Ed from Houston
HoustonWhy I like Taos better
Left on 03/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I am a houstonian and do not get to ski as much as I would like, due to the fact I need to make a living doing what I love which requires me to be in Texas. I have skiied off and on for over 40 years and just like the Taos set up and experience better than those of Utah, Colo. and the rest of N. Mexico. I want a place where I can come in, have lunch, take off the boots, eat warm food and go to the bathroom, and rest without having hundreds of others competing for tables, bathrooms, and expensive food, often on wet floors. I ski hard for two hours, go to Sierra Del Sol for lunch, do my thing, then back on the slopes for another two hours. After the afternoon skiing, it is a short walk to the condo, where I can have cheese dip, and then heat up the food I prepared in Texas for an evening meal, wine or beer, then cards at night, and then get to do it all over the next day. No long walks to the parked car, a no long drive to a house/motel, No standing in line to eat expensive food.

Unhappy
TexasNot Happy
Left on 07/28/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We were to stay from Friday and leave on Monday July 5th. We were very unhappy with the condo. Needs to be updated. Bed very uncomfortable and the blinds and the curtain pulls were broke. The balcony was a disappointment also. Tried to get in touch with the office several times during our stay to check on moving to another unit, but never reached anyone. We ended up leaving very early Sunday morning to finish our last night of our vacation elsewhere.

Austin, TXGreat location and ammenities, but problems with building
Left on 03/24/2010 for a stay in March 2010
I would recommend staying here, as the advantages certainly outweighed the disadvantages. On the plus side are proximity to chair lifts, reasonable rates, and a nicely appointed, comfortable, well-laid out condo. However, the building appeared rather shodily built, and it caused some issues. Our third night in the water boiler went out, and we were without hot water that evening and the next morning. The next day it was repaired in time for a shower after skiing, but it failed yet again and we spent our last night and morning without hot water. I intend to ask for some recompense for that major inconvenience. The floors also creaked a lot when walking around - I felt sorry for the condo beneath us. Finally, when snow melted on the roof, it dripped down the porch window in an ugly, brown color that stained the curtains. I'm glad I am not an onwner in this condo complex.
A couple other annoyances: there was no washer/dryer in the condo, just a coin-op in the complex. Also, we were charged for fire wood, which seemed penny-ante. -

Santa FeSierra Del Sol #14
Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in January 2010
The location of the Sierra del Sol condos at Taos Ski Valley are great. You can easily walk to and from the lifts, which makes it an ideal spot to come back to for lunch. #14 has not been updated, it is not fancy, but it is charming nonetheless. There are a few amenities that I wish had been in the condo, simple little things like a wine opener, salt & pepper and a salad bowl. Now I have a list of what I need to bring next time. The service is good and the location great and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Shiner, TexasBest condo!
Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Sierra Del Sol was a truly great experience! We have stayed at other condos on the mountain that used the term ski in/ski out and found that Sierra Del Sol was much better and more convenient even though it cannot claim to be a ski in/ski out. The lift is just a short walk away. When we got hungry there were many choices (fancy and not so fancy) within a two minute walk of our condo. Thank you for such a great experience! When we return you can be sure that Sierra Del Sol will be the place we stay from now on.

Albuquerque, NMWarm, cozy, just like heaven!
Left on 06/03/2009 for a stay in May 2009
This is a wonderful and comfortable home. The overview of the mountain and river is unbelievable. We were amazed by the scenery, sitting right next to a nice fire in the fireplace. Very relaxing. Not to mention the fishing and hiking in the backyard. So close!

Left on 05/29/2009 for a stay in January 2009
In January I had the priviledge of staying at the Sierra Del Sol at the beautiful Taos Ski Valley. Our group found everything to be so convenient & pleasant - very comfortable, cozy condo accommodations & excellent customer service at the condos - walking distance to ski lift, shops, restaurants, post office, convenience store & beautiful scenery. We had a very relaxing & enjoyable stay and look forward to coming again. This is definitely "The Place" for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. New Mexico is "The Land of Enchancement".

Toronto OntarioClosest to skiing
Left on 05/19/2009 for a stay in March 2009
The proximity to hill/lifts at Taos Ski Valley is perfect--we had a view of the hills from our balcony and could ski in for lunch easily. The unit has a steep set of stairs upon entering (don't bring large suitcases) and there is another very steep staircase leading to the sleeping loft (actually not safe when children have to use the bathroom)The unit is a little tired and carpets/floors could be cleaner. The kitchen cupboards were hung for giants so needed to use step ladder to access them. The appliances all work fine heat was more than adequate. Maid service is great, cleaning daily and bringing supplies and fresh towels. Price is reasonable for the 'rustic' accomodations. Front desk were more than helpful with Internet and other requests for directions/food/check out etc.

Unhappy Customer
albuquerque, new mexicoTerrible unit
Left on 05/19/2009 for a stay in December 2008
This condo was very below-par. It is terribly old, and needs to be
updated. It had a very dirty feeling. For instance, you could see the
vinyl/linoleum behind the toilet had been covered over several times
and was peeling up and was yellowed and dirty. Also, we had no hot
water during crucial hours of the day. For instance, we had no hot
water in the morning, nor in the later afternoon/evening, so we could
not shower!! We even left an emergency call for the staff, with no
reply. In addition, you can hear every word from other neighbors.
While Taos is beautiful, I would avoid this unit like the plaque.Response from Sierra Del Sol Condominiums - 05/23/2009

We do appreciate the honesty of this guest. Because of this review this condo will be remodeled this summer.
We did have a Municipal water problem just prior to this guests stay. Because of this we had air in the line and had intermittent hot water outages. We did try to make all guests aware of the problem, but apparently we not only missed this one but did not respond to an emergency call. We have offered a future discount to help show our apologies and get another opportunity to show that we normally do provide great service in charming condos. Sincerely, Cindy Etchemendy
