mt. laurel, njParadise in Tamarindo
Left on 12/03/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We (wife, myself, and 2 daughters 12&10) drove down from Borinquen Resort @ Rincon de la Vieja the afternoon of Sunday November 18th. It took a little over 2 hours, probably no more than 75 minutes from Liberia airport. We arrived at the condo entrance for Bob Wilson and had a bit of a language barrier with the security guard. However, he called someone who arrived in minutes and all was well. Bob came out and we followed him a couple hundred yards up the road to the private, gated community of Playa Langosta.
As we entered the home we could see straight thru the foyer/living room out to the lighted, tropical backyard and pool area. Amazingly serene and exactly what you see in the pictures. The rest of the downstairs is also perfectly represented. In short, the home is beautiful and a bargain. The upstairs has two nice en suite bedrooms with private indoor/outdoor showers.
The home is well situated on the outskirts of Tamarindo (literally a 2-3 minute drive) and is certainly walkable although it would be a dusty walk due to the fact that the roads are not paved but are more of a hard pack/gravel consistency. I thought that only added to the charm and made the whole town seem unspoiled.
You are only 3-5 minute walk to Langosta beach (?) which is not really a swimming beach but rocky, unspoiled, and a great place to see the sunset. You can either walk to "Tamarindo" town beach or set up at the Playa Langosta Beach Club (included with your rental) although they will not allow you to bring the lounge chairs down to the beach. You have to sit a tables and chairs. A bit odd and really annoying for a "beach club" not to have lounge chairs. No biggie, Pura Vida, eh? We actually spent a morning down by Witches Rock surf camp where we rented 2 chairs and umbrella for $10 and watched the surfers for a couple of hours.
In short, this is a great home for a family or 2 couples travelling together. We especially enjoyed our breakfast and coffee in the backyard retreat listening to the birds and howler monkeys.
Thanks Bob Wilson for a magical family vacation! -

edmonton albertafantastic accommodations

We spent two weeks in Tamarindo over christmas. The accommodation was excellent. The condo is very well equipped. The location is great just a short walk down the beach to town. Bob is excellent at making arrangements for different tours. We did the horseback riding and the jungle tour. The plunge pool is great after a day at the beach. We loved the outdoor shower.

tampaGreat Place, a few changes I would make
Left on 03/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The place is beautiful first and foremost. It is sturdy, solid, great finishing touches, high-end fixtures and gated security. Pool area is relaxing, patio is quaint and private. The outdoor showers are very cool if you have never experience this. The interior does look different from the pictures as original owner wanted all of her belongings back so they have re-furnished the place. No big deal.
Spent 3 nights and had a couple of minor issues but they were resolved quickly by Bob and his team - very professionally and he personally checked in on the status during and afterward. Very pleased with result.
A recommendation: brochure info says 10 minute walk to town but when you get there you are told "I wouldn't walk, it's too far". Maybe that was because we had my 70+ year old parents with us. People do walk it, but it is not "ideal". The walk is not smooth - it is rocky, rutty, dusty and too far. The road condition is not a "property management" issue more a Tamarindo issue. The Beach Club is also not as close as we thought (not as far as town). You can walk it no doubt, it just won't be pleasant on that road and you'll be covered in road dust. I do believe you can access the Beach Club from the beach side which would be a much better walk, I just felt doing this was like going around your ankle to get to your thumb.
Would I stay here again if we went back to Tamarindo? Yes, most definitely, but we would have rented a car for our stay instead we relied on a tour company to move us around Costa Rica (Odyssey Tours is amazing people!!). However, we won't go back to Tamarindo - not our scene as it is too busy for our family and too americanized.
