Description from the owner
"Hello Yello"
A tranquil eco friendly garden apartment perfect for a relaxing holiday in the heart of Bondi Beach. Nestled in the leafy quiet end of Hall Street, this private apartment has recently been renovated based upon eco-design principles.
The "Hello Yello" apartment (named for the splashes of vibrant yellow – my favourite colour – incorporated into the decore) features natural finishes throughout, polished wooden floors and mid-century modern furniture. Designer lights interplay with re-purposed objects (such as a 70s airline trolley pantry) adding to the character and sense of consideration that permeates the apar...Read more

ChichesterGreat stay at the Bondi Eco Garden
Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012
My husband and I stayed at the Eco Garden for 10 days over Christmas and New Year. I actually searched high and low for accommodation in Sydney over Christmas and this was all I could find. I thought that we might have been left with some poor, over priced accommodation but this could not have been further from the truth.
Our flight arrived earlier than expected at silly o'clock in the morning and David the CEO (Chief Egg Officer) could not have been more accommodating for us. He let us in early and allowed us to check in to our room. He even asked the other guests to keep the noise down while we caught up on some precious zeds.
The Eco Garden itself is just off one of the main streets at Bondi, conveniently located for everything and about a 5 minute walk from the beach. To me it was crossed between a bed and breakfast and a very posh, boutiquey hostel. There are 4 main bedrooms with 2 shared bathroom and a shared kitchen. The ethos behind the eco garden focuses on sustainability and conservation where possible. Breakfast to a certain extent is provided, in that the chickens provide eggs for breakfast, there are also bees that provide honey and David provides the tea/coffee/milk/butter and bread! As an aside all the food waste provides food for the chickens or the worms in the wormery. The kitchen was really useful with all mod cons and despite being shared was always clean - I think David makes a concerted effort that it isnt untidy and to be fair to all guests they were all of the age where they were conscienscious enough to clear up after themselves.
The rooms themselves were large, clean bright and airy. We stayed in the 'Gatsby' room and although the room was without curtains it wasnt a major issue for me and my husband as it meant we got up early they might need to be a consideration for other guests. One of the shared bathrooms was the room next to ours, this was fine and actually really convenient until one fo the guests decided to take midnight showers and being an old house the pipes were actually quite noisy. However to be fair to David we did raise this with him and he must have spoken to the guests as it didnt happen again. The bathroom itself was again, clean, great shower and David really works at hard at making the shared facilities work for everyone.
David was the perfect host and made us feel extremely welcome, as a local he had some great breakfast/coffee/restaurant recommendations. He provides bikes incase you want to cycle around and generally made us feel as if we were living in a home from home. I should also add that everyone we met who was staying here was lovely and a great place to meet like minded people, some of whom I am sure I will stay in contact with.
We loved our stay here and would definitely return if going back to Bondi and needed somewhere to stay. -

Toronto, CanadaWelcoming and Friendly apartment in the heart of Bondi
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Eco Garden apartment in late May for 4 nights while visiting Sydney. Dave, the owner, was a wonderful and welcoming host--neither in your face nor absent. Fresh eggs and bread were routinely provided at no charge and we're totally delicious.
The apartment is the lower level of a house so was a bit cool in the midst of fall in Sydney, but I imagine in the midst of summer you could want nothing more.
Cool temps aside, this was still a great home base for exploring Bondi and the Sydney area. It's situated in the heart of Bondi, a mere 5 min walk from the beach, transit, and more cafes than you know what to do with. And despite this proximity, it was amazingly quiet and great for sleeping.
Overall a great option for those who want to experience a different side of Bondi than backpack culture, and want to have an option to get out of the CBD.
