We could not stay at Stonegate, so I was given some other choices. I was very happy with the houses I was given to choose from, and extremely happy with the house I chose, Tamaqua Lodge. We had a very enjoyable stay.

We had a beautiful view of the lake, plenty of room, well stocked kitchen and everyone enjoyed themselves. The only complaint is that we didn't have a long enough time. It was to short.
Very Enjoyable weekend!

The location was perfect, allowed those who wanted to go skiing or snowboarding with just a short drive and others the oppurtunity to go to Swallow falls. The house was spacious enough for the 17 of us, escepically the great room which allowed for all of us to come together to play games and sit around catching up! Definetly plan to make this an annual vacation spot!

The house has plenty of room for a large group - big kitchen, large deck, nice area downstairs. Overall a pretty decent house. It's an older house so it comes with some "old house issues" -- water pressure is very low, oven doesn't heat very well, older appliances.
I liked that it was dog friendly and it have a great hot tub.
It is very good for the money you pay though -- we had a great time!
Great location, poor quality

I rented this house because I was doing the Savageman Triathlon and wanted something close to the race. The location was great but there were many issues with the home. When we arrived at the property we found a sink that was broken and running and the house smelled very musty. We had to open all the windows and air the house out. I called to get the sink fixed which was taken care of quickly. The next day I found that the stove was broken and had just 1 working burner. We then found when we went to check out that the shower on the lower level was leaking into the bedroom closet and saturated our luggage. Additionally I rented this house because it was advertised as having a jacuzzi tub which the home did not have. I spoke to a manager about these issues because I feel as though I did not get my money's worth for my rental but the issue has failed to be resolved and it has been over 1 week. I will probably not use Railey again.
Great stay in an enormous house

We had 16 guys for a bachelor party weekend getaway, and we fit very comfortably. The place was beautiful, too nice for a group of 16 guys actually. The location and private dock were perfect for us to enjoy boating all day, and the expansive deck was a nice place to hang out at night. This was everything we were looking for, and everyone commented on how nice the place was, asking how I had found it.

This was a house in need of updating and repair. Basement smelled musty and we found mold in a closet. Location was excellent and it was very neat and clean upon our arrival. I gave it a poor rating because of the disrepair and the water. We did not know that the water would be smelly, undrinkable and smelled strongly of iron. Our skin and hair were orange! We have rented many houses from Railey Mt. Lake but this is one we will never rent again.
THE LEAKING CEILING

I SLEPT UNEASY BECAUSE OF THE LEAKING CEILING. WAS NOT SURE WHERE THE WATER WAS COMING FROM AND PRAYED THAT THE ROOF WAS NOT GOING TO COLLAPSE ON ME OR A FAMILY MEMBER. AND A TV'S IN EVERY ROOM WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE. BUT OVER ALL WE ENJOYED THE HOME. THE HOT TUB WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF EVERYONE VACATION.
I'd come back but not to this property

I'd consider renting from Railey again, but not necessarily from this property. My primary complaint and suggestion is to get firm mattresses for both the queen sleeper sofa pullout and the bunk bed. You could literally feel the steel frame supporting both mattresses when laying down. Investing into a better mattress is a nominal cost is better than to lose a repeat customer.
I'd also fix the water pressure. Or at least make sure the shower head on the top floor was more consistent. Sometimes, it would work, sometimes, it wouldn't work. I'd also buy more than 1 skillet/frying pan for the kitchen. Definitely not enough when cooking.
Overall, Railey has good service and solid amenities so no complaint there. Just mostly on the details of the home.

Overall, we had a good time, but it definitely was some issues..

Overall, we had a good time in this house, but it definitely was some items to improve upon:
When we arrived to the house, we spent 30 minutes to get up to the driveway – it wasn’t cleaned from the ice and snow and it was no salt next to the house for us to use… After we finally got into the house, we called to the maintenance department to report this issue. I should admit that they arrived shortly and cleaned the ice (I just wish they would done it before our arrival, so we wouldn’t need to “push” our cars up to the driveway).
Later we mat another issue: The water pressure was very very low. If any of us turn the water downstairs, the rest of the house couldn’t use any of the bathrooms… This was the biggest problem, because the house is supposed to feet 16 people and has three and half bathrooms, but we never could use any of them at the same time… It’s very inconvenient when you have such a big group of people. Also I should add that the house advertised has three full bathrooms, when you only can use two to them to take a shower, because one of them only has a bathtub, but no showerhead…
Another minor issue we meet with the stove condition… We had a big crew and needed to cook a lot of food, but one of the stove burners didn’t work…
The staff we liked the most: the location of the house and also enjoyed the hottub!
Wasnt a good experience at all!

When pulling up to the house you are greeted with a wonderful presentation. Wonderful structure sitting on top of a hill overlooking the lake. Wonderful views! But inside of the home there were major issues. There was no centralized heating source so you had to go to almost every room and turn the heat on and off my a turnable dial. So in the morning you had to wait for the bathroom to heat up before you could use it. This is not the biggest issue though. The major issue was the water situation! I mean...we didn't do anything but stay in the house the entire weekend because the water pressure was horrible. The water would actually STOP while you were taking a shower and other times it would just get could. We couldnt was clothes, run the dish washer and take showers. It slowed everything down. Granted, we did have people in every room but a house that size should have a big enough water heater to deal with the demands inside of the home. In addition to the water situation all of the televisions were outdated. This was my 10th time coming to deep creek and this was my worse experience thus far.

This was our second year at Stonegate. Several small problems from 08 had been corrected--a new grill, screens repaired, etc. New paint was also nice. We did have to phone for a few problems. There were no steps to allow access to the hot tub, and a toilet leaked. The response to our service calls was very rapid, and in each case the problem was corrected quickly. The space works well for our extended family. Staff support was excellent. We wish the road was less busy. Read more

Great house, no water
Left on 10/14/2009 for a stay in August 2008 | LongtimeDCLrenter
This is a lovely house which is quite roomy and comfortable. We had two issues with the house - one major and one minor - the well capacity is not adequate so everyday, multiple times a day, we had hours with no water - LITERALLY. Just a drip would come out of the faucet or the toilets would be unable to flush. This was unsanitary and the house should not be rented until the problem is resolved. The minor issue was the soap door on the dishwasher was stuck shut and we were unable to add soap other than in the pre-wash divot when using the dishwasher. My extended family decided to re-rent the house because it was a bargain in 2009 and reported that the water and dishwasher problems still persist.
