all it easily sleeps 16.

The Main Floor has a large, fully furnished kitchen with a 36-inch gas range, dishwasher, marble countertops, a large butcher-block work island with 6 bar stoo...ls; a spacious “great-room” with a wood stove, two sofas, and a large antique 8-person dining table; a separate hearth room with queen sleeper sofa and gas fireplace, a bathroom with a deep Japanese soaking tub and shower; a master bedroom with queen bed and private WC; and a large decks in front and back.

The Upstairs Floor has a large master bedroom with king bed, private balcony, and bathroom with jetted tub; a second bedroom with a queen/twin bunkbed; another bathroom with bathtub/shower; a small office with a desk (and wireless internet) and a fold-out twin recliner; a family room with vaulted ceiling, gas fireplace, and dining area; a fully furnished galley kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. There is also an attic loft with a small bedroom with a twin mattress on the floor, and large play/sleep area (good for sleeping bags and pads), with gabled windows with views of the mountains.

The Basement has a large family room with flat-screen TV with DVD player and sectional sofa; ping-pong and foosball tables; and large library; a walk-out patio and stone steps to the back yard; and a bedroom with a queen bed and a twin bunkbed.

The floors are of antique maple flooring and carpeting; all the baths are finished in travertine; vintage paneling and doors, and antique light fixtures are used throughout. There is an artesian spring and small pond, and terraced lawn in the back yard, and a large front lawn with abundant wildflowers in the front. There is plenty of parking. The county keeps the access road clear all winter, though four-wheel drive is advisable (though not essential) in the winter.

Great for a ski vacation, writer's retreat, family outing, romantic getaway, or unique alternative to staying in a motel in the Valley.

The cabin can be rented as a whole, and can also be divisible into two units, with separate entrances, each unit with two bedrooms and two baths, and a full kitchen in each. Each unit easily sleeps 8. The nightly or weekly rent for either unit is half the listed rate for the whole cabin. South Fork Provo canyon is quiet and secluded -- much quieter and more secluded than the busy and over-built Sundance canyon, but is just 10 minutes over the hill from Sundance. 15 minutes up the canyon road from Provo/Orem, BYU, and shopping. And only about 45 minutes from Park City. And the Heber Creeper historic railway is just 5 minutes away.

Maybe you want to just chill out and enjoy the peace and quiet, but Sundance is a four-season resort with a wide variety of wonderful activities available to the public year round. Besides all the traditional activities such as skiing, biking, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, etc., take a beautiful chair lift ride during the warmer seasons (including evening rides under the full moon), watch a movie or live theater outdoors, attend an art workshop, create your own jewelry, take a guided bird watching hike, or enjoy world-class shopping and dining.

The Provo/Orem area and BYU are just 15 minutes away. It's 55 minutes to Salt Lake City airport. 10 minutes to Sundance ski resort; 45 minutes to Park City, Deer Valley & The Canyons; and 60 minutes or so to Alta, Snow Bird, Brighton and Solitude.

Additional notes from owner

Half of the total nightly charge is due upon booking as a security deposit; the full amount is then due upon check in, with security deposit refunded within two weeks of departure, less damage or loss. Payable by check, cash, Paypal, or money order. The booking deposit is refundable on cancellation up to 30 days prior to check in, less $100 processing fee. After 30 days and before 7 days, half the deposit is refundable, less $100 cancellation fee. No refund of the deposit for cancellation within 7 days.

Half the cabin (each half with two full bedrooms, kitchen, and two baths) can be rented for half the stated nightly charge.
Full week stays pay for only six nights (that is, $1320 for the whole cabin, or $660 for one unit.)

  Close and easy to get to. The cabin is large and very well equipped. Kitchens are great. We love the peacocks and wild turkeys, squirrels, deer, etc. in the front yard.

  Our stay at the cabin was a wonderful Christmastime get together for the whole family. There was plenty of room for all 13 of us and there was plenty to keep us all occupied, both children and adults. What a beautiful setting for a cabin.

  I live in Utah Valley, but stayed here for a week to work on a writing project. It was like heaven on earth, to use a non-writerly cliche! I made great progress on my work -- the quiet and peace clear mountain air surrounded me in inspiration. Not to mention the peacocks and moose! It was great to be able to run down the mountain if I needed to tend to every day business, but what a great sanctuary. So close, but really a world apart. Plus the cabin itself is lovely, comfortable, and high class. Highly recommended.

  An amazing property in a beautiful canyon. I love the fact that house is soundproof and cozy. The high ceilings upstairs and the great layout all make it a beautiful place to escape either alone or with family. I wish I could live there all year round.
