We love Island View. Our 11 year old Lab loves Island View! It's simple, peaceful and it works for us. Nothing better than sitting by the lake morning, noon or night. No noise, geat neighborhood!

We love Island View. It's as simple as that! Peaceful, homey and perfect for our 11 yr old dog. She doesn't do steps, or at least many of them but she loves to swim. Nice quite street & easy to get to town and hiking. Want to come back in the future!

Island View is very spacious but cozy at the same time. Great fireplace! The yard is huge and the access to the lake and dock is awesome.
We have stayed here twice now and would definitely stay again...one draw back is the stove in the kitchen is a little out dated but we didn't cook much so it wasn't a big deal.
Overall...just a great place.
Fantastic time at the Lake with the Pup

Island View was a fantastic cottage with a perfect location on the lake. Every evening we had an unobstructed view of the sunset.
There were 2 minor inconveniences - 1) only 1 bathroom with a shower, and 2) no internet. Neither was a big deal. We only had a party of 4.
The property was nicely sloped to the lake, and the private dock was very convenient.
It was a wonderful, relaxing vacation.

This is the second time we have rented this place in the fall. Has a nice cabin like feel. We meet two friends and their kids up here and hope to make it a yearly thing from here on out. Pet friendly which is great as my dog loves hanging out at deep creek with us. Would recommend it to someone who wants to get away.
very peaceful atmosphere

The location of the house was perfect! Quiet, peaceful and secluded. The level yard to the dock was exactly what we were looking for. It was a bit of a drive to the main attractions but not so far as to be a nuisance. My only complaint is that the house was advertised with very little amenities, but it's one selling point was the "extended cable". We had cable for 3 days then litlle by little the cable channels were removed. By day 5 we had only very basic channels. When traveling with 4 teenage boys cable is essential for sports to keep them entertained at night or when it's raining. I was told that there was nothing Railey could do about it, so I had 4 teenage boys going through sports withdrawal by Saturday when we left. I hope that this is either corrected in the brochure to "basic cable" or that the owners see fit to restore it back to "extended".

We liked the cottage very much. Very nicely layed out. Rooms were great. Nice level property with beautiful surroundings. One of our persons was hadicapped, which was a great location. Close and not difficult to get to main road areas. One complaint was that the 2nd bathroom with tub had no electrical plugs for shaving, etc. Also no glass holder nor soap dish holder. Otherwise everything was great. Read more

The home was very nice and comfortable... for the first night.
The fridge broke and our food spoiled or froze on the back porch. Maint. came and determined the fridge to be broken but none ever showed to fix it... for 3 more days. Food had to be thawed in the sink b/c the microwave caught on fire after 30 seconds.
Heat did not work properly in 2 of the bedrooms... but my husband able to fix that.
Your manager, LaDonna Stem handled our complaint. Her professionalism and courtesy was much appreciated. By far the best customer service we have ever received!
Although our stay was miserable, its because of LaDonna that we will be back again- using Railey Mtn. for a 4th time.

Home was very comfortable and had easy access to the lake and dock. The only very minor negative is that it could use a new outdoor grill. At the time we were there (early June) it seemed we had the entire normally quiet area of the lake to ourselves.
Mixed Bag at Island View
Left on 10/14/2009 for a stay in August 2008 | M.G.
My family of 4 stayed here in August of 2008. It's an excellent location on a great piece of property with a wonderful long sloping lawn to a dock on a quiet part of the lake. Perfect for my 2 pre-teen boys to run around and really great for evening campfires.
Unfortunately, the interior of the home is quite dated and almost run-down and really needs to be brought up to 21st century standards in terms of decor, conveniences and even plumbing (the kitchen and bathrooms were circa 1950's with no indication that any thought had been given to them since then).
So, the experience was a mixed-bag. I do think that with some significant capital investments in the interior of the home that the property could be one of the best rentals on the lake.
Beautiful foliage weekend!

Had a very nice weekend. The accomodations were fine -- beds were comfortable, kitchen was good, lots of games and puzzles provided. Nice fireplace.
Issues: Lack of vcr/dvd cables (tough with 4 and 2 yr olds that want to watch "Mary Poppins"!), and the TV in the master bedroom is dangerously perched on a rickity stand (again a problem with lttle ones). We put the tv on the floor.
Need to update the website to indicate the prescence of washer/dryer (impacts packing).
