Additional Location Information
Homebush West is approx. 15 km. west of the City and 3 km. from the Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush.
Our railway station is Flemington, less than 500 m away, just a 5-minute walk from "Mum's House". Trains run frequently, and it takes 30-40 minutes to get to the Harbour - $5.80 offpeak return adult fare, $2.90 for children. (Also, 7 buses a day run to and from the station, if you don't fancy the Flemington station steps; they will take you to Strathfield where there are ramps and lifts to the platform.)
We're about 10 minutes by private transport from the Olympic Park, or you can walk it in 30 brisk minutes! (In 2008, 3 wheelchair racers staying at "Mum's House" wheeled back and forth daily!) Or take the train one station west then change to the Sprint train for a short ride to Olympic Park.
We're just 2 stations from Strathfield, a central interchange, from where 1000 trains a day will take you to just about anywhere in NSW.

Isle of LuingA real home from home
Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We had the pleasure of staying in "Mum's House" for eight nights in February this year. We found the house perfect for our stay. Easy access into Sydney centre by train and anna's recommendation of buying the MyMulti ticket made travelling around a breeze. The house has all the amenities one could wish for and it was great to be able to cook for ourselves for a change. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending staying here if you need accommodation in Sydney. In fact if we ever manage to travel back in the future I will certainly be in touch with anna.

Battle Creek, Michigan, USAMum's House Feels Like Our House
Left on 11/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Mum's House is a very unique property. It really is a home built by anna for her mother in her backyard and has everything you need for a quiet, relaxing vacation.
Just a half hour train ride from the Quay and a five-minute walk from the station, you will feel like you are home. Mum's House has two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, complete kitchen, flatscreen TV, livingroom with easy chairs, laundry facilities, and the most complete set of brochures, maps, transit guides, restaurant menus, and helpful hints outside of the visitor and convention bureau. Plus, she thrives on helping you plan your best routes and helps you find the right train, ferry, or bus to get you safely there and back. Using anna's help, we rode the Rivercat from Parramatta to Circular Quay one day and took the train west to the Blue Mountains on another day. With the MyMulti pass, good on all public transit, we daily trekked into the city visiting all the major "must-sees." But, we loved preparing meals "at home" after a long day of enjoying the city. Occasionally we chose "take-away" from the wide variety of excellent asian restaurants just a block away. We enjoyed living in a truly comfortable australian home. But perhaps the most wonderfully unique aspect of Mum's House is the birds. We woke each day to the chattering and screeching of rainbow lorikeets, sulphur-crested cockatoos, and cooing doves. It was amazing to see seven or eight lorikeets fighting each other for food at the multiple feeding stations just feet outside our window. It rivaled our visit to the Taronga Zoo aviary exhibit. When you visit Sydney, you must see Circular Quay, the Rocks, the Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park, and the rest of the magical city. Of course, it is also wonderful to stay in the heart of the action and be a part the hustle and bustle. But if you want a place to rest, rejuvenate, and relax in a real Sydney neighborhood after a day of exciting city adventures, then Mum's House is the place for you.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great service from anna who made us feel right at home; a lovely quiet neighbourhood. Mum's House is a character house and that's part of the charm; suited our older traveller in particular. Close to public transport, great location. We'll be back!

This wss our first vacation home rental,we had numerous questions and concerns.Anna quickly answered our questions which in turn resolved our concerns.Anna's emails helped us learn about the neighborhood, the public transportation, the grocery stores and the home we would be living in for 10 days.
Photos of "Mum's House" let us know every detail of the home so there would be no surprises.Upon arrival, the house looked exactly like the pictures, inside and out.The house is off the street, behind anna's home so even though we were in a neighborhood,Mum's House felt secluded. We felt safe and slept with the windows open every night! The home is beautiful.Lovely full length French doors on one wall of the living room!Numerous windows for cross venilation or central air conditioning.
Anna has thought of everything. All you have to do is buy your groceries!
Mum's House is located in a multi-cultural neighborhood so there are varieties of restaurants/take aways and small stores within a 3 minute walk.Grocery stores are 2 stops away by train.
The Train station is a 5 minute walk. From there you can go anywhere in Sydney. We purchased the Weekly Multi 3 Ticket which allowed us to use the trains, busses, ferries throughout the Sydney area.Anna has a library on Sydney tourist destinations, public transportation, local information so you can be well informed before setting out and if you have a question, Anna has the answer or will research to get the answer for you!Or if you choose, you can pay a few extra dollars for wifi internet service and you can search for yourself.
The opportunity to live like the locals in our own vacation home, see sights that the "typical tourist" doesn't have time to see was wonderful.
Sydney is an expensive city to visit! However, living at Mum's House can make your trip an affordable and extremely memorable vacation! -

We stayed at Mum's House for SIX weeks. We'd sold our place but had to wait until we could move into the new home. We have a beautiful young puppy-daughter called Vespa who also needed somewhere to stay. Mum's house fitted the bill exactly.we moved in with heaps of both human & doggie stuff,We were warm & snug,&so was Vespa-because she was in Anna's house being thoroughly spoilt! Anna was absolutely kind & caring, made sure we were comfy, had all we needed,& directed us to the really close-by eating places. Flemington markets are so convenient.:) Mum's was so ideal for our needs...we went to work each day, knowing our pet was well looked after, we could easily eat out,or cook at home, everything worked well in the house, lots of linen&blankets, etc. The service was all you could ask for and more.

Mum's House is a competitively priced holiday rental close to the city and within a short walk of the train station. Given the proximity to the train station and considering the parking problem in and around Sydney a rental car is not required here, travelling around the city is a pleasure with the frequent train services from Mum's House. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mum's House to anyone from any where looking for an alternative to hotel accommodation. The host anna Logan is very helpful and willing to pass on her excellent knowledge of the city and its surrounds.

Mum's House was a great place to stay in Sydney. I had a wonderful holiday there and felt perfectly at home in Mum's House. I loved feeding the birds each morning and found Anna very warm and friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit Mum's House again.

Left on 05/18/2011 for a stay in February 2010
Mum's House is by far one of the finest holiday rentals we've ever experienced. The friendliness of the owner, the easy-to-find and get-to location, the exquisite birdlife, the nearby restaurants, markets and public transport, the comforts of WiFi, DVD and fully-equipped kitchen and laundry, the quiet neighbours, and the sense of being "at home" when in fact we were on a joyous holiday made this a one-in-million find. Please share the news, but make sure it's to friends and family who appreciate genuine value, honest friendships, and respect the trouble to which this family has gone to make your stay so comfortable.

When visiting Sydney I always stay at Mum's House. It is bright, spacious and clean with everything one needs to look after oneself. It is in a great location with ready access to public transport. Anna's warm, friendly welcome and excellent local knowledge are a huge bonus and make it a home away from home.

Sydney, AustraliaFive Star home away from home
Left on 05/07/2011 for a stay in July 2009
Mum's House is pretty much everything you could want for an enjoyable stay away from home. This was a fantastic place to stay - comfortable, homely, and well stocked with good appliances (digital TV, DVD player, cheap broadband Internet, washing machine, gas heating etc.).
In addition to the accomodation itself, the proprieter is one of the nicest and most helpful "landlords" I have ever met. She was extremely accomodating and helpful right the way through my visit. If I were being picky, I would say that a clothes dryer and a dishwasher might be nice, but at the end of the day these are very minor things.
In summary, Mum's House gets ***** FIVE STARS from me - Highly Recommended!
