Horne and Newchapel (sussex)This is an amazing destination!!!
Left on 04/23/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We had promised ourselves to visit Barbados for many years, should have done it sooner .
We had a list of placesthat Stephanie the owner had given us , one of her suggestions was Sugar Hill , this is about a 15 minute drive from the apartment, this is set back from the ocean, you get absolute peace and quiet. It has a lovely restaurant, so its best to ring just to check what days and evenings they open the restaurant, as long as you eat there or have cocktails you are made very welcome, we found that we had use of the swimming pool, this is for use of the residents staying at Sugar Hill.
The Swimming pool is designed to look at eternity, as you can see in the distance the Caribbean ocean.
We also made some very good friends that were staying at Sugar Hill, that we will stay in touch with .
We had a wonderful time , Stephanie helped all she could , passing all her info that she had cooleced over the years . We will be back !!! -

LeedsLovely apartment in a fantastic location
Left on 02/22/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Just returned from a week at this apartment and would definitely recommend it. We hired a car (from Stoutes which was only £250 for the week) and found the apartment no problem with Stephanie's directions. It was very clean and a nice size. It was in a brilliant location - just far enough away from the centre of Holetown that it was nice and peaceful but close enough that it was only a 5-10 minute walk away from the beautiful beach. We never even used the swimming pool because the beach was amazing.
Places to eat - just grillin, zaccios and surf side were all nice for a cheap lunch. Elbow room was great for hot stone grilling on an evening. The Tides in Holetown was probably the best meal I've ever had - it was £140 for my boyfriend and I but we both had starters and mains and a bottle of prosecco and it was totally worth the money if you fancy a treat at this sea front restaurant. Mullins restaurant was a 10 minute drive away and was also really good.
I would definitely stay in this apartment again when we return to Barbados, I couldn't really fault it for the price we paid. And Stephanie was brilliant to deal with and Sophie was also really nice.Response from Stephanie Crouchman - 02/23/2012

Thank you so much Kathryn, it is so good to hear you had a wonderful stay, I would love to have you stay again, I hope you return. You find that if you return it just gets better as you already have a feel for the place and know the places you want to return to, and much more to explore.
I have such lovely times and memories there myself. The position is great, as you say the beaches are stunning, and the restaurants give you so much choice.
I myself hire a car, it is well worth it, the Island is so beautiful you just want to take it all in, and the locals are so friendly, all sides of the Island are beautiful and many beaches on the West coast, where the apartment is if you do not want to travel and just chill out.
All good things, kind regards Stephanie -
DaversLondon
London, EnglandVery clean, roomy, one-bed apartment - good value.
Left on 01/21/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Stayed at the apartment 5 for 5 nights in January 2012.
The positives:
Stephanie (the owner) was extremely courteous and helpful when booking our stay, and also answered any questions we had about the apartment and Barbados itself. I'm sure you will find that too. The apartment is very clean, roomy and with loads of storage space.
It has ceiling and floor fans, and also an air-con unit in the bedroom which is great to put on when you come back after a day out in the heat!
All the bed linen and towels were fresh and clean, and everything in the kitchen you could possibly need. There's a safe too, but to be honest we never felt there would ever be a need to use it, as the area was very safe indeed.
I would highly recommend the 'Just Grillin' restauarant for dinner - the fresh fish there is awesome, and the flying fish to die for! It's a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment on the approach to Holetown.
The buses are plentiful and cheap, and will take you anywhere you need to go on the island. It's a flat fare of 70p ($2), the people are very friendly, and a must to see the beauty of the rest of the island.
The drawbacks:
The apartment isn't the easiest place to find if you catch a cab from the airport as I did, rather than be picked up by Sophie - the lady who looks after the apartment for Stephanie. So directions would be very useful as we drove round for a while. Also, you can negotiate with taxis around the airport, and we managed to pay only $40 Barbados from the airport to the apartment (£14) and then back, so well worth doing this yourself and saving a fair amount of cash.
I have to say the picture is slightly misleading. The pool you can use is actually a 15 minute walk from the apartment - not on site - and has definitely seen better days. It's also very difficult to find, as Sophie didn't explain where it was and we had to walk around for quite a while to find it. Also there are no 'gardens' as such at the front of the apartment, just a small patch of grass with flowered bushes with the road the other side of it. To be honest, not somewhere you'd really want to sit out on, and not at all private.
The nearby beach - again around 15 mins walk - was disappointing, quite small and with too many people just content to sit outside the beach cafe/bar all day and get drunk. Fine if that's your bag, but it wasn't really ours. Also loads of hawkers hassling you for jet skis, turtle swimming, fake watches etc.
The apartment itelf has a TV with but no satellite/cable, and only one snowy channel to watch, supposedly being local news, but usually just a screen of information. There is however a DVD player, so take some with you to avoid disappointment.
Probably the most disappointing part of our stay was the noise when trying to sleep at night. I'm not sure if the people living at the back, work night-shifts, but every night around 3 or 4 am there were car doors slamming and loud conversations going on - no thought or respect forothers trying to sleep. This is something that Stephanie will hopefully be able to remedy.
Summary:
The apartment is clean, spacious and good value to stay at for a base in Barbados. However, I would highly recommend leaving the area each day to see the island by bus and the beautiful beaches it has to offer, in the south - Oistins (30 mins, ) and on the east coast the stunning, stunning Cranes Beach, one of the most beautiful beach locations we have ever seen (about 1hr 15). Cranes is a must, seriously.
Also, see Bridgetown for it's history on an afternoon, and also the wonderful wildlife reserve in the north - the monkey & animal feeding at 2pm daily, is incredible!
At night staying local to the apartment is fine - 'Just Grillin' I mentioned earlier, and also the small Buccaneer bar/restaurant does the most delicious salted cod bajan fish cakes and ice cold beers!
This is an honest and genuine reflection of the apartment, the area and our stay, and I hope it proves useful for your trip.Response from Stephanie Crouchman - 02/23/2012
Owner
Thank you for your feedback, and good comments on the apartment being clean and spacious, it is also in a great position for moving round the Island and having great beach bars so local.
The Island being quite small, you made the most of seeing all sides of the coast.
Barbados is a great destination to relax and enjoy all that it has to offer, most people just chill out and enjoy, all my other rentals have really enjoyed their stay
There are many beaches on the platinum coast, where the apartment is situated, all the beaches are public, its a shame that you only found the one outside the beach bars
Any noise you might have experienced at night was unfortunate, and I looked into immediatly, I checked with a manager for the dates you stayed and he said he had no complaints of noise, also I asked other rentals beside mine and they said the same.
I hope you visit the Island again as you had a great time seeing other parts of the Island, as your stay was just five days it would be good for you to see more
Kind regards Stephanie -

AustraliaBrilliant location, beautiful accommodation!
Left on 07/20/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My husband and I stayed at Stephanie's beautiful apartment for 4 nights in July 2011. Upon arrival we were greeted by Sophie who showed us through the apartment. Both Stephanie and Sophie were always available to email / call throughout our stay if we had any questions.
The apartment is located a 5 minute walk from the stunning west coast beaches, great restaurants (Zaccios for a fabulous lunch whilst at the beach, The Beachhouse for a romantic dinner!) and is a stones throw from the bus stop that takes you up north to Speighstown or south to Oistins and Crane Beach. The coffee shop across the road is great and has wifi! We also had access to the pool, but didn't want to stay out of the ocean :)
The apartment itself is very roomy and clean with a large dresser and closet in the bedroom. The living area is also spacious with a dining table for 4, couch area and great functional kitchen. Just make sure you have lots of 1BB coins for the air conditioner on hand :)
A fantastic apartment, on a beautiful island with loads of character!"Response from Stephanie Crouchman - 07/21/2011

Binfield, BerkshireOur fantastic holiday in Barbados!!
Left on 06/03/2011 for a stay in September 2010
My boyfriend and I stayed in this wonderful apartment for 2 weeks in September. The location was perfect; the apartment was fantastic and had everything you could need. The apartment was spotless and perfectly maintained.
The local supermarket is just a 5 minute walk away to stock up on everything you could need to self-cater.
The apartment was close to the fabulous beach, bars and restaurants. We would definitely recommend Surf Side bar on the beach, many a happy hour (or several) were spent there watching the sun set.
Zacchios served some of the nicest food we ate while in Barbados and seating is available above the beach with fantastic views. Beware of the Bajan Hot sauce though!!
We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island on the local buses. Also an excursion to go swimming with the turtles was amazing and worth every penny!
I can't wait to go back to Barbados one day and would definitely recommend this apartment!

Left on 03/20/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We happily settled into our comfortable accommodation for the second year having been picked up at the airport by Sophie. Sunset Crest, where our cottage was located, is in such a convenient spot- close to the beach and all shops, banks, medical facilities and public transportation- and yet very quiet at night. We again enjoyed the fabulous Beach House with its lovely pool and restaurant.
We are retired and ate most of our meals at the cottage. The kitchen was adequately equipped and we enjoyed sitting on our front patio for meals and reading in the evening. The cottage faces west and has no shade in front so it does get very warm in the mid afternoon. We chose that time of day to be at the Beach House. There are fans in every room as well as quiet air conditioning in the bedroom which really helped.
The apartment is fresh looking with attractive light furniture.
We enjoyed exploring the island by bus and found being so close to the bus stop a real convenience.
Highly recommended!Response from Stephanie Crouchman - 03/21/2011

The location of this villa is brilliant, you could not ask for better place, it is close to all amenities, shops, restaurants, swimming pool, beautiful beaches and the local bus service. The villa has just everything you would require whilst on holiday, especially if you are catering for yourselves. We travelled the island on the local buses, which was great. I would highly recommend this villa.

Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in July 2010
This was my first viist to Barbados, following my girlfriends advice to visit as she had previously visist twice before.
All I can say is wow. I have visisted many countries and many luxurious islands but Barbados is now one of my favourites.
Firstly landing in Barbados, to find our luggage bag split open (Never the best start) however being greeted by the gorgeous weather, beautiful scenery and further more greeted by a lovely lady Sophia. She kindly collected us from the airport and showed us to the appartment.
We were extremely happy with the appartments location, as it was a stones throw from the beautiful beaches, swimming pool, bars and restaruants. Also as we were self catered just a short walk to the local supermarket which had everthing you need.
The appartment itself was lovely, it was spotless and well managed and we enjoyed spending our evening on the terrace listening to the local wildlife.
We had so many special memories whilst visting Barbados and all made sweeter by our choice of excellent accomodation.
We fully intend to revisit this appartment and would reccommend it to anyone wishing to experience Barbados to the same degree we did.Response from Stephanie Crouchman - 03/04/2011
