Description from the manager
This lovely home by the Deschutes River has had TLC in the past 2 years of new ownership. Upgraded mattresses in three bedrooms; two kings, a queen, and a single, sleeps 7 comfortably. With new paint in many of the rooms it looks fresh when you walk in. Extensive tile and travertine floors were installed last November in the kitchen, dining & living room, hall, and entry. Guests will feel pampered with a kitchen full of new utensils and dishes, lovely duvets on each bed, and a high efficiency washer and dryer for running that occasional load of needed laundry. Brushed nickel bathroom amenities and new fans enhance the guests' experience....Read more

PortlandVery Comfortable and Convenient
Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We had a family vacation during the Christmas holidays and everyone enjoyed the house. There was plenty of space for the six of us, and great amenities. We were close enough to Mt. Bachelor for skiing and also to Bend for shopping etc. The rental company was very easy to work with, and it was nice that the home had a lock box and we did not have to check in at an office.

Orcutt, CALocation, Location Location!
Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The location of this house is beyond amazing. Sat out on the deck every night watching the river. Literally steps from the bike path so very easy to get around. It was also a great launching or pick up point for rafting down the river. Also, the house sits on a very quiet street, hardly any traffic.
The major down side to this house is that it is in dire need of some updating. The carpets were terrible - very dirty. There was a note left upon our arrival that said the previous guests left late and Bennington was not able to clean the carpets.
Also, I was not a fan of the split level floor plan. My husband and I came with our 18 mo son. Master bedroom was upstairs while all other rooms were downstairs. Made me a little uncomfortable having my son sleep downstairs but we got used to it after a couple of nights.
We did have to have the washing machine serviced the first day we were there. Service was fast and the guy the came to fix it was great.
All in all, we loved the location of this house. So, much so we might stay here again if the house wasn't updated. But I would do an extensive search for other homes first.Response from Bennington Properties - 10/29/2012

Thanks Kristy,
The owners acknowledge that their home was so popular this past summer that there was no time for carpet cleaning between guests. They will be installing a porcelain and travertine floor this November which should greatly update the appearance of the home plus allow for ease of cleaning.
We love the location too. So quiet and peaceful.
Thanks again.

Clean or replace rugs since they are quite stained. Put tv's in all rooms. The rental sleeps six and should have enough bikes to accommodate everyone. The windows needed cleaning. The seating arrangement in the living room couldbe improved, another hascek needed. This was our second visit to this location and the location is great but we will look for another place on the river next year if improvements aren't made.

Thanks Lauren, The owners acknowledge that their home was so popular this past summer that there was no time for carpet cleaning between guests. They will be installing a porcelain and travertine floor this November which should greatly update the appearance of the home plus allow for ease of cleaning. Windows were cleaned -- thanks for that observation.. They are also purchasing new TV's and each bedroom will have it's own TV in the spring of 2013. Owners are required to supply 2 adult bikes. Many guests bring their own. Thanks again. Rick

Hillsboro, OROur stay was wonderful and relaxing.
Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We had a wonderful stay at this home. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, but still conveniently located right on a bike path. The view of the river was very nice. The open living room and kitchen gave us plenty of space to spend time together, while the bedrooms allowed everyone privacy when needed. The home was very clean and comfortable, and all of the amenities were working just as they should. The only thing that could improve this house (for a summer visit) would be air conditioning.

Wonderful Kelly,
We really love this home and the view of the river.
At 4,000 feet elevation, 80% of the homes in Sunriver do not have AC. I admit though, there are times it would be nice.
Thanks

From booking to checkout it was a first class experience. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome card and gift, the lights were on and the home was warmed up. The appointments were lovely and the home was well equipped with everything we needed for an extended weekend getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the location near the Deschutes river with a beautiful 2 mile loop to walk/stroll. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. We look forward to staying again and again at 5Goldfinch Lane or any other Bennington Property.

Kilauea, Kauai, HawaiiThis was a very tranquil setting by the river
Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We loved staying in a peaceful spot by the river. It was very quiet, comfortable home. Lots of walking and biking trails right out front. Deer would be right outside the jacuzzi in the morning.
We would stay there again if we returned. The jets on the spa were very weak but the water was the right temp. Only downside for some people is that it is further out from Sunriver Village and all the shops and dining. We chose this location over the option of being closer to amenities.

Thanks Brad,
That is a great setting and many people like you would rather have the tranquility over being close to all the action.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Summerville, OregonOne of the best locations in Sunriver!
Left on 08/31/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My husband and I took my daughter and her family including our 6 year old grandson for a 4 night stay at Sunriver. I had not been there for some time and wanted a more private home location. I found Goldfinch5 and learned it had recently been added to the vacation rentals. There were no reviews yet, so I was a little hesitant.
The Bennington Staff were great helping me make the decision to give it a try. We were so glad we did. The home is located off of any main roads and has no neighbors behind the home. The Deschutes river is our back view which is where the view windows are located. Just beautiful! We could see the canoes drift by, but it was just far enough away to be soothing. Deer in the mornings and evenings...very quiet.
Hot tub, appliances everything worked great! The staff was excellent! It was our anniversary and the staff had a nice bottle of wine and a 6-pack of beer (for my husband) along with a lovely personal card waiting for us on the dining room table when we arrived.
Having the free passes to both pools was a plus too. There were actually five very nice bikes there and a child's helmet. Ping pong table in the garage. A wonderful layout for our needs. We took the master bed/bath upstairs and our kids took the 2 bedrooms in the lower level. So there was some separation for privacy.
The one thing to know is that this is a "split-level" home so there are stairs (8, I counted) up the porch to the entrance; then you either go up or down. So 8 more stairs up (carpeted) to the living area or 6 stairs down to the lower level where the washer/dryer and other bedrooms located. So if stairs are a problem, you might reconsider. We had no problem at all.
Furniture was very comfortable...good sound system for the TV and CD players. Kitchen had everything. Plenty of dishes, pots/pans, utensils, a great coffee maker, etc.
No central a/C, but plenty of screened windows/ceiling fans for evening comfort. GreatResponse from Bennington Properties - 09/02/2011

Fantastic Connie,
I'm so glad the home worked well for you. We're excited to have it on the program. That view out the back can't be beat.
