Villa "Nereide" is the ideal sicilian homeholiday for a group of 4-6 people who want to relax and spend some 'time at sea, easily reached on foot (200 mt). The entrance leading to the house is crossed by a small street that arrives at the main gate which can be closed and locked during the night. There is a large outdoor area used as parking for three cars. Two gazebos are placed in a shaded area with two tables for 12 people, a place to eat al fresco, next to a beautiful lawn, adorned with plants, flowers and fruit trees. We loved every minute of our time at Villa Neiride. We did a lot of touring in Rome and were happy to have time to relax in aranella and see the local sites at a more relaxed pace. Villa Neiride was a wonderful sanctuary. We were met by Maria (who lives nearby in Siracusa) and Fabrizio and Michaela, who came from Rome to greet us. The location was stunning - a quiet summertime resort community just outside of Siracusa but easy 20 minute bus ride. Short drive to Noto (we attended the Infiorata festival), and 30 min to Catania, where you can enjoy a number of local villages, wine/honey/olive oil tasting and Mt Etna. Mostly, we enjoyed days at the beach (and yes, we swam!), visits to Siracusa and Ortygia, daily drop-ins at the local aranella market for fresh bread, cappucino and gelato(!), and the tranquility of the property...even the doves! Picking fresh lemon for our meals was a bonus! The Siracusa Beach resort does a prix-fix menu with cassata - the local sweet made from ricotta cheese (a little too sweet for my tooth). There is not much locally except the beach so this is really more for a retreat from Siracusa/Ortygia but close enough to enjoy. No atms or grocery within walking distance (except the market for bread, milk, wine and gelato). Bus stop is near the beach a few blocks. Thank you again also to Maria, who is a gem. Very much recommend Villa Neiride.
