Additional Location Information

The house is in walking distance to the station with trains going to Arles, Avignon, Nimes and Marseilles connecting the town with the TGV (fast train) to Paris and the rest of Europe (you can get to Paris on the TGV in under 3 hours). It is also easily accessible to the airports of Marseille, Montpellier and Nimes.

If you're travelling by car, it is easily accessible from the motorway from Avignon or Arles and there is plenty of free parking in the town.

Tarascon is situated right in the heart of Provence, near to the villages of Les Alpilles and Saint Remy de Provence. All around are many Roman ruins to visit, including Le Pont du Gard and the Roman town of Glannum outside Saint Remy and the Roman amphitheatres in Arles and Nimes.

Hiking, canoeing and walking can all be enjoyed nearby, along with wine tasting in the many vineyards all around. It is close to the Camargue with its white horses and flamingoes and restaurants with live Gypsy music (the Gypsy Kings come from here). Throughout the year there are many festivals and pageants that take place in Tarascon and the neighbouring towns and villages.

Just over the bridge is the town of Beaucaire, with its grand houses and marina. You can sit by the quayside, watch the boats and enjoy a meal of moules frites (mussels and chips).

If you're interested in fresh local produce, Tarascon has one of the best weekly markets around, with traditional artisanal food producers and local produce.
