I spent three fabulous weeks at the schoolhouse studio and absolutely loved it. Can't recommend it enough. My dog loved it too -- lots of great places to walk nearby. It's a short walk to the town center so it's convenient, but down a rustic little lane so it feels secluded at the same time.
Jessica was a super host and gave great recommendations for local dining and hangouts, as well as filled me in on the local history. The kitchenette was handy for quick meals when I just felt like staying in and reading. The building itself is beautiful and historic, and the view out to the mountains behind the property is mesmerizing, especially as the sun sets (it's also the same view you get from the shower which, with the sun streaming in through the window, is a really uplifting way to wake up in the morning).
Driving up to Taos Ski Valley was a snap. I highly recommend their Snowsports Week clinics. Amazing value. It honed my technique well beyond my expectations.
I met so many great people during my stay in Taos -- can't wait to return. When I do, I'm staying at Jessica's, without a doubt. Beautiful, cozy little spot. In a lifetime of fairly extensive travel around the world, the schoolhouse is easily one of my favorite stays.
I loved it so much, in fact, I came to stay at one of her places in Kauai too (also lovely), which is actually where I'm writing this review from. So relaxing! -

I truly loved every minute of my stay at the Old Schoolhouse ... even going the short distance outside (it was 4 degrees & snowing) to the bath facility. You can feel the history of this very special place. I love the location next to the Mabel Dodge Luhan compound. I can hardly wait to go back for more!

San DiegoSerene and Cozy Casita
Left on 04/26/2011 for a stay in November 2010
Our stay in the casita in November was truly exceptional for several reasons. The casita itself was quite lovely with a very comfortable bed, nearby jacuzzi, great indoor and outdoor patios, as well as wandering rooms that invited interaction or solitude. The kitchen was more efficiency-style in terms of cooking and slightly awkward but do-able. The indoor and outdoor charm more than made up for the minor cooking inconveniences. We traveled with dogs on their first trip and really appreciated the enclosed patio, yard, tolerance of the hosts, and the host dog Honey who did everything to make everyone's stay enjoyable. The in town proximity, overall comfort, and lovely views make this charmer a "Must Do" stay in Taos.

While I was visiting Taos for an evening I stayed at the Schoolhouse studio located conveniently close to the center of town. The courtyard was wide open as well as the surrounding area. I was immediately made welcome as I was greeted by the lovely, sweet dog aptly named Honey. Jessica was a gracious hostess offering me a tour of the historic Mabel Dodge Luhan house and introducing me to her three beautiful daughters.
The Schoolhouse Studio was a school for the Native american children from the surprisingly close pueblo of Taos and you can feel the history as soon as you set foot in the room. I could almost imagine the 10 or 15 children getting there lessons from one of the many Sisters presiding over the mission as it was in those days. The room was very clean and comfortable while all my needs were sought after by the owner Jessica Gormley. As a songwriter I found this rental to be inspiring and well suited to my needs as the place was quiet and very open with plenty of scenery. A hot tub is available in a beautiful, quaint courtyard which supposedly housed and protected the Sisters as well as the school children during apache raids.
I would gladly stay here again and recommend it to all my friends staying in Taos. I hope anyone staying here will find it as majestic and satisfying as I had.
