Description from the owner
Situated en the Natural park of the Straits of Gibraltar, a short walk of 25 min to the town of Tarifa through one of the most beautiful and interesting coasts of Spain. Its an 8 min drive to town, supermarkets, restaurants ect... The access road to the house is good except the last 800m that is a dirt track, normal cars can access the house perfectly, but low sport cars can not.
Surrounded by sea views, nature and beaches. It is the European house closest to Africa. Here you will not hear the noises of the modern world, you will only listen to the birds signing, waves braking on the beach and the breeze of the wind. A perfect place to...Read more

Marbella, SpainBliss!!!
Left on 08/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Living just down the coast from Tarifa I have been there many times & thought I knew it rather well. However, the area where the house is located was a real surprise, tucked away and off the proverbial beaten track, it was exactly what we had hoped for.
The views over to africa must be the most spectacular along that coastline and the tranquility of the property was second to none. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway amidst beautiful scenery, then this is most definitely the place to be!
Many thanks to Marcos and Paco who couldn´t have been any more helpful :-)

Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
A lovely little villa over-looking Morocco... and we even spotted some whales while we were here!
Secluded, relaxed, simple but contemporary and clean decor - a perfect place to stay for us while we spent most of the day kite-surfing and would return late afternoon to relax, have Bbqs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Although we drove everywhere (to the beaches etc) it didn't bother us as we were looking for a hideaway, far from people! -

the house has a magical panorama and is really comfortable. People in Tarifa are welcoming, we went for Kitesurfing lessons. That was a wonderful week end, we'll come again next year in the same house, do not hesitate to book it you'll enjoy the views and the nature around

I booked this for a special break with my husband for his birthday. Marcos was very helpful indeed when organising it. The house is stunning - magnificent views and a wonderful rustic homely feel with plenty of relaxing outdoor space - the window in the lounge is just as it is shown in the pictures - you can sit inside with a glass of wine watching the ships sailing through the strait and the lights flickering over in Morocco. October was still very warm, a great escape from the British winter and although we did have some windy days it didn't bother us - you can always find a sheltered spot. Tarifa is a lovely town and it is well worth walking there along the coast for a night out as there are lots of bars and interesting and very authentic restaurants...just be sure to avoid the cows on the way home! Although the coast by the house is not sandy there are some lovely beaches to visit just a short drive away (you can fish from the rocks below the house just don't expect to catch much - would be better out on a boat as Marcos had suggested)! Thanks Marcos, I'm sure we will be booking again at some point in the future.

I can't find any fault at all. Our stay was perfect. It's a beautiful spot with the most extraordinary view, and you can get away from it all without being too far from the town of Tarifa, so you can chill out and relax at the house in peace and quiet or go the incredible beaches there and enjoy the town. It's also a great spot
for birdwatchers. -

We had a wonderful stay at La Casa del Estrecho. It really is an isolated little oasis. Marcos the owner and the management were extremely welcoming and helpful. The property is fantastic and suited our needs perfectly. Being given access to the organic vegetable garden was an added bonus. We left refreshed and would happily return again.

This house is fantastic - and I can judge it quite well since I've stayed in it for 10 weeks. It's located in the middle of a natural park, which means your surrounded by nature, but it's not too far from the inhabited world (i.e. the village of Tarifa), so you don't feel cut off. The views over the Straits of Gibraltar are completely stunning. Even after 10 weeks I could still just sit down and watch the sea with the hills of Morocco in the background for an hour and do nothing else. It just doesn't get old, that view. On days with little wind the only sounds you hear are the sea and lots of birds. It's not the most luxurious house but it has everything you need. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This place is amazing. 5 star accommodation with 5 star views accross to africa. Many relaxing evenings spent looking at that! Tarifa is is a ten minute drive or half hour walk along the coast, although you feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere when back at the villa.
Marcos, the host could not have been warmer towards us and made our stay even more enjoyable than it could have been! Thanks Marcos! -

There are few places where you can find the unique combination of an awesome landscape (actually you see africa from your bed) a very comfortable and well designed house and the hospitality of Marcus and his family. If you want to feel at home and admire a wonderful landscape this is the place!!. Moreover Tarifa is at walking distance (30 minutes) by country road.

It was really nice experience to be there with my daughter. We live in the city, so to spend a week in the country side was very nice. Views are amazing, owner of the property is very friendly, and whole experience was great! Location is perfect, not so far from the town, but still in your own peace. I will come again for sure!

What an amazing place. Looking over to Morocco all day and staying in an amazing cabin that make's you feel like you're the only one in the world. Nothing to do but relax, or surf or go kiteboarding. Less than 10 mins from Tarifa centre, but it's such an amazing location that you wouldn't want to leave in the first place. Really nice interior, felt like we were royalty. Our favourite place in Europe, hands down.
