Gardenia Retreat is ideally located in Tamarindo within a 5 minute walk to the beach and 3 minutes to the nearest restaurants and markets. Each of Gardenia's cottages have a cozy bedroom with a comfortable orthopedic queen mattress as well as a living room with a sofa (twin bed) that can be used for a 3rd person if need be.
Each of our four quaint apartments also have a private bath (with hot water) as well as a fully equipped kitchen with a small refrigerator, stove, toaster oven or microwave. There is AC and fans in each cottage as well as a safety box for your personal belongings. Complimentary wireless internet is also available.

We really, enjoyed our stay at Gardenia, near the end of our trip we found Tamarindo fairly easy to navigate with regard to language barriers etc... Beautiful spot, though we found the street hawkers overbearing (very hard working though ... didn't see anyone looking for a handout like here in Victoria, BC) The surfing was pretty good, a little windy at times. If we go again I think I'd like to experience the area in the off season and travel a little further to enjoy some more of the culture. Overall, 9/10 for accommodation, 6/10 for location.

I've traveled throughout many parts of Costa Rica over the years but my last stay was most memorable at Hotel Gardenia in Tamarindo. Although, it is a relatively new hotel, it has a beauty and charm that make it distinct and memorable. My apartment was clean with a well-equipped kitchen as well as a small living room. Due to the beauty of the size of Gardenia, I felt I was treated quite personably as a guest and got to spend some enjoyable time engaging with others by the pool which was one of the highlights of my stay. I am looking forward to my return to Gardenia next summer!
