SydneyTotal decadence: a few miles from Sydney yet a million miles fro
Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We're a group of girlfriends from school that meet annually for a weekend away. We've been doing it for around 15 years now and this year we topped all others in the very well appointed & spacious Boathouse, full of 80s opulence which was perfect for us.
We met for lunch in Brooklyn on Friday before Tom's water taxi motored us to our 3 day home away from home. Kevin showed us the ropes on arrival and from then on it was simply a question of which deck from which to drink in the view, which spa or pool to frolic in, which of the 3 double fridges to get refreshments from or which gourmet feast to prepare with ease in the huge and inviting kitchen.
As if an indoor pool, 8 bathrooms, 7 spas, 3 fridges, a full size billiard table, fireplace, kayaks, decks with views and a jetty hasn't been enough to brag about, it also had a helipad! -

CanberraA taste of the Hawkesbury life
Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We were looking for a suitable house for 5 couples, all great friends to spend a long weekend together. We needed 5 separate private bedrooms, with our own bathrooms, but also with large entertaining areas where we could gather over the weekend. We wanted to stay 'somewhere on the Hawkesbury'.
We had a generous budget as we all put funds into a 'weekend away' account each year. We found Boathouse on Hawkesbury online, and immediately thought this was perfect. All bookings and arrangements were made and we cannot speak more highly of host Loretta, who made it all possible. We were met at Brooklyn Pier by our friendly water taxi, and all food and booze was loaded on. A quick trip across the water and we were there. We were met by the owner, and he quickly showed us through the house, and then left us to open the first bottle of Champagne and wonder at how lucky were were to have found this. The house is enormous, with full size billiard table, library, large kitchen and dining areas. The indoor pool area downstairs was beautiful. On the roof was a jacuzzi that easily fits 8 people, and we watched the sun set from here on an unseasonably warm June Friday evening. We walked to the end of the peninsula the next morning ducking and weaving through all the little river shacks and meeting the sometimes quirky, friendly locals. On another day some of us borrowed the two sea kayaks, while others went over to explore Dangar Island. Bedrooms were very spacious, and each had their own spa bath. The house is a little tired, and needs some cosmetic upgrades, but for a fabulous location, and plenty of room for lots of people, I would highly recommend it, especially for those who have always dreamed of experiencing a little of the Hawkesbury lifestyle.
The house's isolation means you need to be a pretty organised re food and drink. For ten of us, this meant planning all our meals, and one couple doing the shopping beforehand. There are other options locally.

Ten very excited women had " The best weekend ever".
Kevin kindly gave us tour, as we all picked our collective jaws from the floor.
The stunning views of the Hawkesbury, and the house that catered to every whim. Where do you start your weekend?
Bubbles on the deck, swimming in the pool, laughing over dinner, soaking in the spa... and then thankfully it starts again on Day 2.
Lots of laughing and relaxing in the most picturesque of venues. Thankyou so much.

This place is just a fantastic. Our group has been going here for the past five years and we have always had a great time. There is so much to do even though you are actually isolated from everyone,as you can only get to it via boat. I would recommend this wonderful place in paradise to any group looking to get away. The sunsets are also gorgeous. If you like to fish then this is the place to do it. A big dewy was caught only last weekend weighing 16kg.

SydneyProbably the best weekend I've had

I had an amazing weekend at the Boathouse. From start to finish this was a fabulous weekend spent with friends and family to celebrate my birthday which will be remembered for ever.
The facilities were excellent, the pool was refreshing after sunbathing on the lower deck. The large rooms, all of which come with a spa are great for an afternoon snooze before watching the sunset on the top deck.
We took out the kayaks for an explore along the river before jumping back into the hot tub, front row seats for a passing thunderstorm.
Saturday night was extra special with a meal specially cooked by the secretdining.com.au chef Manny.
A great time was had by all and I only wish I could stay at the house every weekend.

This is our third time here...the location is unbeatable and the views are amazing. The house is absolutely huge and there is plenty of space for everyone. The highlights are the billiard table, the rooftop spa, and the spectacular sunsets that can be seen with uninterrupted views over the water.

After spending 2 nights here I really found it hard to leave. Everything was perfect. The rooms are large and very welcoming. The indoor pool area is so amazing. The rooftop spa is beautiful at sunset. Full size snooker table was a huge hit at night. Cannot fault this place and will return many times
