Nested in the charming backstreets of the old Jewish quarter of Ortigia, is this lovely loft apartment, just refurbished by its careful owners. The loft is available for short lets to non-residents and is fully equipped for a comfortable holiday. Based at ground floor level, the loft has also its own typical Sicilian DAMMUSO. Price is inclusive of bed and bath linen, water and electricity bills. Week-end let also available (minimum stay of two nights).

Siracusa (or Syracuse, as it is still often known in English) is a pleasant town, with plenty to occupy tourists for at least a couple of days. A fine cultural destination, its significance is recognised with a UNESCO heritage listing. It's also a good base for seeing the south-eastern corner of Sicily, including the Baroque towns of Ragusa and Noto, several archaeological sites, and the lively city of Catania.The town has several fast-food options Sicilian-style, like bars selling arancini, as well as groceries where you can buy food to make picnics. Via Cavour is a good bet for finding affordable food, while the food market offers a tempting range of choices. Some shops will make up rolls for you, using local cheeses, hams or whatever you fancy from their counter display. Delicious sweet pastries from one of the town's many pasticcerie will be cheaper and quite possibly better than a dessert in a restaurant......

The flat is modern, new, very nice, clean and comfortable. Specially the bed is very good to sleep. The host is very kind and helpful. The property is on the ground floor of a small, old, sweet building, in the middle of the old town of Ortigia, which is a small island inside of Siracusa, it is the most beautiful part. We enjoyed to be the part of the local people's life for a week. A carpenter's workshop is near, an old lady is watering her flowers each morning, and other walked with dogs, they all say hello and talk to you. In the nights there were concerts and film festival on a small piazza near when we were there. There was music and noise of the people, motorcycles, but it doesn't disturbed us at all, we liked it. We followed the rhythm of their life, we were sitting on the street in front of the door, to drink our coffee or to read the news. The flat is for only one minute from the main square, the Piazza Duomo. Going there you can find free wifi of Hotel Rome or Café Minerva, which is working with password, they give it you when you go there first time. From the door of the flat you see the Café Tinkité's wifi, too. A small market with food is also very near, as pharmacy, a lot of café, trattoria, souvenir shop, too. There are two places where you can swim on Ortigia, one is with small and bigger stones, the other is with sand. There are bigger beaches you can reach woth ships and buses out of Ortigia.

I highly recommend this accommodation, I spent a wonderful week with my family (parents and two very small children)! The apartment is newly renovated and equipped with everything we needed. The location is perfect for touring the city and enjoy the many clubs and bars in the historic center of Syracuse, but also perfect to reach the beautiful beaches around. In addition Cesare, Lucia and the little Matteo ware very nice and helpful, so that we consider them our friends!
