AlbuquerqueGreat place to disconnect
Left on 03/25/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We had a great extended weekend here after a particularly inhumane stretch of demanding work hours. We had our 2 year old with us, and opted to leave our dogs at home (glad we did). For a small family, this was the perfect space.
The house had more ameneties than I was expecting. The kitchen was fully stocked, plus had spices, etc...Wifi, dish, blu ray player. I have definetly stayed in worse hotels. The craftsmanship of the house is stunning, and we appreciated it very much. The hot tub was the whole reason we rented this place, and it did not dissapoint. Sitting in a hot tub with a drink in hand, listening to to Rio flow and watching the snow fall. It does not get any better than that.
If you are wanting something way off the beaten path, there are more secluded places in the Carson, for sure. However, given the ameneties and proximity to the plaza (5 min drive)it is worth the comprimise. Plus, there are several trail heads close. There are neighbors close, and a campground behind you, but no one was a bother, and they did a good job fencing for privacy. We usually tent it for a week at a time when we are in this area, so it was a different experience.
Price is right too.I would imagine the the fussy hotels on the plaza are more expensive, small, and have fewer ameneties. Great for families, just what we needed.

Genesee COComfort in the Canyon
Left on 06/23/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My husband and I recently spent a week at this lovely environmentally friendly home in Taos canyon. The house is extremely efficiently designed and built of beautiful natural materials. Every creature comfort was to be found here tucked on land sharing the Fernando de Taos River. All of the furniture was very comfortable including the beds. It is always a treat to get a good night's sleep when away from home. The patio on the river is a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine listening to the gurgling water flow by. I would recommend this rental highly. It is located close to a main road so would suggest taking this into consideration if you have loose children or pets traveling with you :-). Our dog found the property and home quite comfortable (especially the stream) and did not have a problem. Overall, It would be difficult to improve on this little getaway.

We just returned from a six day stay at the Taos Eco house. It was a lovely property. The house is brand new and a terrific design. The owners have thought of every comfort of home.
We loved the electric fireplace, the built in cabinetry and the open floor plan.
Should we return to the area we hope to stay at the house again.

Denver, ColoradoUnique, Comfortable, Peaceful

What a unique property! The attention to detail by the owners is incomparable. This home is clean, beautifully designed and decorated, and comfortably furnished with everything one needs for a quick or extended stay in the Taos area. Bathrooms are nicely sized, kitchen is well stocked (although could use more lighting at night), beds are extremely comfortable, and the hot tub's in great condition. Loved the low-maintenance fireplace, wi-fi, flat-panel TV, satellite TV service, and washer/dryer. Owners provide ample local activity, restaurant, and gallery information. Wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating!

Santa Rosa, CAThe Perfect Getaway
Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We just returned from a week at the Rio House and are already planning a January trip to both ski and attend a ceremonial dance at the Taos Pueblo. The house is so wonderfully designed with an open area leading to a great deck - right on the river, waterfall and all. The landscaping is charming, there's a pond in front of the house which is, in and of itself, so interesting because of its rusted iron color. The cabinetry throughout the home is beautiful. Inside and out, the property is very clean, well maintained and quiet. Every amenity is included. The bedrooms which are on either side of the kitchen-living space are equally well appointed and comfortable.
We loved that we could go on long hikes (William's Lake at 11,000 feet) and shorter ones (Divisidero right down the road). We greatly appreciated the hot tub under more stars than you've ever seen before, with only the sounds of the river to distract us.
In Taos, just down the canyon, we ate dinner on the patio at The Firefly, and had other wonderful food at Eske's Brew Pub, Orlando's, the Guadalajara, and Doc Martin's.
All in all, we were totally happy with this unique property and look forward to our January trip. -

The Taos Rio Eco House and property really have the "wow" factor! We were so pleased when we arrived and didn't want to leave when it was time to go. It was beautiful and relaxing, inside and out. I truly wish I could have this house and setting waiting for us everywhere we visit. The owners were awesome. We also got to visit their larger house 1/4 mile away. It was completely different but equally wonderful. I would love to stay at the Rio Eco House again and would recommend their larger house as well.

The home was welcoming and peaceful. We loved the hot tub and the proximity of the stream. The stars were more brilliant than we've ever seen. The only disturbance was the congregation of hundreds of motorcycles into the Enchanted Circle for Memorial Day, but after the weekend, the quiet returned.

Left on 04/17/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We enjoyed our first stay at this unique and environmentally designed home in Taos Canyon at the end of March,2011. David and Meredith are wonderful hosts providing all the essentials in the household. The house and grounds were even more stunning than the description and the site by the river is very relaxing. The property was immaculate and pride of ownership was very evident. I would highly recommend this home for those seeking a relaxing retreat. Taos favorites include: Dragonfly for lunch and great desserts, Taos diner for local favorites! We enjoyed the Pueblo and a quick drive to the hot springs at Ojo Caliente as a great day trip to "soak your bones". They also have some great hiking trails.

Left on 04/15/2011 for a stay in March 2011
My family and I stayed at the Taos Rio property for spring brake. We were impressed with how large the space felt, very smartly designed. The wood work was beautiful, and everything is new since the home was just completed in January. Close to the good part of downtown, our favorite place to eat Doc Martins, and only 30 to 45 min from Taos ski valley. I would recommend the space to anyone.
