This was a very nice home, very cozy and had everything we needed. It was far from wisp (which we knew it would be) but close to the lake. It was a nice home for our family and friends.
The only negative was that the hot tub was not maintained well and we all came home with a hot tub related skin (bacterial) infection. This was bad considering the hot tub was one of the reasons we decided to rent this house. Our one child is now covered with neck to toe "chicken pox" like rash. Everyone who was in the hot tub got the rash in varying degrees based on length of time in hot tub. Luckily the rash hit on the day we were leaving or our stay would have been ruined.
Other than that , we enjoyed our stay.

We did write a lengthy review upon leaving, so I will just add that I literally spend hours looking at all the houses available to me on line before I make a choice and study the pictures. Using that and the cost I make choices. Chelsea's Cottage isn't an un-rentable dump, but for the price, the house had too many amenities in disrepair and the overall house was too shabby.

The place was very nice. Perfect for what we wanted to do that weekend. Next time I will rent or bring a boat down to take advantage of the Lake.
Love the Lake
Location helps you overlook the updating needed on the house.

We really enjoyed the location and the dock. There were some maintenance/updating issues that made the house less enjoyable. The layout is nice and worked well with kids and pets.

Place was just fine with the exception of the flea infestation.

The location on the lake is great - wide lake views and relatively quiet. And, the house has good bones & could be charming. It is worn & should not be allowed in a rental pool. The oven door would not close; the refrigerator leaked; the water is so hard you can wash white clothes; and the bathrooms are horrible.
The worst part rests solely with Railey Rental. There was absolutely no excuse for the house to be that filthy. There were dead ants around the fireplace and windows. The furniture & pillows were so dusty that dust flew when you sat on the sofa or chairs. The windows were full of spiders - inside & out. Shame on you for the liability you are placing on a home owner if someone gets a spider bite. And, there were dirty, greasy dishes in the cabinets.
I had to sweep all around the house; wash all of the dishes I thought we would use for the week; and sweep everywhere.

I really liked the property it was just what we were looking for with the private dock and the fire ring. I thought the bathrooms could have been cleaner, and i am assuming that the water is like that at all times, with the bad taste to brush your teeth. But what annoyed me was that we rented this property from tues thru sat and every morning we had some one walk onto the porch of the property without announcing that they were there. One guy got a red bin of linen, didn't even as much as hollar hello when he was walking around the house. then another day, the guy showed up and mowed the lawn, while we were sitting outside trying to talk, i didn't like that. When we rented before we never had that at the other house.
Pretty view but disappointed

I thought the home was nicely funished and had a beautiful view of the lake. However, all kitchen appliances were dated. The kitchen had many broken cups, lids etc. The bathrooms were really outdated and the one shower was extremely small. The front door would jam frequently and would be difficult to open.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this house 2 years ago.
The backyard, porch, and pit area are fabulous!
The kitchen and bathrooms really do need to be updated and cleaned up.
It is a great location -it is not cheap so we did expect abit more than the inside the house had to offer.
This home has some major problems!

We love renting at Deep Creek thru Railey and have done so for many of years.Service is not an issue the house has major problems.
The fireplace did not draw properly and filled the home up with smoke choking everybody to a point where we had to evacuate to outside. Burning a fire is one of the major reason for going to the lake.
The shower had mold that either would not clean up or had been there a long time. the floor in the master bath was soft like it was rotten. At the prices we pay for a weekend of fun this was some what disappointing.
This pass October we rented on Shoreline drive Lakeside landing I think was the name, a very nice weekend great house trying to work out a summer week for the family. They only way I would return to Chelsea's Cottage is if Railey put in writing a money back clause, if the house was not repaired. The property and setting was fantastic. I'm sure we filed our discontent with our weekend last year and herd nothing from you guys. That forced a look into the other rental property company this year.

the setting was beautiful however the cottage had many problems. The porch was weak in several areas, the oven door was duct tapped closed, the electrical was not safe (bathroom light was falling apart with electric wire showing, light at the dock was laying on the ground with wires exposed)We also had issues with bats flying into the cottage from the fireplace vents.
THE HOUSE FROM HELL - AN AMITYVILLE HORROR

We have been renting from Railey for the past thirteen years and have never rented a house like this one. It was horrible. Just to list a few things that were wrong - a disheveled American Flag (quite a disgrace), a broken oven door - oven could not be used, pots and pans which were burnt and beyond use, burnt utensils, no pot holders, a dishwasher full of rust, a refrigerator that hummed loudly, a furnace that was loud and rattled the house to the point that when it was running we had to turn the TV up as loud as it would go, when lit, the fireplace filled the house with smoke which caused the fire alarms to erupt, and casued all of our clothing to smell like smoke and had to be aired out before we could use them, the hall bathroom had a shower stall which I would not even let a pet use let alone a human being, the bathroom in the master bathroom was very small and in order to use the shower you had to stand sideways in the bathroom into the shower to turn the water on and off, no fire wood, the deck was littered with lawn furniture and flower pots with dead plants, and the list goes on and on.
After calling the office every half hour for two days with complaints and being told there were no other rentals availabe we were moved to another house on Christmas Eve. This entire experience left us with a very bad taste in our mouths. Imagine having to pack up and move to another house on Christmas Eve. This holiday is very important to us and having to do this move was very upsetting for us.
I don't have to tell you that it is a very expensive holiday to start with and the cost of renting a house for the holiday for eleven days adds considerably to those costs. We expected more from Railey.
Now I see that this house is still for rent - appalling - absolutely appalling.
