Strawberry Pie
Cheyenne, WYNice place for a family reunion
Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in August 2012
This is a great rental for a large group such as ours. We had several couples (with grown kids) and 3 kids along. The place had 4 bedrooms in the main house and another large studio over the garage. The couples with kids stayed in the studio and had their "own place". The neighborhood is nice and quiet, bike paths all over the place, hot tub on the deck, large, well-equipped kitchen, living room, family room. Bikes were provided and they worked--were old and not very comfortable, but for a short ride they were fine. We got Village Properties to include admission to the new rec center with outdoor water slides which made all the younger ones happy.

Thanks Karen,
That is a great lodge style home in a terrific location. It's nice being so close to the river.
Glad the kids got to enjoy the SHARC.

Portland, OregonComfortable, roomy home with all the conveniences
Left on 03/17/2010 for a stay in March 2010
My group of college buddies and I have been coming to Sunriver for over 25 years, and have stayed at #15 Duck Pond for at least 12 of those years. We're always comfortable in this pleasant, roomy home. For the sunny days, there is a large upper deck and balcony, and for the cooler days, there is a new outdoor hot tub. Lots of separate seating areas for quiet conversation, roudy card games, or just watching TV. The spacious kitchen is the perfect gathering place at dinner time.

Bethesda, MarylandProperty deteriorated relative to last rental but still worked o
Left on 08/06/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We have rented properties in Sunriver for many years since it is ideal for family vacations. We had rented this particular property 2 years ago and were very happy then since it accommodates large family gatherings extremely well due to large open living space. This time however, when we arrived, we found the house largely without siding with siding and window replacement obviously not completed on schedule. Village Properties was not aware of this. Besides the unsightly exterior appearance, there must have been several weeks of garbage accumulated and uncollected downstairs and on the deck, and the interior of the house was very dusty with some windows very dirty and hard to see through (probably from construction). Village Properties sent cleaners, repairmen and garbage truck next day and agreed to a price reduction after a few calls. The house still worked out fine for our family reunion - minus the picture taking outside! And with the price reduction, we were less bothered by the unfinished exterior renovation.

Portland OregonPresident's Day Tradition
Left on 02/23/2009 for a stay in February 2009
We have stayed here for President's Day weekend several times already and love almost everthing about it. The layout of the house is convenient for a large family reunion and the kitchen island is spacious enough to prepare and serve a feast for everyone there. The only NEGATIVE that will keep us from coming back is the LACK OF WI-FI INTERNET ACCESS. I planned on using some of my time to make further travel arrangements and catch up on e-mail.... all to no avail. I had to schlep out to Mavericks to use their wi-fi. For as high as the rental cost is, it seemed very inappropriate.

Left on 01/10/2009 for a stay in August 2008
We have a large family that vacations together nearly every year. This property is large enough for all of us to gather for dinner/poker and other activities. There are two living room areas and a huge kitchen. We had no problems.

Washington stateUncomfortable stay
Left on 01/09/2009 for a stay in July 2008
There were too many issues with things that didn't work, or were
downright dangerous (frayed cords, scalding water) with this house,
and it is NOT cheap.
We have stayed at Sunriver for close to a decade every summer,
from humble to palatial places, and always felt welcomed. Owners
who rent generally know others need to feel welcome and do a
great job in providing lovely surroundings. You also basically get
what you pay for. If we were paying $100 - 200 a night, I would not
feel so disappointed. Foremost, we did not feel welcomed in this
house. The owner puts little notes on everything directing you how
or how not to use an item and does not stop at one note but places
multiples. The heat pump didn't work, the hot tub didn't work - all
inconvenient - requiring service visits in the middle of our vacation.
Another surprising thing was the owner provides no - not ONE -
cupboard for guests to put their food (we were a large party staying
for more than one week) so you have to stack it in great cascades
falling off of the counters. This is the first time in a nearly a decade
I have stayed and not had the owner consider I would need a place
to put my food.
I could go on and on, but I am trying to be respectful about a place
that drained our wallets, and has us looking for another summer
destination this year. Bottom line: you cannot enjoy your stay if you
do not feel welcome. This is the first time at Sunriver this happened
to us.
