We arrived here on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon, and could not quite believe we were so close to the city. Looking at the cottage from the front we wondered how all 4 of us would fit into such a small building, but upon entering we were just amazed at the amount of space. The bathroom is the most charming space and we all loved the very unique shower. Having a little yard to sit out in was also really nice. When you wake in the morning in a city you really expect to hear rush hour, but here you are woken by nothing but bird call, yet just a stroll down the road and you are in the midst of all that Sydney has to offer.
I would recommend this cottage to friends, but would advise there are some slight downs:
The owner does not have the facility to pay by card, and bank transfers mean that there are complications with currency conversion and added transfer costs. We were visited by 5 large cockroaches during our stay which I know would put some people off, and unfortunately on our last day/night there was quite a down poor of rain and this came flooding through several places into the veranda area. A towel had been left by the back door, and now we know why, but water came through in several places, so it was difficult to mop it all up.Response from Catherine & Rob Graham - 04/28/2013

Thank you for taking the time to review Darling Harbour Cottage and love your description of it as a Tardis. We have sorted out the leaks - they were due to blocked gutters around bay window which is a consequence of having a leafy garden!
Insects are unavoidable in most of inner Sydney due to the warm, humid weather. This is a bit of a surprise for visitors coming from colder climates! -

Lexington, MassachusettsDarling Harbour Cottage was perfect for our family of four adult
Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Darling Harbour Cottage was perfect for our family of four adults. The location is ideal -- a quiet residential lane across from a park, only a ten-minute walk to beautiful Darling Harbour. A short stroll beyond brought us to the Central Business District. We walked everywhere and there are plenty of public transit options as well. The cottage itself is charming and spacious, with a dining and living room area (the DVD selection was a bonus!) as well as a separate eating area near the kitchen. A toilet and sink are in a room separate from a shower/bath and another sink, so it feels as if there are two bathrooms. The cottage was spotless. There is a lovely courtyard with flowers in the back, where a much-appreciated washer and dryer are kept, not to mention a full garage. The owners were easy to reach and easy to deal with, providing very helpful information and ensuring a smooth move in. We would love to return to Sydney and, when we do, we will return happily to Darling Harbour Cottage.

Melbourne, AustraliaA cute cottage in a great location & family friendly
Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The "Darling Harbour Cottage" was a great 2 bedroom cottage in Ultimo walking distance to Darling Harbour. We stayed at this cottage as a family with an 8, 6 & 2.5 yo & it was very suitable. It was very cost effective as when I went to book 3 weeks prior to our trip, a 4-5 star 2-3 bedroom apartment at Darling Harbour / CBD was anywhere from $400-$800 per night which was totally out of our budget. There is aLso a gorgeous little family friendly pub only doors away which we found great for dinner & they were very accommodating in other ways too.
In the lead up to our stay we had a bit of difficulty communicating with the owners to discuss our stay (which is very different to staying in a Hotel) but we received a detailed document with great information once they'd received our full payment prior to arriving in Sydney.
It's a 2 storey cottage with very steep stairs to the main bedroom upstairs so for our kids it wasn't too bad but if yours are younger it might be an issue. In terms of advertised photo's it was very accurate but there were a couple of things that I will mention in terms of cleanliness: 1) there was a small bag of rubbish left in the kitchen bin from previous guests which I was surprised to find 2) the doona cover in the main room had not been put on the actual doona despite the bed being neatly made up & 3) the floor particularly the bathroom was a bit dusty & there was a bit of hair left on the floor from previous renters. But overall, we honestly thought it was terrific, reasonably priced & in a great location. -

33020great location & house, great patio & BBQ, plus parking
Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We enjoyed the location and having a house with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, family & dinning spaces - great to have patio with BBQ along with secure parking. Some communication difficulty getting booked & right amount of linens, but once we got there, we were responded to promptly. Bare essentials in the kitchen & no aC. Four of us were very comfortable.

Very central cottage for visiting all the top visitor attractions in Sydney, Clean, tidy and acceptable, the 4 cockroaches we killed I trust was just part of living in a warm inner city situation
