TigardFun Week-end and Overall Great experience
Left on 06/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013
The process to book our reservation was very easy and their customer service person was very friendly and pleasant to talk with on the phone. The process was explained thoroughly and the email reminders were helpful. I tend to do a lot of my tasks electronically and they made it extremely easy. When we arrived we found several issues with the house that really needed to be resolved so that we could enjoy our stay (i.e. the largest burner on the stove didn't work and we were trying to cook & feed 5 people, the gas grill was inoperable, etc.). The Bennington maintenance crew (I laugh because the poor guy was working the whole week-end by himself I think) was spectacular and resolved all of our major issues in a very timely manner on a very busy week-end (Memorial Day). We will definitely book again!!

The customer service we received from Bennington Properties was exceptional & very professional-couldn't have asked for more! Website was very helpful and easy to navigate with los of information. Property was very well equipped and clean-it did need updating-we left a note/list to that effect at the house.

Eugene, ORI was not happy with the house
Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in April 2013
The house was much older than I thought. I did not think the pictures clearly reflected the property. There were several things that did not work...blender, shower head downstairs and blinds in livingroom just to name a few. I would not rent this property again. I think the owners either need to fix and update this property or lower the price way down.

Portland, ORFamily Spring Break Fun!
Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My husband, 2 kids and I had a great time during Spring Break! Deer 1 was spacious and comfortable. It is conveniently located close to the village. The kids and I were able to walk to the grocery store, get ice cream and go ice skating. It was an easy walk or bike ride to the Sharc to go swimming and sit in the hot tub. We drove to go skiing at Mt. Bachelor 3 days. It was a wonderful stay and we'll be back!

Eugene ORgood place if preheated
Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in January 2013
great rental, however most of it is heated up by a wall controlled thermostat; we were very cold the first day because the house was close to the ambient temperatures (and water frozen) and it took full 24 h to heat it up. Otherwise it is close to the town center

Left on 11/04/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The home was perfect for our needs. October was a wonderful time to visit if your looking for peace & quiet. Nice to have the hot tub. Made sure to get lost wandering the bike paths thru Sunriver on our first night. But its a great way to see deer up close & personal, "my what big ears you have".

Thanks Stephanie,
Sounds like you had a close encounter with some of the locals your first night!
October is a great time. Glad the home worked well for you.

Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in October 2012
There were 4 of us, my husband and I and our daughter and her friend, and the house was big enough for us to all hang out together, or spend time apart - the girls had the upstairs to themselves.
My 13 year old daughter and her friend loved the spiral staircase.
The house was clean and cozy.
My only recommendation would be to replace the pans; all but one were in pretty rough shape.
We appreciated being able to check in and out over the house phone - very convenient!
And the Sharc passes were nice to have since it was one of the few rainy visits we've ever had to Sunriver.Response from Bennington Properties - 11/01/2012

Thanks Lisa,
That is a really nice location being so close to the Village and the SHARC.
We will check the pans immediately.
Thanks again.

Salem, OregonNice Place but a ilittle disappointing
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The house itself was fair especially for being dog friendly. Bennington left a fun package for my dog and his name was on it which was sweet. A couple disappointing things. If you are coming over to Sunriver please be aware that the outdoor part of the shark is closed during the week. So plan to go on the weekend if you want the lazy river, slides, etc. We were not aware of this and didn't think to call so we were waiting until Monday to go and ended up not experiencing any of it. Also my father had a stroke several years ago and one of my first questions is "Does this place have a shower on the main floor that is a step in with only about 3" to stop over to get in?" I was told yes but this is not true. The downstairs bath is a tub and the upstairs bath is a walk in shower but a spiral staircase to get to the second floor so no way could my dad do that. Anyways it was scary when my father got in the shower, almost fell. The kitchen needs some things like mixing bowls.
Response from Bennington Properties - 10/05/2012
Manager
Thanks Kathy,
Yes, that is unfortunate you missed the outdoor portion of the SHARC. They had originally planned to close the outdoor pools on Labor Day but then decided to do weekends only through September.
I apologize about the mis-information on the shower.
Hope Jonas had fun.

We had a great time at Deer 1.
It is cozy and comfortable and after a while it begins to feel like home.
It isn't a new property with all the updated amenities, but it provided us a great place to return to after a day of swimming, hiking, riding and all the other fun activities that Sunriver has to offer.

It was a nice little house, needs some updating though which is why it did'nt get 5 stars. But overall it's really cozy, i loved the layout, the loft area. My dog had fun but he had a hard time negotiating the spiral stair case, luckily there are stairs on the outside of the house as well. The hot tub and location were the big sellers for me. Overall I would come back to the house and probably will next year.

BeavertonThe good & the could have been better
Left on 04/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Generally...we were pleased with our stay at Deer1. There were some issues -
a) water leak, which we reported but the maintenance team was unable to fix while we were there resulting in a single shower available for all that were there
b) the lower bathroom which became our single shower did not have a fan, therefore the window had to be left open during showering to remove the steam
c) the pans are pretty beat up and not very good sizes available of pots to do cooking, resulting in our food sticking
d) cob webs next to fireplace - reported while we were there
e) the backporch door mat stayed wet all the time, maybe need a different kind that will drain and dry
f) hot tub could have been hotter, but was otherwise nice and clean
g) beds were real comfyResponse from Bennington Properties - 04/04/2012

Salem, Oregongreat Pet Rental close to the Village
Left on 10/05/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Had a great stay in this unit. This home was very comfortable. Loved the deck, gas fireplace and of course the hot tub. This home is very well priced. The only reason it did not get 5 stars across the board was due to the beds. The beds were very uncomfortable and could at least use a padded cover. We understand that new mattresss can be expensive. This was our first time renting with Bennington and the check in process was very easy. We will definately consider this unit and other Bennington Properties again for our next visit.
Do any of your rentals come with use of Mavericks?Response from Bennington Properties - 10/10/2011

Thanks Sara,
We will contact the owners about the beds. Starting in May 2012, all our guests will have free, unlimited access to the new Sunriver Aquatic center with indoor and outdoor pools.

This home is in a great location. We never needed the car. So nice to just walk or bike to the village. The house was a good size for the 3 of us and our dog. It was comfortable and clean, but the couch and chair downstairs could really use some updating! I would only recommend this house for 4 or less people, as there is only seating for that many. Our dog felt very welcome with all of his Bennington treats! We had a great time and will definately be back to Sunriver!

Deer 1 was very convenient to the Village and restaurants. The folks at Bennington Properties were great. We took our dogs with us and they had bowls, treats, balls, and bandanas waiting for us. The house was comfortable for the 4 of us. It could've been cleaner. It was a bit dusty and there were pastry boxes in the closet upstairs under the extra blankets. The bathrooms and other rooms were clean, however. Overall, it was a great experience.

We throughly enjoyed our stay. From the very beginning when we walked into the door of the house and saw the fire burning in the fireplace and music softly playing, we felt at home. Our dog Beau felt very special too with his new dog dish, treats, ball, bandanna, and special tag for his collar - just in case he should get lost. We also really appreciated the dog park area made available to us.
The next time we want to rent a place, we will call on Bennington Properties.Response from Bennington Properties - 10/14/2010

Lake Oswego, OROur time in Sunriver, in this house, is like coming home.
Left on 09/22/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We have been staying in Deer #1 for almost 20 years. It is a small, no frills house, which for us is part of the charm. We are in close quarters, but love the way it feels. No better way to spend time with family than playing games, watching movies, taking walks, riding bikes, cooking simple meals. The entire experience, which includes this house, has become a very important ritual to our family. Great memories, which again, center on this very house. If you are looking for a large, updated house, this isn't the place for you. Think of this as your cabin in the woods.

We weren't looking for a lot just a weekend away with the girls, and it totally met are needs. It had everything we needed and the location was great on the end with no neighbor on the side with the hot tub. The deck was great really big upstairs and down we got the most of it. It was cozy and clean worth the money. Maybe they could update the furniture and Tv's and bikes watch the blue one the seat turns all around couldn't get it to tighten. Over all though we had fun we will be back next year watch out!

This home needs a little updating but for my short stay it was just fine. Needed a little heavier cleaning - cobwebs, etc. I really liked that everything we needed to prepare meals, etc. was available. And the note about cribs, etc. was great! The movies we requested were waiting on arrival. Thanks! We'll use Bennington again, although when we come with family we'll need a bigger place!

Beaverton OregonGood experience with some caveats
Left on 07/29/2010 for a stay in July 2010
The location of the house was good it was quiet but close the the store and the amenities of Sunriver but surprisingly quiet. The size of the house was perfect for my wife and I and our adult kids who dropped in for a night or two. The wifi and electronics worked fine too. The house was in fairly bad repair though. Bathrooms had mold in the grout, sinks were rusty the locks on the sliding doors didn't function and lengths of wood were used to block the door closed when you left. The dry wall has water damage in the baths as well. So overall the experience was good but the condition of the baths left the feeling that the place hadn't been cared for and wasn't entirely clean.
Response from Bennington Properties - 07/29/2010

Roger, thank you for your review. I will have our maintenance team take care of these issues right away. This is not the type of experience we want our guests to have, so please accept my apologies that you found one of our homes in a state of disrepair.

Eureka, Cathe budget visit
Left on 05/18/2010 for a stay in April 2010
My family and I decided we wanted to get away for a
quick spring trip to Sunriver. We have stayed several
times in the past in several seasons and cabins. We
knew the prices were reasonable since it is off
season and we got a smaller cabin that was on the
cheaper side. This cabin was definitely smaller and
left much to be desired. I was glad for the new
carpet but the rest of the furniture and appliances
were quite old and run down. The cabin did appear
clean, however I noticed cobwebs in the corners and
ceiling. Overall, it was a decent place but next time
we will spend a bit more for something nicer.Response from Bennington Properties - 05/19/2010
Manager
Hi Beth, thank you for your review of 1 Deer. We appreciate your honest feedback and take your comments very seriously. The owners of 1 Deer have been working on a number of improvements (new carpet, etc.), however they do have older furniture as you mentioned (although it is well loved). Overall, it is hard to beat the price and location of this little home. The cobwebs in the vaulted ceiling are always a challenge to get down, but I will make sure housekeeping takes care of those right away. Thanks again, Beth. We really appreciate your family's business.

Eugenepleasant,comfortable winter retreat
Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We spent 2 days and 2 nights here over the holiday week. We found the space very comfortable and clean and with a well equiped kitchen. The hot tub was clean and worked well and was a pleasant escape . The home is in easy walking distance of the the shops and restaurants which we utilized. It was also close enough to walk to the golf course for some nice cross country skiing. The only criticism, and it was minor, was the heating system and trying to keep the temperatures adjusted comfortably between a gas fireplace that is either on or off and noisy when the fan is blowing hot air even when it's off, and space heaters. Using a space heater in the small bathroom with no grounded bathroom outlet seemed inconvenient and potentially dangerous.
When calls were, made either to the office or the hot tub service staff, tom responses were timely and helpful. -

Beaverton, OrReasonable and comfortable but a bit tired.
Left on 11/04/2009 for a stay in October 2009
The price was good, and it met our basic needs but is clearly in need of some serious updating. The bathrooms are pretty tired, and the area is small compared to other places that we have stayed in Sun River. Really no windows to look out and enjoy the view. Unlike other places that we have stayed, we probably will not return to Deer 1. The hot tub was great though.
The service from BP was great...helpful and friendly, but I would have wished a better lead on the actual unit. We may have been able to stay in a great unit for just a little bit more?? -

This was our family's first trip to Sunriver. Viewing available property and making reservations was so easy to do on the website. We stayed at 1 Deer Lane. We loved the home, it was comfortable and the kids also loved the board game selection. It was a great location, close to the mall. The weather was great, we had a wide range of 90+ degrees at the beginning of the week to 50+ at the middle. We visited the High Desert Museum, Lava Cast forest, Lava Lands/Lava Butte, went white river rafting, and bicycle riding on the network of trails, visited the Sunriver observatory at night (unfortunately we had cloud cover and couldn't see much) but we had a blast and plan to return next summer! Our time went by toooo fast. Thank you!

Left on 04/08/2009 for a stay in March 2009
We had such a nice relaxing time. The floor plan allows for everyone to be together yet have some privacy too. The gas fireplace was warm and made the cabin all the more comfy. Nice new carpet, comfortable beds.
My daughter and her friend enjoyed playing one of the available games in the loft and we all had a blast in the hot tub. The hot tub water had not been emptied from the last guest and we had to call someone to drain it and refill it. The hot tub serviceman came out within minutes. We rode the bikes from the shed several times all over this amazing place and got really good exercise.
The deck is an excellent design. It must be perfect for summer folks wanting to barbecue.
We could have used more hand towels and there wasn't a dustpan for sweeping up the floor. The bathroom heater needs fixing for winter folks. The dryer vent probably needs cleaning as it took forever for the towels to dry. The kitchen was fun to cook in and the sky lights are fantastic. My husband liked having the books to read and got to watch the basketball games on TV! (He was a happy camper). Thank you for allowing and welcoming dogs. We keep our dog clean and well mannered and it's important to us that he travels with us. We will recommend this place to our friends and will come again sometime! -

We loved it from the time we stepped in to the time we left. We were welcomed by the flames/warmth from the gas fireplace and classical music. There were dog treats to welcome my 2 dogs who did not join us in the last minute. The home was spacious, clean and comforting. I’ve not stayed at a rental in Sunriver that would accommodate dogs, so I was impress that it was not “doggy”. I also loved the convenience to the Mall Village. My only complaint is that there were only 3 wine glasses. I highly recommend this place for 4-6 people +/- dogs, and would stay again.

Left on 01/16/2009 for a stay in January 2009
This property was EXACTLY what we were looking for. We needed some time away to get energized for the new work year, and had everything we wanted - cozy fireplace, short walking distance to the village, dog-friendly, cottage style w/ lodge decor, cozy, hot tub...JUST PERFECT!! This was our first time to the Sun River/Bend area and we loved it. We'll definitely go back and probably even try to stay in the same place. This is a great cottage for 2 couples as there is a bedroom/bath downstairs and upstairs and even a futon couch in a loft area upstairs near the deck, overlooking the kitchen. We only used the downstairs because our Duke was intimidated by the spiral staircase but it was perfect for us. We absolutely loved it! If you're looking for a modern home, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a cottage, cozy lodge-like feel, this is it!

Left on 10/21/2008 for a stay in August 2007
We loved the home itself, but we were not told before renting that we couldn't leave our 2 little, well-behaved dogs in the house while we enjoyed the area. It was summer, and we couldn't take them in the car and leave them, so the vacation was not worth the money to us. We had to stay at home and couldn't go out to eat except late at night.
Response from Bennington Properties - 10/24/2008
Manager
Information on what to do with your pets when you are visiting are sent out to all guests prior to arrival. The reason that it is not good to leave dogs in the home alone is that they are in a strange environment that they are not familiar with. They may be well behaved when they are home, but dogs in an unknown environment may bark excessively, may scratch at the doors when they are left alone and do other damage if their owners are not available. Owners of homes that have opened their doors to dogs also deserve the right to have their home treated with respect. It is our intent to have as many homes be pet friendly as possible, but this is the compromise we must make with our homeowners to have this option available to guests.

We have made many wonderful memories here and hope to keep the tradition going for years to come! The cabin was enviting when we arrived, with lights, heator a/c and music on. Clear instructions on how to use the ammenities and current event information was so helpful! Our favorite welcome is the doggie treats for our dog. It truly makes us feel like our whole family is welcome.
The cabin was the perfect size for our family of four, and the circular stairwell was a hit! We spent cozy evenings sitting by the fire, sipping hot cocoa after soaking in the hottub. It was nice to have a variety of movies available. The kids loved the loft! Easy access to the bike paths, and the short distance to the Village made for many quick outings.
Thank you for the memories and helping us build a great family tradition. We'll definately come back to this cozy cabin!
